Hi! The stitch length is 2 mm. When I bind the page edges for the book I always leave a gap where the spine is going to be. There is no technical reason, I just save my binding strips and time. And yeah, it doesn’t need to be accurate.
The book sheets are made of cotton fabric stiffened with iron-on fusible interfacing, and also I put a polyester batting inside to make a sheet puffy. the book is washable. I do not use any paper or cardboard.

When you sew the binding the first time aroubd, what is th ed seam allowance? It looks like 5mm but when finished, it looks to be 7mm
Seam allowance is 8 mm. When it is finished, it is 10 mm.
