My all-time favorite star! We share the same birthday and I met her at the State Fair and she autographed my 8x10! Let me tell ya…when she walked through the crowd with two escorts and took the stage you knew you were seeing a star! She glittered from head to toe and was like a Greek Goddess. And I loved her ever since! Love you, Dear Dottie…Heaven is surely a much prettier place with you there in it! ❤❤❤❤
She was such a sweet beautiful woman who is missed very much by so many what an amazing woman with such a beautiful voice may she she rest in heavenly peace
It is taken from a one hour ABC-TV special that was broadcast at 8:00 p.m. (EDT)on May 25, 1981. This was from an Atlanta concert taped Spring 1981. I made an audio recording of the TV special at the time, and am glad I did as it is the only known live recording of Dottie singing the song backed by the Gatlins. So glad to see the video of this performance again on TH-cam, thank you for posting it! Other guests on the Gatlin Brothers special were Johnny Cash and Roger Miller. Larry Gatlin did a duet with Johnny Cash on "Rain". Dottie did a great solo version of the song on her 1978 United Artists album, "Dottie", by the way, which I like better than the Gatlins' original.
@@JoJo86155 I'm sorry, I don't. It would be great to see the entire special again. I recorded most of the show on an audio cassette when it was broadcast, and copied off this performance by Dottie onto a CD-R about 15 years ago and nothing else. For me, this was the highlight of the show. I don't think I even have the original audio cassette anymore - this is nearly 40 years ago now! By the way, this special was broadcast at the same time as a Bob Hope special on NBC, ensuring lower ratings than it might have otherwise gotten.
My heart still breaks when I drive to the Opry mills mall & see the cross with her name on it. I loved Dottie and the Gatlin brothers….
Beautiful lady Rip they sound great with her
