I feel your pain with the Bernat! If it’s soft I can use it occasionally if it’s that sticky stuff forget it. I have not noticed the line green brights being stiffer maybe I got lucky with my order. I’m always flipping my turtle legs to get them right 😂 you’re right you do have a tendency to want to put the tail end at the body. I haven’t used much 7 weight I can’t make myself buy it for the price and so little yardage. As usual great makes Stacy! Have a great productive week!!
I bought Fred, but still need to make him, lol. He’s so cute! I have been working on cats, chickens and smaller turtles since my last show I sold out of almost all of my plushies! I think you were pretty productive this week considering you work FT and are planning our next retreat! Which….I’m so excited about it. I can’t wait to see some familiar faces and make some new friends!❤
Hi Stacy! New here… I enjoyed your Vlog. I just found April and now I found you too! L O L. Yes, I agree, Burnat blanket is much harder on the hands. I love all the plushy’s! Especially the giraffe. 🦒 I hope to be able to make one of the retreats one day… I live in southern Louisiana so that’s a pretty far distance from me. 🤗💖
I’m a pattern hoarder, too. 😬. Lol. I can’t help it! I’ve been really wanting to crochet a giraffe lately & have a couple different patterns already. Just can’t decide which one. I like Aq, too. Hmm…decisions decisions. Regardless! I always love seeing your projects. You are such a terrific crocheter! I’m also a huge fan of stitch definition. Idk if it’s a sensory thing or whatever, but I always love seeing the stitch def. I feel like your projects ALWAYS look sooooooo good! Thank you for sharing with us!! Hugs…xx🧡🧡
I know what you mean about the larger yarn taking more effort to crochet with. I don’t make plushies, but I have made a few baby blankets with blanket yarn as well as making baskets with T-shirt yarn. It is a workout and makes my arms ache! I sent in my wait list application for the retreat. I hope my daughter and I get to come! We are from Illinois, but have family in Kentucky, so are very familiar with making that trip!
I totally understand what you mean about Bernat! I use mostly Bernat and some of them are so hard to work with and make my hands so sore! The soft ones are the best though.
I totally have the same issue with Bernat. Both my forearms and hands get tired. But I do love it and always go back. 😁 would love to hear more about your compression sleeve! I’m also a knife holder but I yarn under/over. I think I twist my wrist more because of that. Looking forward to see what all you make the next few weeks! Except for that I am a pattern hoarder as well and always go buy what you show. 😂. Any chance you’d sell your nugget pattern eventually? Mine is a lot smaller, but I do like it too. It has a bite out of it. 😂. Love the giraffe!🦒
In Australia we don’t get to feel the yarn before we buy because most is online so I have to rely on my US buddies for descriptions but I’ve found if it’s caked, it’s lovely and soft. I’m just about to buy a few more colours in the myst ical range because it’s so lovely th make with & Bernat baby blanket dappled is so gorgeous that anything I make in it gets snapped up at the markets but purple is hard to get and the pink is impossible because it is sold on Amazon for over double its price I’ve noticed our prices going up ready for Black Friday sales, it’s such a ripoff hear that I’m going to try Hobbii for sales this time. Happy crocheting 🧶
Love that jumbo Fred! I splurged on a Furls streamline metal hook and I do think it makes working with Bernat easier. Or maybe I tell myself that so I feel less guilty about the purchase!
So funny! I mentioned bernat blanket in my last video too. I think I’m going to give it up after I use up what I have. It’s really hard on my hands/wrists.
I get the bernat blanket issues. Some are soft, some are almost waxy and squeak. I don't buy those. Even if it's like the dots colorways. I saw on a video somewhere that if it's made in China, it's the older formula. If it's made in India, it's soft and easy to work with. Unfortunately that means there is no guarantee when buying online but in-store I touch each color and check the label. I crochet too much for yarn that will hurt my hands. Hopefully that helps
Totally understand your thoughts on Bernat blanket. Thank you for sharing how you modify and detail the turtle. I have been making it for a year now and appreciate your pro tips. I am going back to listen again to your video to find the answer, but if you did not mention the size eye you used with Sweet Snuggles would you mind letting me know?
Which size hook do you use with the jumbo yarn please? Also, I just want you to know that being fairly new at this, I appreciate all of your tips and tricks you share, like for the turtle. That might be an idea for a series of videos for you when you’re not doing markets. I feel newbies kind of get lost in the sewing and advanced techniques for amugurumi. 😊. Just a thought. (Hint😂).
That premier basix chenille in lime green is tragic, all I can do with it is rainbow items because it’s so hard to I’m seriously thinking of washing it to see if it’s some type of residue that will wash away also the black is the same way & I’ve been using this range for a year now and they’ve always been great up until a few months ago and I’m in Australia, so that bad batch lot is huge.
What is the best yarn to use making plushies? I bought some yarn at hobby lobby and when I went to close the magic circle it kept breaking and shedding. I did order some premier basix chenille the other day and pray that it works better.
I use Bernat, premier Basix and posh and have no issues closing the ring. Sweet snuggles lite, parfait chunky and jumbo sweet snuggles I have to get the ring started, close it most the way, then do my SC in the ring.
Yes, there is more resistance with the rougher blanket yarns. You make turtles exactly the way I do. 🙂
The giraffe is adorable, and yes, I agree about the blanket yarn 😂
I agree with you about the bernat blanket. I have to switch like you do. I love your jumbo turtle it is my favorite.
Thank you for sharing. Love the giraffe 🦒!
That Fred the Turtle is BEAUTIFUL!! One of the best ones I’ve seen! I know you will sell it at $35 no problem.
Thanks...I absolutely love it! ❤️
I love the giraffe and the turtle! I have thought about getting that giraffe pattern! Good luck at your next market! 😊

Yes Im in my 50s and my wrist feels the blanket yarn! I just can't crochet as much as someone who is younger. 😂
yes i understand, u do alot of things the way i do

Thanks for watching! Louisiana is far but maybe some day we will come down a little closer! ❤️❤️
@ I would love that! ☺️🙌

Thank you Lisa you're too sweet! ❤️❤️

Small world! I got the application! 🥰
I totally understand what you mean about Bernat! I use mostly Bernat and some of them are so hard to work with and make my hands so sore! The soft ones are the best though.
Yes for sure! 😄
I can't believe I'm late at applying for the retreat again! 😂😭 I'm in awe of how much you're able to make while also working full time 👏👏👏
Hurry! 🤣
@@Stacymakes 😂 I'm on it!

I'll think about it 😂
Yes! I am there with you on the bernat yarn. I love those corduroy bags. Great color selections.
Thanks!! Glad to hear I'm not alone on the Bernat!
I love Fred! I am newish and haven't worked with jumbo yarn...yet! I must add a Fred to the family! 😍
Yes he's a keeper! 😍

Hit me up! I'll ship some to you! Although shipping to Aust is so freaking expensive 😫
Love that jumbo Fred! I splurged on a Furls streamline metal hook and I do think it makes working with Bernat easier. Or maybe I tell myself that so I feel less guilty about the purchase!
Haha. I can't seem to work with furls style (inline) hooks with any yarn or id try that! Lol
So funny! I mentioned bernat blanket in my last video too. I think I’m going to give it up after I use up what I have. It’s really hard on my hands/wrists.
I hate to give it up but definitely have to restrict use from time to time.
SAME. It’s so hard on hands/arms! It seems to have gotten a bit better in recent months, but man…that pulling - ugh. 😖
@@Stacymakes It's great for blankets for sure, but every time I try to make a plushie with it, I have regrets because of the strain.

I believe those eyes are 30mm ❤️❤️
Please do more retreats! You filled up so fast.
We will see what the future holds! Id love to do more but only have so many vacation days 🥰🤣

I used an 8mm for the jumbo sweet snuggles. ❤️. Glad they're useful!!

So tragic because I've had some that was lovely. Then this batch was horrible. 🙄
Hello!! I just found your channel today because I love crocheting too! I was just curious when your chicken nugget pattern was from? Thank you ❤
I freehand the chicken nuggets. There are a lot of free patterns on IG though if you're looking for one. ❤️
@ Great!! Thank you 💖

Chez (shay) / doux (doo)/ cotton ( this one is tricky; just say cotton lol)
Thank you! 🤣
Hi, the Amazon link doesn't work for me. Do you have a link for the corduroy bag?
They came from Shein.
@Stacymakes thank you 😊
Whos Pattern is the Capybara i cant find it
Plushico_Patterns
Thank you
I would be so happy if I could join to your retreat, but it's almost impossible as I live in Hungary 🥹 It would be a once in a lifetime tour for me 😅
Oh my that would be a huge trip!!! 😅
I understand about the Bernat! I only use Bernat now but only the new formula so I have to shop in person. 🧶
Yes! The new formula is way better! 😄
