- Hello everybody, we just wanted to make it known that although there are better member guides out there for Stray Kids, we decided to start with this simple guide due to our busy schedules. Until we can find the time to review a longer video, we figured we should at the very least start somewhere. Like many of you, we also felt as though we are long overdue for a member guide! Thank you for taking this journey with us and giving us feedback in the comments, we hope you enjoy watching this 2023 guide with us!

Hello everybody, we just wanted to make it known that although there are better member guides out there for Stray Kids, we decided to start with “A Simple Guide to Stray Kids (2023 Edition)” due to our busy schedules. 5:59 bang chan is now third artist in korea overall with 180+ songs. changbin and han are 9th and 10th
I like this guide; it provided equal information about everyone. Although I wanted you to react to a longer guide so that you could know their personalities too, but I can understand, because of your busy schedule you reacted to this one. Anyway, this one is still good in terms of offering basic knowledge about the group and its members.
1st generation groups that debut between 1990 to 2004
2nd generation groups that debut between 2005 to 2011
3th generation groups that debut between 2012 to 2017
4th generation groups that debut between 2018 to 2022
And we are now in the 5th generation groups that debut in 2023 and so on .
I still can't believe it's already 5th gen. I feel so old haha

Yeah yeah yeah 😊 but simply put a new generation in K-pop will start whenever a new bunch of group will debut and get recognization worldwide even though they are new
@@kahisstudio9921 Well yes and no. There is no real explanation to when a new gen starts, some people say we are still in 4th gen because each gen is around 7 years.
But most people say that a new gen starts when the concept of groups and style feels different than the other gen. Like Ateez, Skz, LE SSERAFIM and Aespa are 4th gen, and they feel VERY different than 3rd gen groups. But the so called 5th gen groups: Xikers, babymonster, kiss of life and zerobaseone also feel a lot different than 4th gen groups.
So a new gen is in my opinion started when a bunch on new groups debut and they feel considerably different than the current gen
@@TMC_TimeLineAye this is semi correct. A new gen starts when there is a major shift in the k-pop industry. Either through sound of the groups or through other major events/new influences in kpop and globalisation. That's why there's no strict cut-off point for generations bc there is not a definite definition.
K-Pop generations occur every seven or nine years, and each generation has characteristics, events, and fashions that occurred according to each year in which they occurred. For example, the first generation of K-Pop started from the year 1990 to 2002 and ended, and among the famous bands that were in it were H.O.T, S.E.S, and many of them, and the second generation began in the year 2003. To 2010 and ended, and among the famous groups that included Girls’ Generation, BigBang, 2PM, Miss A, 2ne1 and others, the third generation began from the year 2010 to the year 2016 and ended. Among the famous groups that included BTS, BLACKPINK, TWICE, EXO and others, and the fourth generation began from the year 2017 to 2022 and ended, and among the famous bands that were STRAY KIDS, ITZY, Aespa, TXT, G-IDLE, ATEEZ, IVE and others, and the fifth generation began in the year 2023, and we do not know in what year it ends, but among the famous bands currently in it are Baby Monster, RIIZE and Boynextdoor Zerobaseone, Xikers, Kiss Of Life and others
These are the kings of every generation:
First Generation: H.O.T
Second generation: 2ne1, BigBang, and Wonder Girls
Third generation: BTS, BLACKPINK, EXO, and TWICE
Fourth generation: STRAY KIDS, TXT, ITZY, AESPA, G-IDLE, ATEEZ
Fifth generation: Baby Monster, Zerobaseone, RIIZE, Boynextdoor, and Xikers

So it's a 2-way interpretation, we make Stray Kids Stay, and Stray Kids make us Stay.😊
As Seungmin once said in an interview, from the word STRAY, you took out the 'R' so it forms 'STAY'. 'R' then means 'Reason', the Reason for Stray Kids existence, it's us.💓

Ugh never realised that guide spelled Chan’s name Bahng Christopher Chahn. It was like that on Wikipedia and I changed it because it’s wrong, just Bang ‘Christopher’ Chan. Think the confusion is from his sister spelling it with a h Bahng to differentiate herself and it also helps Americans mostly in trying to pronounce it because of the difficulties you have with short vowels.
Thanks for watching a guide and hopefully you’ll have time for another one at some point. For pronunciation difficulties, it does help to learn hangul because romanisation makes things complicated, spelling 우 (can also be written as oo like in Namjoon) and 어 (can be written eo like Seokjin, Hoseok) both as a u. Taehyun’s is also Taehyeong and for Hyunjin it’s Hyeonjin not Hyoonjin if you look at the hangul used 😊
I don't know what's on Chan's birth certificate or his AUS passport, but his parents also use the Bahng spelling on their social media, not just Hannah
@@TiaTruly Interesting thanks for letting me know, I'm not very good with social media. Maybe he does in personal life and the other spelling of Bang is his Korean/idol life? Can't see that they'd spell Chan Chahn, though, when it's such a classic name but whatever they want to do I guess.
Chan has talked about how Bahng Christopher Chahn is his actual legal name that he has to write out when signing stuff so no it isnt wrong. Like its even his legal name on KOMCA we saw it with #lovestay. You should change that back
@@thatstay3916 Went on to try, but think they've already deleted the page- it had a message when I went on that some editor had nominated the page to be deleted and it was waiting to be done. Everytime I try and click on it, it just redirects to the Stray Kids page so think it's gone. Google though shows it as Chahn Bahng still before the redirection, so they're obviously smarter than I am. I've checked and the list of songs page is still there, so that one is spelt correctly and explains he's better known by Korean name and stage name, but an editor has nominated that for deletion too, so that page won't be there for long I guess.
Seungmin is really an incredible and just amazing person in every sense, he manages everything, no matter what he undertakes, he is good at everything. Amazing vocals also writes songs himself. Few people know that he was still in the dance club at school. His movements in choreography are always so natural and clear,
as if without a drop of effort, he plays the guitar, plays baseball, football and bowling superbly at first glance you wouldn't think but he is very hardy. I will never stop admiring Seungmin.

Seungmin explained how they ended up with the name STAY for their fandom in the teens react interview. He said group name is STRAY KIDS, they took the 'R' from STRAY which means the 'REASON' for STRAY KIDS.
They was actually another name HAVEN which was acctually decided by them at the beginning (ig) which means a safe place for the strays. SKZ have a song called HAVEN and also a song called YOU CAN STAY

I’ve always love seeing people react to Stray Kids guide and discovering them even more. Other additional facts Stray Kids survival show was actually them as a group trying to debut together but members could possibly be eliminated. From the beginning their goal was to debut as a group. Choosing of members by Chan was done before the reality show even begun which I think made them closer to each other cause they did not compete against each other like most boy/girl group who went through a reality show, they were doing task and missions to make sure that all of them will be in the group in the end. Also Lee Know and Felix was actually eliminated and was just given another chance to debut at the end. They also have contents on their channel on how they record the songs and album intros that would explain what each song is about which is so interesting to watch other than their music, they also have SKZ- codes with different contents and concepts some are skits, some are silly games and competitions and just them goofing around. I hope to see more Stray kids contents from you guys. It is always fun to watch new reactions to Stray kids. 😁
there's a lot of information in that guide that's wrong tbh. specifically felix wasn't street cast, he sent in an online application to jype and got an audition and that's why he moved to south korea. hyunjin was street cast while shopping with his mom and had no prior desire to be an idol.
stop spreading false information. felix indeed was. he even talked about it several times, including the most recent RachaLog and one interview (i believe for vogue in 2021?)

So to breakdown the 'generations' of K-Pop, we'll need a bit of a history lesson. (Brace yourself, it's gonna be a long one)
To trace the origin of how this phenomenon started as an industry, you've got to go back to 1992 - with the debut of Seo Taiji and Boys (pronounced suh tay-jee)
You could say that they started a boom in the Korean music industry. The groups that followed after from 1992 to about 2000 are considered the 1st generation - artists like H.O.T, Shinhwa, S.E.S, Fin.KL, g.o.d etc.
The 2nd generation technically started after, but some consider this to be a transition period, because many artists from the 1st gen became soloists or there were new soloists debuting (e.g. Lee Hyo-ri from Fin.KL or BoA from SM Entertainment)
Many consider the 2nd gen to begin around 2003-04, with the debut of soloists Rain, Se7en and TVXQ. Many groups followed, Super Junior, 2PM, Shinee, Big Bang (pronounced Shiny), Wonder Girls, Girls' Generation and 2NE1 - just to name a few.
This is where you start to see the K-Pop industry form into what we know today.
The 2nd Generation ends or cuts off around the 2010s. By this time, 3 entertainment/records labels have emerged as big players in the industry - known as the Big 3 : SM, JYP, and YG.
Their acts are incredibly successful and popular, and win music shows and awards every time round. I would say the 3rd Generation begins when EXO (a SM boy group) debuts in 2012.
This generation also includes BTS, NCT, Red Velvet, Twice, Seventeen, Monsta X etc.
Again, here's where the transition between 3rd and 4th Generation becomes tricky, as some consider 3rd Gen to end around 2017, but some believe that it ended earlier in 2016. For me, the transition happened when BTS gained recognition and popularity stateside around 2017, so that debuted the year after are 4th generation. Some use the rise of reality audition survival shows as a point of reference, with project groups forming out of these programs. (e.g. IOI (these are letters not numbers btw), Wanna One).
Thus, we arrive at the 4th generation - which is not the latest btw. So, as you already know, SKZ is part of this, along with groups like Tomorrow X Together (TXT) - BTS' label mates and juniors, ATEEZ, ITZY etc.
We're already transitioned over to the 5th Generation, which began with the debut of ZeroBaseOne (ZB1) in July 2023. They were formed through a reality audition survival competition (similar to what I mentioned before) - so all groups debuting after are considered 5th generation.

Strange that the guide uses their debut roles and then gets them wrong anyway, Seungmin wasn’t main vocalist at debut, and I’m not sure he ever actually technically became it as they got rid of their roles a bit after Woojin left (he was actually their main vocalist). Their first title track after he left, Jisung (Han) took on the main vocal role and people were thinking that was how it was going to stay because Seungmin wasn’t quite ready. He made amazing progress though and has definitely been main vocal worthy since not much after that!

Danceracha performed in Team Mayfly's Wolf (EXO) performance. They, alongside Ateez's demon line and BTOB's Peniel, took a very difficult and technical routine that catered to each group's specific strengths and won the dance competition at Kingdom. They performed minus Hyunjin and IN stepped in to fill the void.
One thing that always annoys me about guides is that they always mention that Han is an ace while forgetting Chan is one too, before Kingdom let the wider public know about Han, Bang Chan was the one people referred to as such. He didn't stop to be one just because Han also has that title now. Especially considering most stray kids members are aces it feels biased to only give that title to Han (which I love to bits, he's just not the only member who is multitalented)

there is actually an interview of them that I think might help as well "Stray kids answer the web's most asked questions". even though they're silly and funny in it, the do answer a lot of questions that new stays may have :)

I highly recommend watching the detailed 2023 guide by TeaNoSuga, it’s a bit long but it goes into such good details and it gives you more on their personalities and more on their talent!! But great video😄
