    Can we go back to good racing like this.

      The racing in NASCAR got pretty bleak for awhile, more the guys that were doing all the winning, than the racing it self (IMO of course)
      Here recently tho, with the emergence of Chase, Blaney, Larsen & a couple more young'ins, it seems like NASCAR has FINALLY pointed the ship back on course again 🤞🙏

    This was my last (of four total) Nascar race that I attended in person. Got to see Davey win this one, as well as the Iroc race the day before. Still have my #28 tee shirt I bought that weekend, as I was a big fan of his and the Yates team. After he & Alan's deaths the following year, I don't think the sport was ever the same for me.

    There are 2 names that are synonymous with stock car racing at Daytona & Talladega & those names are Allison & Earnhardt, the 2 most dominant names in the history of both Speedways...

      @johnanderson60 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That is great and all. Daytona is KING PETTY all day long... 7 500's trumps qualifiers and demo races... sorry, 43=Daytona

      @SDRacing88 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Trumps nothing if you're in the know. Petty's last 500 win ('81) when nascar mandated wheelbase, and he won that on a fuel mileage race. Not taking anything away from the man, but when he won most of his races with everybody running different size engines/cars, etc, kinda takes some of the luster out of it. And he was one of the first with big sponsorship. Once Nascar went to the modern era, he wasn't really a factor. Kinda funny that nascar's warehouse full of "unapproved" parts is full of Petty's LMAO. Cant blame a man for trying. Prime for Prime, Petty couldn't hold Earnhardts jock.

    • @tuccimane
      @tuccimane 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Petty success was similar to how formula 1 is. Not cars were equal back then. More money = more success. Not saying petty wasn't a good driver he just could afford to build a better car. Earnhardt kept continuing his success even through the restrictive plate. Im convinced that man could see the wind.

      @@drivin379 Especially Tim Richmond. He liked to intimidate The Intimidator. Indeed, the 90s was robbed of some elite drivers that would have made NASCAR in the 90s even better.

    The 1992 Winston America 500 was the first NASCAR Race under the GMA Rainbow Satellite banner that was aired on May 4, 1992. This race was produced by SilverStar Communications, Inc. and was aired via tape delay at 2:30 P.M. after Goodyear NASCAR Today with Rico Hizon and Bobby Guanzon as it introduced a new theme music that came from the NFL on CBS

    At 1:040;30 the discussion in the booth is, should NASCAR run a race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. What a mistake that was, that was since the racing stinks with NASCAR at IMS.
    Then Dr. Punch interviews then car owner Kenny Bernstein who's car with Rebirto Garrario won the pole for the Indy 500 and spun and wrecked on the pacelap.

    • @gaseousclay9529
      @gaseousclay9529 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      maybe its a mistake if you are only looking at it from the "does IMS make exciting racing?" perspective but that wasn't the reason they chose to go there. with nascars growth at the time linking themselves to the most historic and well known racetrack helped get them more respect, credibility and notoriety. if you said that nascar still racing at IMS is a mistake, I would probably agree. but in the nineties it helped their brand immensely and i'm sure they in no way regret it.

    • @TheNASCARJeff
      @TheNASCARJeff 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I meant that NASCAR is "still" racing at IMS and the racing stinks
