You are the kind of international student that Canada needs and the kind of individual that Canada would be lucky to have!

A lot of these kids aren’t even graduating, they arrive in Canada to never return.

You have made solid points & you’re balanced in your approach. That said, the vast majority of the affected “students” are from India, specifically Punjab and Gujurat, and they used the student visa avenue to get into Canada with NO INTENTION of returning home. NONE whatsoever. Some were duped by so called immigration consultants that led them to believe there was an easy pathway to residency. They are now making a spectacle and public nuisance of themselves… protesting failing grades, protesting that they’re not being given PR status… seriously???!!! They need to go home.

    • @tiffany.Elizabeth.

They weren’t duped. They knew exactly what they were doing when they applied with their fake documents

These student are behaving like the government made them promises, like the government owe them something. They need to humble themselves. They knew exactly they came as students. They behaving very entitled especially the majorities

    • @kimberlyskye2024

Exactly a lot of these international students act so entitled like we owe them PR, I’ve met some who are rude and literally try to scam you for status like beg you to marry them after a month. Canadians are very friendly but they are taking advantage of us and the system. You came here on a student visa that means you come to study

    • @kimberlyskye2024

not really. You know who you keep in your country but I can tell you guys are in the wrong direction. Your grocery bill will continue to increase, rent will be higher, you know why? Bcuz there are so many Ukrainians and Africans who keep giving birth, getting government support by taking your taxes, doing nothing while we students offer to this country our skills, passion, intelligence, paying taxes, I personally paid 35 000 CAD taxes in 2023. Would you send me home, fire me from my job and keep an African refugee instead whom if government wants, they can verify that the documents they submitted are either fake, or not necessarily a good reason for a refuge grant! I can tell you personally 10 people with names who became PR after lying to IRCC with their refugee claims!

Having an open mind is the key, I came as worker then policy changed, I went back to school then policy changed in 2014. I did not get upset or protest because jamaica would never refused me nor was police looking for me. I am now a citizen and still have a open mind❤

It's very difficult to save as international students you had things a little easier than others bare in mind the fees are very high and they still have overheads therefore continuing education as international students can be very difficult. Studying in Canada does not guarantee pr it's takes alot of money to trod the school route. If they can't stay they will have to go home but off course they took the risk to try and get a supposedly better life for themselves and family. You can be refused a pgwp as well its not a right

Uhraine it may be a good idea to learn French in the your spare time. There are many online programs that you can learn French on your phone through your headphones and online with your laptop and of course TH-cam has free French learning lessons that will help you to catch on quickly.. If you learn French over the next couple of years it will help you in your long term goal.
Also as you said having French as your one of your languages it will help you get your permanent stay.
By the the time you graduate your full Bachelors Degree and have French language in your skill bank.
Its going to aid you in your journey and job search. Accountant jobs will require you to have a Degree as a starting point, then experience of the work , then you working towards your CPA before they even look your C.V.

One correction. If you have a pending application with IRCC you are allowed to stay in the country until you get a response from them. You would be on "Maintained Status".
Talking from experience. My work permit was about to expire and I put in another work permit application a couple of days before and I was allowed to stay in the country on maintained status. Sometimes it can take months before anybody looks at your application. So that can buy you some more time in the country.

I like your outlook on this topic. Just a minor clarification, a post-graduate work permit isn't guaranteed or a "right" for every international student (@9:17). Students have to meet certain criteria, study at a designated learning institute, should generally be full-time, study for a minimum of 8 months, etc. (I believe a program of 2+ years makes one eligible for a PGWP of up to 3 years, and it's less for shorter programs). But it's not a blanket guarantee or a right for each student.

I think to be fair...most of us have been in that position where we're looking to get a proper education AND we are looking to stay in Canada. At the end of the day, the ultimate goal is to stay in Canada. That is why most of us chose Canada for our schooling. I understand where you're coming from though, that it shouldn't be the sole reason for coming to school but it's definitely a long term goal so it's devastating when you can't achieve that and for a lot of us it's considered failing to achieve our goal of studying and living abroad, starting life in a new country. So, I definitely agree with your position here and you're totally correct - this was never promised to us but on the flip side, I understand a lot of students who's families have sacrificed a lot to come out here in the hopes that they get their education and ultimately make a life for themselves. For those people who are getting fake degrees and abusing the system..good riddance.

As a FRENCH individual, here is my perspective; we humans look for what is good for us!!! I am French (I consider myself very lucky as France is a very stable and prosperous economy) but many French also look for better opportunities abroad, namely in Switzerland (higher salary and better work packages but that influx created a xenophobia against French living in Swiss) and the US (tech jobs mainly, which are better paid than in France)!!! We ALL do it!!! Many white South African women also do everything to marry British, Germans, Canadians on purpose (the media never mentions that and we know why) so that they can escape the extreme environment in South Africa!!!! It is just that the media tends to focus on black and brown people as it sells better!!! Eastern Europeans flock into Western Europe (yes we all know that!!!), take british jobs or German jobs!!! Ohhh and did you forget those many North Americans who flock to Mexico, and South America to run away from the horrendous cost of living!!!! Same for those many Canadians (a common trend those last years) who start to flock into the US to run away from higher living costs in Canada and for higher paid jobs in the US!!!! Okay may be some lesser developed countries do it but let’s realize that WE Europeans also move and emigrate when things turn “grill our ar**s” where we live!!!! Ohhh and have we forgotten already those Italians who moved to France in 1900s to escape misery and hunger in Italy!!!! Ohhh …. we already forgot!!!! And what about the Ukrainians, many of whom come to Canada now and take jobs and reap benefits from the local? Some even “taking” others husbands and breaking locals’marriages (happened to a colleague of mine last year)!!! Ohh sorry, you guys are still very busy focusing on the ones that are …. Tanned;) so soooorrry!

@@yonettejames3979 No..they are correct. All TFWs know their expiration date in Canada. Especially if you're on a PGWP which had no extension in place, it's either, get the opportunity to apply for PR before it expires or leave (or leave if you're application is denied) - that's a one time deal and if you can't get PR, you have to leave. It's a contract that you agreed to. You can't agree to the contract and then complain that it's unfair when it doesn't work out how you want it to.

The international students and foreign workers should just return home if their status expires. You will still have the CRS points for the study and work that you did in Canada and you can still get an ITA from your home country. If they remain in Canada illegally after their status expires they will be making things worse for themselves.
