Prefer the old 2014 bard as having access to all classes spell lists exceeds anything the 2024 bard can do.
Simulacrum alone on the 2014 bard puts 2024 to shame.
2014 hand book the Bard was on par with druid in power if used correctly which most didn't as they picked up laughable thing like fireball.
Only classes stronger then the Bard & druid was the paladin & wizard.
I do think martial are a tad more powerful but are still dwarfed by Full-casters.

Yeah losing access to other class spell lists doesn’t feel so bad when you can literally take only Wizard, Druid and Cleric spells for the rest of your career.
Literally half your spells can be from a different class if you want.
Honestly I’d take that over choosing any spell like… twice. And that’s it.

It just hurts that there is no longer a class that could potentially have any spell in the game
And yet, there are people screaming that bards are so powerful now that they can choose from FOUR other classes, without ever seeming to realize that it's a nerf from what they could do originally.
@@roguebarbarian9133 the buff part is that they can now use magical secrets on EVERY spell they learn later on, but I liked the idea that no matter what classes a spell is given to, there is always a full caster that can learn it

The 2024 Glamour Bard is SO busted because of the change to casting spells
For those who don’t know in the 2024 book it says instead of levelled spell it says a spell that consumes a spell slot can’t be cast as Bonus Action if a spell slot consuming spell is cast as Action. And since Glamour can cast command without a spell slot as a bonus action, it’s horrifying. Charm them so they auto fail saves against you and command them to grovel so all you and allies have advantage against them. Absolutely horrifying
You should make a "2014" vs 2024 Artificer rap, where it's just a minute of the first one waiting for the other to show up, which they never do, and then the video just ends.
Divine Inspiration lasts for an hour? I totally wasn't planning to have it homebrewed for be 24 for context for my specific campaign plans...

Not really? Like what, bardic lasts longer? It doesn't matter if it lasts ten minutes, an hour, or a day - nobody ever casts bardic unless they're in combat or doing a clutch skill roll; it could last six seconds, and that would be long enough for 95% of use cases. Countercharm kind of works now? Good, it sucked before. Some of bard's sucky subclasses suck a little less? Again, good. Since they got rid of song of rest and changed magical secrets to only apply to four classes, which, while it does apply for more spells, barely anyone plays past level 10 anyway, bard feels like it was almost nerfed, in comparison to the cool stuff some of the other classes got.

Amazing! Missed opportunity to cross out the 4 and put a 6 in to make it 12d6 vicious mockery damage instead. That would have been the final nail in the coffin.

So far barbarian and bard are... Improved. But I will not forgive what they did to my paladin, my boy, how they mutilated him...
I feel like the 2024 rules just tweaked a few things for some of the classes and it really emphasized like improving some of the subclasses.

I will say this, for the 2014 edition, I will miss the Enthralling Performance from the College of Glamour. It added more RP options and it being an unnoticeable charm-like effect was nice.
2014 bard should’ve taken 14d6 damage, since Vicious Mockery got buffed

For those who are curious, Tales of Fablecraft is its *own* RPG system, using d6s. (This was what I needed to know most, so, thought I'd share what I found.)

Well made, quite liked it, but something felt off in both this and the barbarian video and I think i've figured out what. With the direction the dm/moderator looks, 2014 is implied to be at stage left (barbarian video more so than this one, but still) and thus 2024 at stage right. Meanwhile the background shows a wall of text next to a pillar, this background has a different coloured pillar for each side and is also flipped, this implies a wall of text between two pillars except since 2014 (stage left) has the pillar on the right side and 2024 (stage right) has the pillar on the left, this implies the wall goes: Text-Pillar-Pillar-Text when the background itself implies a wall of text flanked by two pillars: Pillar-Text-Text-Pillar
I can't wait for the 2014 to smack down 2024 Paladin, having to _CAST_ Smite rather than adding it when you hit? and where does the power come from _before_ level 3? 🤪
Still terrified and yet intrigued for the debate between the 2014, and 2024 Rangers. In particular 2024 Ranger brining up finally having Spells at Level 1, and getting a new fighting style in the form of Druidic Warrior which places a focus on the Ranger being a not only a stealthy warrior but a spellcaster who uses the Primal Magic powered by Nature, and the 2014 Ranger mentioning how Fey Wanderer seems like a reskinned version of Horizon Walker Ranger, and keeping three classic subclasses from 2014 that being the fan-favorite Gloomstalker, the neutral Hunter, and the god-awful Beastmaster.
Having built a bard with the dedicated goal of getting Find Greater Steed from the paladin list, I'm a little sad. My steed that I summoned was a massive winged snow leopard, and she was an entire other character in our campaign.
But, eh, I didn't really do, like, mounted combat with her or anything. Just turned us invisible for recon flights, then did combat on foot while she hid somewhere. I bet most DMs would still let me have her as just a flying mount who can telepathically convey her catty sarcasm to me.

The only thing that 2024 Bard is missing is rapier proficiency. There's plenty of stuff that makes up for that, of course, but still, the rapiers were very nice thematically.
