This film was just everything I didn't want it to be, you literally are saying exactly what I was thinking about this film lol. Viking Samurai is also in this film and this is essentially one of the Bloodsport ripoffs that he would diss had he not been in it of course

Bro, that’s Chung Li’s son, Bolo Yeung, a.k.a. David Bolo Yeung. He should’ve been the main villain. He looks great on screen. I don’t think people understand how hard it is to make a movie. What did you guys expect, The Godfather? It’s an ’80s and ’90s action movie on a tight budget. At least somebody is out there trying to make those old-school movies again.

I just saw that someone criticized you for not knowing that this is a fan film and now the comment is gone. I guess you erased it. I was about to write the same. This flick said a crowdfunded fan film and you clearly don’t know much about these type of films. At least mention that this is a fan film when you are so disrespectful to it. Also removing comments is very low dude. When you criticize people you should at least allow people to call you out on your bs
I do know this is a fan film… but that does not need to be mentioned because fan film, Indi film, any film put out there is still a MOVIE 🎥

That and Blanks was Karate tournament champion and creator of TaeBo... he's a legend for sure!

Unfortunately he got hurt during filming and they had to keep his scene short. That's why he wasn't doing much in his fight.

This movie was made for the people who enjoyed the B Grade Martial Arts films, I enjoyed it as a throwback, music was freaking cool like you said, fight scenes I thought were well done, but like any movie that was made on an extremely low budget, there was definitely some flaws.
It was an ode to the 80s legends, and the music. It was cool as hell seeing Mustapha from Lionhart, Tong Po from Kickboxer, Mathias Hues from Kickboxer 2, Kurt Mckinney from No Retreat NO surrender, Billy Blanks from King of the Kickboxers, and Cynthia Rothrock of China Obrien. This movie checked all the boxes for those who live off nostalgia.
I think the only actor in this movie to have any kind of real on screen charisma was Chong Lee’s son now that’s what I call a missed opportunity. Hertzog and Bush knew what they were doing, at least there’s that. They made it sound like this was a love letter to the genre then it was an absolute abomination story was horrible. Acting was horrible.😢
My biggest gripe with the film is I can’t find the ending credits song ANYWHERE. They even include its name in the credits by “Lostrite” but nothing 🤣

I mean, the story was pretty basic and the acting was kind of bad but it still a good movie lol. I see exactly what they're trying to do. They just trying to make this movie as realistic but Nostalgic as possible. Without the CGI and extra technology. And tbh they should bring those back fr. Bring back that Nostalgic feel where there isnt need for CGI and extra effects.

My god this movie is so poor, it's an insult to the B martial arts movies back then. The movies back then had a charm, & some of the actors could really act like Jeff Wincott.
The main star of this movie is no star. No charisma, no star quality, no looks to pull girls in.
No1 rule: A Kumite movie requires the lead star to have a fall head of hair, not a comb over trying to save the guitar shaped balding hairline.
I can't remember the last time I wanted to see a film this bad after seeing this review.
I enjoyed it. Yeah it's not the greatest martial arts movie ever, and bloodsport is much better, but it's still cheesy fun and the fights were great.
Billy Blanks played a Miyagi type janitor in an old action movie where he trains this high school kid. I think it’s a nod to that.

It's a great and fun film. People who complain about the story honestly are delusional when it comes to 80s fighting films. I loved the fights and music. Ordered the steelbook two days ago

Haha well said Rodney, he could of at least done some research about the film, had no idea it was crowdfuned or a fan film or that Bolo's son was in it, or even who Billy Blanks is. Just wanted to hang shit on a movie because he can.

There seems to be people giving this movie a lot of shit for no reason and not undestanding it. The movie was made with no budget, the budget they got was basically crowdfunded, the movie was not meant to be an epic oscar award winning film, it was a passion project, they were not making it to make money. They made it to bring back the type of martial arts movies they made in the 80's and early 90s. If you are watching this film for great cinematography or great acting or great story or anything else you will be dissapointed, the movie was made for fans of that type of action flick back in the day who grew up with them in the 80s and 90s. So if you are younger than 40 you probably won't get much out of it. I have heard people say "oh they should of got JCVD" etc, yea they would of like too, but they couldn't afford him. Again there was no money in this movie, it was a crowdfunded passion project made for die hard fans of 80's and early 90s action flicks, pretty sure the old school actors like Rothrock and Blanks wouldn't of got paid much at all for their roles in the movie, because for them like the creators it wasn't about the money it was about the passion. If you are going to hang shit on it, maybe know a bit more about it first, and why it is like it is.
You say "give me the money and I'll make a better one" ok well since they had to crowdfund the money for it, how about you go crowdfund the money like they did and lets see what you come up with?
Oh and one more thing, this wasn't meant to be a bloodsport sequel, more of a homage to bloodsport and action movies like it from back in the 80s and early 90s.

I just want to point out that the janitor is not some random black guy, that's Billy Blanks who was big name in low budget B action movies. He never got the stardom of JCVD but he was fairly popular in 80-90s and blonde dude he was fighting is Matthias Hues, who was also familiar name in these types of movies. He would always play bad guy because he was freakin huge. Two of them appeared in couple of movies opposite each other, in a way they are JCVD-Bolo Young pairing.
I also love Cynthia Rothrock shows up including Quaisi brothers (one of them most famously being Tong Po, and other being Mongolian warrior from Quest and Attila from Lionheart)
I agree the music was the best part of the movie. I thought the movie had a few okay moments but definitely the worst acting was from the draco character. I understand they were going for that 80s action movie nostalgia, but it ultimately failed in my opinion.

You were a bit harsh, but most of what you said was true. My biggest problem was with the Kumite itself. The fights should have been longer. The camera work should have had some long scenes and not just a bunch of quick cuts. Everyone who starred in this film had serious martial arts ability and the movie failed to showcase this properly. I can forgive the shitty dialog, weak plot, and sometimes weak acting, as long as the fights were top notch, but they weren't. Which is a shame. The fights should have been epic! If they were everyone would have given this better reviews. Still, I hope that they are able to make more films like this, but hopefully the makers of the film will listen to the complaints and learn from their mistakes. We need films like this. We don't get them anymore. All we get is stupid hero stuff and bad fan fiction Star wars movies.

They wanted to do more with the film, they couldn't they didn't have the money, they had to crowdfund the money on kickstarter, and barely got enough to do what they could do. So before being too critical, they could only do what they could given the budget they had, which was not much at all.
What could make the movie better:
- A more charismatic lead, not a shy stiff guy like the one in the movie
- Some comic relief, humor
- Less stiff actors, including the lead!
- No "girl-power" women fighting vs guys, if girls fights they can fight other girls.
-Some hot girl.
- Maybe some better anti-digital looking filter for the video.
Maybe a budget. They had no money to get better actors or do anything really it was a crowdfunded movie.

The movie was average, nice to see some of the old guys, you must like them. Soundtrack was made by the same guy who did the music in Bloodsport btw. Did you do any research at all? Girls fighting men is not based in reality, this was “political correctness” BS of course.

Stan Bush and actors like Rothrock, Blanks, Mckinney, and Hues brought back serious nostalgia. Seeing them in that movie was worth the 14 bucks to buy. Running the Gauntlet is the best martial arts song in a movie since I can recently remember. But again thats the magic of Stan Bush. Dude could make the crappiest martial arts movie seem like the best.

If you're not a fan of the late 80s 90s Blockbuster video era of action movies Then this movie isn't for you. And that janitor is Billy blanks who's been in 20+ martial art films from the 80s 90s era the inventer of the tae Bo craze lol and also Kurt McKinney no retreat no surrender, Cynthia Rothrock the lady dragon, Michel Qissi kick boxer and his brother Abdel Qissi Lionheart and of course Matthias Hues I come in peace... Again if you didn't recognize any of those guys you're probably not going to like the movie. This movie is strictly a nostalgia genre film for fans. I agree with you about the main villain I found him to be more cringe then menacing. The main star I thought he was ok but lacked the screen presence that a green Van Damme had in Bloodsport...for me I enjoyed the film because I knew what I was getting a cheesy nostalgia 90s action B fan film with a basic plot. A film like this should be reviewed through The eyes of the 90s era of action B movies... if you're not a diehard fan of the 90s action cheese then avoid this film because you're only going to trash it... other than that enjoy the nostalgia of a time and era that low-budget action films ruled your corner video store shelves 😂
Mate I’m a huge fan of all the B grade and classic 80s and 90s films… I’ll admit I didn’t recognise a lot of these stars because they look older now and haven’t seen them in years… but I don’t watch movies for the stars, or look it all up first… takes away my view on what I’m watching. And unfortunately this didn’t deliver… it just didn’t work for me… but that’s my review, that’s my personal opinion and that’s fantastic that people do love it. But my view it wasn’t good and I’ll keep re watching all the old school stuff 👍🏻🔥 but I’ll give em one thing… the music and score was fantastic
This has made me wanna go back and rewatch Bloodfist 1 & 2 now as I’ve not seen them since the VHS days

This movie was really so so so bad in a bad way, bloodsport and movies like that from the 80/90's are bad in a good way, but this really is crap. Fan Made movie for the fans and i am huge fan of older movies like this but in 2024 movies should not suck this bad. Some say this movie is awesome and it has the New van damme rising action star David "viking samurai" kurzhal in it and all me, My brother and sister could think while watching this movies was, how can someone think that guy has anything to offer to the movie business. Acting was robotic and Basic kicks, nothing special. I enjoyed this review, thanks 💪👍

LOL Bloodsport 3 to 5 was hot garbage, Last Kumite was for people who missed the 80s actors like Rothrock, Blanks and Mckinney. It checked to boxes of the audience it was catering to.
