    We’ve been coming to Florida for 25 years, 2 to 3 times a year and use the B528 Toll Road from MCO to the tourist areas. There is only one toll booth on this route which is manned and costs $2.50. We always pay as we go and it’s surprising how quickly you accumulate quarters during your trip. We keep a bag of quarters in the car and it couldn’t be easier. We always make sure we have at least $5.00 worth of quarters for our return trip. Never been afraid to use toll roads and always have quarters to hand should we happen to come across a toll booth by mistake. We’ve driven to and from Miami several times and again as long as you have those quarters it’s a piece of cake. Why buy special equipment or “run” through tolls and give money away when it’s so easy to pay as you go with a few saved handful of quarters. If it’s your first ever trip and you only have notes, there are several shops at MCO departures that will change notes for you.

      agree both the 528 and 417 have manned toll booths going towards Disney. So as long as you have a few dollars cash you are fine and they give change

      Hey, this is useful, obviously the guys mentioned keeping cash to hand, does it need to be coins? Worried about being caught out by the tolls. I'll be digging out my old coin purse with the USD in

    Really good guide guys, going in May so going to try the visitors toll pass, can't believe someone would put a 👎 for this vlog, it's probably one of the best information vlogs for using toll roads on TH-cam at the moment. ..

    The Number 4 - Visitor Toll Pass is the BEST option if you are going from the UK to Florida. We want with this and we were there for nearly 4 weeks and we used the Toll roads all the time. We drove a full road trip of Florida and went, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Miami, Florida City, Key West, the Everglades, Venice beach, Busch Gardens, Kissimmee, Kennedy Space centre. We went all of the toll roads for the full time and only paid $50 for the full time and for all of the roads in total. It's so easy to use. Wot Nick and Leigh say about queuing for the pass isn't really true as they haven't used it. The desk is across the hall from the Alamo pick up desk. They are expecting you as you have booked in advance. Ours was ready to pick up and it was so easy to use and the cheapest and easiest option. I've been to Florida a few times and we did the rental car tolls and the pay cash at tolls and the Visitor Toll pass is defo fastest and cheapest option. It's run by the agency who runs the toll roads and is valid for the entire state. U get billed about 3 or 4 days after u get home as well so it's brilliant

      @@tuzanne put in the address and zip code of the accommodation you are staying at. There is also a drop down to change your country to UK. They accepted my UK credit card fine I had no issues there

    Visitor toll pass scheme is great, I managed to get mine in Orlando airport, we skipped the queue for our car and there was a little
    Booth by the door before you cross the road for the car rental pick up. Was so easy, out in 5 mins and straight to the pick up desk... and plenty of drop off boxes on the way back so
    You wouldn’t forget, 2 full weeks going here there and everywhere cost me $12... great system, if you get the chance, try it! X

    As someone who's worked in the Rental Car industry, it's extremely important you understand the terms and conditions of using the company's toll pass - if you choose that solution. Sometimes they charge people a high fee PER USE, if the pass is used without prior agreement. This sometimes surprises people months after they've returned home from their holidays. Best tip is to always ensure you understand everything and the costs at the rental counter itself, before setting off.

  • @chrisdavis8948
    @chrisdavis8948 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There is a 6th option: Epass transponders. The portable one is 9.99 and the 19.99 version can be used in many other states. I think it has the same registration issues as sunpass (North America address). epass.cfxway.com/EpassWeb/
    Also, the rental car convenience fees are per day instead of per toll.
    FYI, there’s almost never a queue at the visitor toll pass counter, and it is on the way to the parking garage. You can still use it even if you bypass the rental car queue and go directly to the cars.

    We use the toll road Oceola Parkway from Poinciana Blvd as it goes straight to the Disney Gate near Hollywood Studios. Good as you avoid the traffic lights where some times you can wait for ages

    Great video! New subscriber here😊. My parents have lived in the Orlando area for the past 25 years...locals avoid the toll roads as much as possible. "The toll roads were built for tourists" is the local mentality. We agree with that as when we are visiting on vacation, we are willing to pay to get to our destination more quickly.

    • @TheLodgeGuys
      @TheLodgeGuys  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah. We thought locals would just pay them to get away from the tourists or have some kind of monthly thing set up to pay

  • @kassiweaverfallert8630

    My wife and I were driving around in February and opted for roll of quarters and avoiding tolls via Google. There was one incident leaving City Walk where there was construction so avoiding toll was not choice so thankful had change. We arrived in Florida at 0300 so couldn't que for the visitor sunpass program at airport but sounded really good and practical. Another thing to note is some toll booths don't even have cash option is pass use only which is probably most intimidating part of visit and scare tactic the car rental place used to try and get us to buy their 9 dollar day program which just wasn't cost effective for us.

    I always imagined that if I run through a toll road and don’t pay the toll, whether inadvertently or not,
    that I’d see the Florida Highway Patrol, sirens a blazing in my rear view mirror 😱

    Used Alamo last number of trips for skip the counter and good selection of cars. Used Dollar a few years back. Went through toll without paying. They charged a fixed fee of approx $20 plus the toll fee. Checked small print on their site shows they will charge this fixed fee plus the toll fee, each time you pass through toll without paying.

    We've gone through tolls loads, never been scared to use them but can understand people being a bit anxious of how they work. We stay with my granny in titusville, a few miles from Kennedy space center.
    All the tolls we've gone through to get to Orlando have the straight ahead option which is usually sunpass (using a prepaid transmitter like the one you bought) or you vier off to the right where you can choose to go through 'exact coins' where you chuck change into the bucket things or you can go to 'change given' booths that are manned, where you can hand over bigger notes, you then just drive ahead and rejoin the road you were travelling on.
    The only mistake we made was going through exact change booth first time we drive in florida and trying to chuck a dollar bill into it... It doesn't work haha you need coins.

    The Toll transponders that are accepted in Florida are SunPass, E-Pass, LeeWay, NC Quick Pass, Peach Pass, and E-ZPass. If you have any of these transponders (I have E-ZPass), you should have no problems with paying tolls in Florida

    Great vlog. I was just there last week and came upon an unmanned booth and panicked. FYI, I have used National several times in FL, and they are great as well. Join the ‘Emerald Club’ and you always go straight to the Emerald aisle and pick a car, no check in required. Also, I almost always am sent to the Emerald Executive aisle and get really good and free upgrades.

We will be staying on international drive, so just wondering if you think that the visitor toll pass is the best option for this? . We will be also heading down to celebration to hire out some bycyles and wondering if there is any toll roads around that area too

    Hi guys, thanks for the video, it's really useful! Planning a trip in January to Orlando and we plan to drive down to the Keys, if we use the toll roads, are there places to stop and pay on all the toll roads? Just a bit worried about them being automatic and getting a surprise bill 🙃

      Most of the toll roads in Florida are all electronic (including the entire Florida's Turnpike and the Homestead Extension). If you have SunPass, E-Pass, LeeWay, Peach Pass, NC Quick Pass, or E-ZPass, your transponder will work fine
