Aussies readily accept Caucasian South Africans so why aren't you as accepting of Caucasian Hong Kongers? There are millions of us and The Queen was on our money until 1997

I know I'm 3 years late to this... but I want to explain "tall poppy syndrome" properly from the Aussie side. It is NOT resentment about someone doing well. It IS about someone doing well AND THEN getting arrogant about it. Australia is an egalitarian society, even though we're NOT all equal, we maintain the position that we are. People who get arrogant get cut down. On the other hand, we still love Johnny Farnham, Delta Goodram, even Johnny Howard because they've stayed true to themselves.

This was really informative, thanks!I am Namibian and I had the same experience in NZ, folks from RSA didn't really want to help,I asked the Kiwis and got much more help. My suggestion is integrate as fast as possible and make friends with other migrants and locals, not only South Africans.

if south africans come here and only deal with south africans ,they are making a mistake. not integrating and not creating an aussie network .

South Africans integrate extremely well into the Aussie culture, but for some people settling into a new country and sometimes a new language, takes a bit more time than for others. But for 99% plus of SAfricans, there are no issues becoming a part of this amazing Australia 💗

I got very bullied in a s african group. So much arrogance and meanness in that particular one. Totally vile. I grew up in s Africa and for them to treat fellow south africans liket hat is appalling. Make sure u monitor bullying in those groups. Zome s africans r great..some r nasty as. I've helped whoever wants to be helped by thy tend to think thy know better before even having arrived? Some special arrogance in a few of them too much money is my guess. I helped a woman as to what to pack. She messaged me . Of course, there r the nice ones too. I wish everyone good luck. Folks r going back in droves from UK. A lot really are not liking UK.yes, Erwin is a lovely guy!!

Hi LB, yes not everyone is nice and unfortunately there are people who have a sense of entitlement. Well done for helping those out who would like to also live in this incredible country. We will keep doing it for those nice ones, hey! x
