My buddy and I have the SS150 combo, and what's funny is this past weekend, one of my bands rehearsed at my drummers house instead of the regular jam space, and I brought the combo to leave there, and at first we thought the speakers had blown, but the reverbs were just on, turned em off, and as a little 1x12 combo competed with a half stack tube. These things are fuckin' bulletproof and easy to fix. I have a VH140c and even a Crate XLP rack mount, and it's all sick. I run the metalzone through the VH140c because I am insane.
Guys, don't sleep on the SS70 1x12combo, on it's own it's no slouch and it will deliver. Might not have the low end thump depending on the speaker but you can hook up it to a cab. I'm using the Fractal stuff now, but I made a preset that sounds so close to the SS and VH series, but If I have a chance to get either amp I'd jump on it.
According to the VH and SS owners manuals themselves, on the overdirive channel on the SS, the Low and High controls are pre distortion while on the VH they are post distortion. They are centered at the same frequencies so other than that I’m pretty sure they’re almost identical
They are not centered on the same frequencies, you can check the manual. The low/mid/highs are 100hz/1khz/2khz on the VH and 80hz/800hz/1.6khz on the SS. Wildly different voicings, VH is always darker sounding and boomier and the SS can do a modern nasally amp sound if you want it to. But scooped they can get similar despite being very different circuits. SS cuts a LOT better in a live band/rehearsal situation, from experience having had both amps. But the VH sounds exactly like Dying Fetus.
I don’t know what these words mean but this is my new favourite channel
@@stephaniebontorin6167 hell ya thank you so much

Also, Timeghoul used an SS150 combo, the same I mentioned, to record their demos, which are legendary.
