Their new songs are melancholy, sensational, magical and completely unreal wonderful. I myself am 60 years old and have been there from the beginning. They were unique when they made an impact and that keeps them. I still have all their LP and cassettes at my old turntable from that time. Legends never stop singing. ABBA has conquered the world again!! Imagine if everyone could preserve this warm feeling we feel at this moment and take it with us in our harsh world. Greetings from Sweden!
Great reaction. Dig deeper! They were almost as big as The Beatles. They were swarmed by fans in the 70s as if they were The Beatles! Their sound was so authentic, so joyful, and they wrote it all and produced all of it! And those gorgeous voices! It's hard to convey the monumental effect they had on the music industry and their fans. They had sold 400,000,00 million records, and had 28 hits and 9 #1s. Their music stands up today. No auto-tune, no attitude, just pure talent, and love!
So happy you reacted to this! 😁🙏 ABBA is what gave birth to my love for Home Free!! I was born in Sweden in 1970 and ABBA was formed in 1972. They were two couples as Agnetha, the blond, was married to Björn (the lyricist) and Anni-Frid (known as Frida) was in a relationship with Benny (they married in 1978). All four were already well-known and appreciated artists in Sweden when they started ABBA. In 1974 they won the Eurovision Song Contest with Waterloo and their world fame began to take off, especially in Australia. In 1979 Björn and Agnetha divorced, and Benny and Frida divorced in 1981. Both men were re-married in 1981 and they are still married to the same wives. They went on a break in 1982, and that's where it's been ever since. Until now. Agnetha has several solo albums out, from both before and after the ABBA decade. Frida also has solo albums out. Both girls' personal stories after ABBA are super interesting. Agnetha became a seclude who at one point had a two year relationship with her stalker, although she didn't really know he was a stalker beforehand, but they met because he was stalking her. Frida married a real prince and later an English Viscount. The boys went on to creating more stunningly beautiful music together, including the musical Chess and Kristina (från Duvemåla). The musical and film Mamma Mia wasn't written by B&B, but it's written based on and using ABBA's songs. In the 1980's it was shameful to listen to ABBA, maybe especially in Sweden, and it was the gay community that revived it. These days their music is studied in music schools. Before this comeback the biggest age group that streamed ABBA's music on Spotify was 18-24 year olds, and it's many, many millions each month. How many other artists can say that after almost 40 years without new music?! (Their latest album was released in November 1981, and the latest music before these two new songs was released in December1982. The world of music would look very different today without ABBA, their influence is huge. Maybe especially because many of the biggest commercial musical acts all use Swedish songwriters and producers influenced by ABBA, but I would say that most artists and producers have been influenced by them one way or another. Very few people around the world, no matter the age, haven't heard of ABBA or heard one of their songs, and that's actually also unique. The thing about ABBAs music is that on the surface it seems simple, happy, easy and somewhat superficial, but it's actually some of the most complex music of modern times. The harmonies are really tight and deceptively hard to sing even for experienced singers. The musical arrangements are clever, intricate and very complex and the music is also telling a story. The lyrics often seem very specific, but has a depth that touches the heart. And the story telling is always on point. All together it does something to the mind, heart and body and it moves us, both within and without. ABBAs songs are known for bringing out both sadness and joy at the same time, something else that is quite unique. That's ABBA, and that's Home Free to me. The harmonies, the arrangements, the emotions (especially the joy both groups bring out). So different, both so unique, but still so much the same This comeback actually started with the idea of creating a concert using holograms, but that technology was too old so they went with CGI, George Lucas' company, to create avatars, or ABBAtars, as they are called, to perform the upcoming concerts, and a whole new arena is being built in London for the technology. Concerts are premiering in May next year. Once they decided to do the concert they thought a couple of new songs would be a good idea so they wrote and recorded these two songs, and then they figured they might as well do a whole album (to be released in November). Luckily the girls could still sing. They spent 8 hours a day during 5 weeks in costumes measuring their movements, recorded by 160 cameras, with around 100 people assisting, creating their own movements and voices for the concerts and then it was coupled with their 1979 selves, a combination of now and then, to create the ABBAtars, which is what you are seeing at the end of this video when they are on stage under the big ABBA sign, a preview of the upcoming concerts. These guys are all in their 70's and they still manage to create something unique and they still create amazing and so moving music, and people all over the world are healing their childhood traumas because of these new songs. Songs about accepting transformation, the past and that we are all a product of then and now and that it won't stop us from having faith in ourselves and others. Acceptance is at the heart of both new songs. It's their story, but it's also our stories. Beautiful. Long post, but you asked for background 😁 🥰
Wow 🤩 Nobody could have described ABBA better! Thanks so much for your comment - I enjoyed reading it, and I feel exactly the same about them and their music - old and new ❤️ I wish they could read it, too!
Fantastic background information on ABBA and their comeback. I wish to offer one small clarification, if I may. The technology used to create the ABBAtars is "motion capture"; the company hired to create them is ILM (Industrial Light and Magic), owned now by Lucasfilm. However, Lucasfilm is no longer owned by George Lucas; he sold it to the Disney company in 2012.
@Carina Lindberg You were born in 1970, and that is the year that Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frida did their first recording together..........."Hej Gamle Man". Björn did the main vocals and the remaining 3 members, did backup vocals. After this, Björn and Benny realised that the girls' voices would be better as the "lead vocals".....and the rest, as they say........is h♪story.....♫♫♫♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♥
To hear those angelic voices again was pure magic.Made me think of the the past and future.I think ABBA did it on purpose.Outstanding.As I wipe my tears of joy. From Wiscosin USA.
ABBA have always been an iconic group and even after 40 years they still are. The magic is still there and their voices are totally phenomenal and chill together so well. I thought this song was beautiful and the lyrics amazing and it was a pleasure to listen to them. Thank you for a really great reaction
It is amazing that singers, all well over 70 years of age, can perform this well. This song, by the way, is all about the group ABBA It is written by Björn and composed by Benny (the male members of the group).
In case you don't know, they are all in their 70's now, the last minute of video featured abbatars (avatars) created by motion capture technology and depicts the members at the prime of their youth. The voices you hear, however, are all 70+ year-old voices.
Hi, I am so happy to see all the smiling recipients of this returning Abba miracle. You too are sharing the fascination I feel, which is stirring the heart and soul. I am an old Swedish Abba fan who , to my great satisfaction, have seen how the world has been aroused together though far apart, by these four musical wonders creating wonderment. A few key points: "I Still Have Faith In You" and "Don't Shut Me Down" are pre-releases from the new ABBA album "Voyage", which will be released in November. I grew up with them in the 80’s. Got my first LP with them, and played it over and over again in my boy room in a small village in Sweden. I get really emotional listening to this song. I now realize i’m getting old and that ABBA is to.
A good and honest review. At first I thought you were Ed Sheeran as you looked like and sounded like him, but then I immediately thought you sounded like Eminem. So now I think you are a combination of Ed and Eminem (Edinem?) A great review and a very interesting reviewer.

Until now two new ABBA songs have been known, both different in their themes and leading voices And both have the ABBA trademark on their solvency in musical composition and production
We know the great spirit of perfection that Björn and Benny impress on their creations, and both new creatures live up to their great successes of the 80s.
So the biggest mystery was to know the state of the voices of Agnetha and Frida and how they could react to the inevitable passing of the decades and their possible comparisons with previous classics.

And in that "look" there is an extraordinary job of caring for Björn and Benny to "take care" of their historical singers, partners and former partners. They gave them two wonderful songs, with beautiful melodies and deep lyrics, but they were also surrounded by the iconic hooks and the appeal to emotional nostalgia
"I still have faith in You" is an unpublished song in its conception in the history of ABBA
because it is self-referential about them as a group,
and it is also testimonial, because they tell us about their experiences in all this time
Musically it is a ballad with mystical and epic
A stately and majestic piano, and Frida's soft voice conducts and recreates ABBA's story with poignant beauty,
with Agnetha joining in some verses to emphasize
The sound of the drums arrives (a nod to the mega hit "Fernando") as if preparing the change of rhythm
And with a powerful guitar comes that first unpublished chorus, because this time all ABBA sings from the bowels of its history and with the strength of its testimony of life, of healing and togetherness.
And in the second chorus, even stronger, it becomes very clear that ABBA sings with the passion and courage that Björn's excellent lyrics stand out, it is like a triumphant song of their survival and their bond.
And it ends with a solo by Frida, flawless, with the flutes at the end
Also isn't a commercial song (more than 5 minutes) it's so emotional, with a fantastic vídeo of all greatest memories of pictures, official videos of 70s songs and Australia tour
ABBA really comes back at high level

Beautiful song. Do react after this to their second newly released song, Don't Shut Me Down
There's "The Joy Of ABBA" , among other documentaries.
Just wonderful
I grew up with them in the 80’s. Got my first LP with them, and played it over and over again in my boy room in a small village in Sweden. I get really emotional listening to this song. I now realize i’m getting old and that ABBA is to.
You are aware off that when they where over 30 when ABBA ended, that’s for 40 years ago. So today are the members 72-78 years old.
Actually the youngest member is 71 the oldest 75 plus.

Great reaction. Thanks for sharing.
amazing!!
A good and honest review. At first I thought you were Ed Sheeran as you looked like and sounded like him, but then I immediately thought you sounded like Eminem. So now I think you are a combination of Ed and Eminem (Edinem?) A great review and a very interesting reviewer.
G&T Reactions, a great Documentary of ABBA is, “The Winner Takes It All- The ABBA Story.”
It has 6 parts.
Hei, I will recommend to you
