I saw a parade of cars rolling by my neighborhood last Sunday. 3 McLarens, 2 Lambos, 1 Ferrari, 5 Porsches, 4 Corvettes, 3 AMG GTs, and a Viper like yours. It looked right at home with the others. I’m now looking on Cars and Bids. Sweet ride Randy.
Randy call a mobile hydraulic repair service. They go to fix lines at farms for tractors and they can stop by and rebuild those oil lines for a fraction of the cost. Just have then removed before they get there.
They make a tool for those constant/spring tension hose clamps that's on a cable that will allow you to get in the tight places. Mine are Astro Pneumatic 9409A, but I'm sure several different manufacturers make them.
Man, that one cover was really stuck on there lol, but they look really good after cleaning! This might be one you hang onto for a while once you're done with everything. It's a beautiful machine!
While it wasn't exactly inexpensive (what is these days), what you did was essentially routine maintenance for a car that age and by doing it you advoided the "castrophe" . I'd say you scored a great car with an intact drivetrain which is the main concern with any used car I suspect. Kudos also for just "gett'n er done" - the old "while you're in there" philosophy - brilliant!
8:00 There are hydraulic hose specialists who make custom hoses for equipment that can rebuild oil cooler hoses. We used to use such a business for obsolete hoses at the collision center I worked at 8 years ago.
Its nice to see that the engine is not tarnished, looks like it was taken care of pretty good. An with those low miles, someone is going to have a nice car in the future. Also, is the top in good shape so it doesnt leak in the rain?
there is a bleeder valve on the thermostat housing to bleed air from the cooling system. Once its drained, you open the bleeder and refill the system, and the bleeder lets you get a more complete fill. Youll have to squeeze upper radiator hose and close bleeder like you are bleeding brakes to ensure you get air out. I was only able to drain about 3 gallons, 1 was still behind the thermostat. Then you do a few drives up to 185 deg so the thermostat opens and top off the reservoir as needed. Way easier to bleed the air out compared to a regular car because of the bleed valve and the way the system is laid out.
I looked on Rockauto and some of the belts are not listed right. You need a 7 rib 1735 mm to 1740mm as your length. Also your old belt says 1740 on it and the new one says 2000 mm or so.
30:48 3D printing can work miracles here. If you or someone you know has a 3D printer, you should search for a cad file for the plug wire looms. I would be willing to bet _someone_ out there has made them before.
A correction, the V10 was developed with the help of Lamborghini not Ferrari since Chrysler owned Lamborghini during the time when the Viper was developed.
Wow, Rock Auto must really be slipping. I've been working on my own cars for over 15 years, and Rock Auto has always been the first place I look to for parts. They are headquartered in WI, where I live. The parts are name brand and usually cost less with WI sales tax and shipping than from any out of state place with free shipping. I've never gotten a part from them that didn't fit my car properly. I've also never had a part from them that has failed. I also like the magnets they ship in the orders. They will also assist you with installation instructions if you have trouble getting something installed. Finding parts numbers on the website is easier or just as easy as finding a part number elsewhere.
I've had better luck buying from Summit Racing to get parts from rather than Rock Auto. Prices have been better for the parts worth buying (Summit doesn't carry as many of the super cheap, questionable quality parts.) Summit even carries parts for all cars, not just hotrods. I was able to get a factory washer hose for a Chrysler Town & Country cheaper than at Rock Auto
Hey Randy, I just got done watching your viper content. I’m hoping that you’re planning on keeping the Viper for a while and keeping it on the channel because I would like to. I would like to see you have fun with it for a while before you decide to get rid of it but of course it’s your car and you can do whatever you want with it but myself I would love to see you keep it for a few months and then maybe get rid of it and buy something else but will you have it I hope you have fun with it. I can’t wait to watch your next video. Bonnet so, but anyhow, I hope you have a good rest of the day and I can’t wait to see your next video. Whatever you have planned I’ll talk to you later buddy have a good day.
Worm clamps might be easier but they are inferior. Spring clamps hold much more consistent tension through temperature changes etc. worm clamps worked their way loose or are too tight
Worm clamps do not adjust circumference with expansion and contraction... it's science. The automotive engineers and their employers don't like cars being returned with leaks from clamps that aren't engineered to cope with heat cycles.
I've never seen a sprung clamp fail in all my lived experience but the battle of personal anecdotes is vacuous. They changed from worm clamps to the sprung clamps to have fewer failures not to be cheap on clamps. For all the worm clamps a nice pair of hose clamp pliers can be purchased making the job easier. Bill Nye might make a video on why automotive clamps moved from worm to sprung clamps for you ask nicely perhaps your can collaborate and educate the public. They might notice worm clamps used on their vehicles and have them changed before they fail.
The Viper parts houses make improved oil cooler and power steering lines that will never leak again. Only issue is they're over $300 a set-Viper tax lol.
Keep the old belts. If is dealer serviced they are different quality than what you get from ahops. My old belt was in better shape than the new one. I kept the old one in the trunk
These actually made 510 hp,they talked about this in 06-07 lots of manufacturers were adding higher numbers and government caught them..Dodge got in trouble for low balling the power numbers lol... 8.3 Liter...505 Cubic Inch...510 hp.. The engine is a Chrysler Corporation Dodge,Plymouth (mopar) 360 small block with 2 added cylinders... Dodge trucks from 1994-2003 had the cast iron version and more torque than diesels of the era in the 90's...Not to be confused with the exact Viper engine in your car in the 2004-2006 Dodge RAM SRT-10 trucks.. Chrysler owned Lamborghini in the late 80's early 1990's and got Lamborghini's help to help them make the Chrysler LA 360 with 2 added cylinders into Aluminum.. They only helped with making the block aluminum,it is a 1967 based engine! The V-10 is durable and reliable, its a LA based aka 273,318,the hot and mighty 340 and 360...They used a 360 back in the late 80's.All versions of the V-10 8.0,8.3 and 8.4 liter versions are all based off of the 360 V8. Just to let people know as its something I know about..Mopar restorer, collector etc...I owned a Viper and RAM SRT 10 truck in the late 90's (Viper GTS) and truck until 2013.Wife had a Viper from 2012-2016...(I am looking for a 2006 Dodge RAM SRT10 quad cab Night Runner! with very low miles aka under 5000 if possible, but will consider others under 20k.
The engine was co-designed with Lamborghini when Chrysler owned them briefly and not Ferrari. This is a great series. Keep up the great work. th-cam.com/video/FF1jIQZq1xg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gewEnmWSPMkPcyld&t=643 Additionally, consider investing in a wobble socket set if you decide to keep the car. It makes the removal of your valve covers a whole heck of a lot easier.
It is possible to replace just the flexible hose sections of oil and transmission cooler lines. The transmission & oil cooler rated hose you're looking for is SAE J1019. Gates and Continental make this spec hose along with several others. The J1019 spec is 302°F and 217psi. Dremel through the crimp collars and remove em then remove the skeevy rubber hose. I replace the crimp collars with German fuel injection clamps. Constant tension spring band clamps will work too if you get the correct size.
That's a car you restore and put away to only come out on dodge viper day which is once a year, use your unique set of skills and get it fixed good luck my friend 🗽
If you can't find the oil cooler lines, you can cut the hy-crimp off and just replace the hose with some bulk transmission/power steering hose and clamp it back to the aluminum fittings.
I’ve never liked rock auto, it is always hit or miss and most of the time if you order something like upper and lower ball joints for both side of a vehicle, you’ll get parts from multiple manufacturers instead of matching ones. Don’t like playing mix and match with parts….
co designed with Ferrari? You on drugs? The first v10 Chrysler hade a little help from Lamborghini ( Chrysler owned them in the 90’s) Viper is cool as hell though
When you buy a car like this, that needs a "little TLC", it is much more satisfying to drive, especially when YOU do the work and not a shop!

We do that for our blown hydraulic lines on our tow trucks at work, but we have a shop that makes the custom hoses like 10min away
Just don't try to drive over the mountains in snow. Apparently 3 foot wide tires aren't good in snow! Who would've thought?
They make a tool for those constant/spring tension hose clamps that's on a cable that will allow you to get in the tight places. Mine are Astro Pneumatic 9409A, but I'm sure several different manufacturers make them.
Awesome thank you!
This Viper needed you.
Al Bundy: "I'll be... VIPERMAN!"
Al Bundy: "Do you come with the car?"
Awesome
This car is nice, it's beautiful! Worth all the fixes
Yeah, all those are pretty common issues for 20 year-old Vipers. He got it for a good price so even with a few grand in repairs it's a deal.
Hay Randy, really loving the Viper content, it really is quite a car. Keep up with the fantastic videos!
Thank you.
The viper is in good hands Randy. I know you’ll fix her up right. And she’s so beautiful! Definitely look forward to more viper content
I like the vioer. Looking forward to a drive along when all the work gets done.
Oh yeah you squeezed it nice and good
Man, that one cover was really stuck on there lol, but they look really good after cleaning! This might be one you hang onto for a while once you're done with everything. It's a beautiful machine!
I have been getting wrong parts from Rockauto as well. The factory hose clamps are better, than the worm clams.
The Viper is a nice car
While it wasn't exactly inexpensive (what is these days), what you did was essentially routine maintenance for a car that age and by doing it you advoided the "castrophe" . I am looking forward to this build. Those were some kind words, and i have a completely different perspective of Chad. Keep up the good work

Using a 90* pick is my go to for hose removal, ratcheting hose clamp pliers are amazing too
Good job Randy. It's coming along nicely.
Lovin that viper, Randy. My dad and 4 year old son religiously watch your channel daily. Keep wrenching
Keep the viper bad ass car
I have the same magnetic light that you have. Very convenient, and you can adjust the brightness. 🤗🤗🤗
You better keep this one Randy!!!! Especially with all the work your doing.
Great job. I really like watching when you are turning wrenches.
Hello Randy. Fixing the 2005 Dodge Viper. Replacing the head gaskets and replacin the upper and lower radiator hoses.
Napa can make the high pressure hoses that are leaking that your needing to replace and can't find
The Viper parts houses also make an improved design that won't leak, but I think they're about $300 a pair.
I looked on Rockauto and some of the belts are not listed right. You need a 7 rib 1735 mm to 1740mm as your length. Also your old belt says 1740 on it and the new one says 2000 mm or so.
Bingo! I've been through 3 belts with them before getting the correct one.
Yea, a fixed a car video I love these ones.I clicked real quick

Thank you for that.
Hey Randy have you ever considered getting a head-mounted gopro setup for working on stuff?
Wow, Rock Auto must really be slipping. I've been working on my own cars for over 15 years, and Rock Auto has always been the first place I look to for parts. Good job Randy ! 😀
Randy have you thought about getting one of those head cam thingy
Great video Randy! Thanks for uploading. Have you thought about mounting your camera to a head strap so you can then work on the cars with both hands?
Hey Randy, I just got done watching your viper content. I’m hoping that you’re planning on keeping the Viper for a while and keeping it on the channel because I would like to. Take those oil cooler hoses to any hose shop, or oreillys sometimes still makes hoses. 🎉
Worm clamps might be easier but they are inferior. Spring clamps hold much more consistent tension through temperature changes etc. worm clamps worked their way loose or are too tight
I have never, ever in all my years seen a worm clamp "work itself loose".
Worm clamps do not adjust circumference with expansion and contraction... it's science. The automotive engineers and their employers don't like cars being returned with leaks from clamps that aren't engineered to cope with heat cycles.
Again Bill Nye never ever have I had a worm clamp leak… Ever…
I've never seen a sprung clamp fail in all my lived experience but the battle of personal anecdotes is vacuous. You'll figure it out like you always do, Randy.
The Viper parts houses make improved oil cooler and power steering lines that will never leak again. Only issue is they're over $300 a set-Viper tax lol.
Good morning Randy! The VIPER is getting better with every video.
try viper parts depot for the spark plug wire sepperators about 8 dollars each
Rockauto has a variety of spark plug wire retainer/clips, but pretty sure you can find them elsewhere.
Good video 😀
Looking good man
You neee to hire a videgrapher..and Mike is the perfect candidate..now that your Chanel is so big..
Greetings.
Keep the old belts. If is dealer serviced they are different quality than what you get from ahops. My old belt was in better shape than the new one. I kept the old one in the trunk
Oil cooler lines can be remade by hydraulic hose shop
A ratchet and extender in a wobble drive would help to
Wow, that engine is SPOTLESS inside!
It just really all depends but I’m sure you can get it fixed! You’re very good at fixing this stuff! Keep it up randy we love to see it!
It's painful to watch a person think they got a great deal and they surely didn't 😂😂 he's going to be lucky with 46,000 miles to get his money back.
keep that viper untill the end of times! Those will will skyrocket in value.
Pull out "That's what she said"
The "505" on the air intake isnt the horsepower, its actually referring to the cubic inchs of the motor.
Randy, where did you buy the new water pump?
Good luck trying to return something at Rock Auto.
Way to handle that cocktail Randy 😅
Spell check 😮
These actually made 510 hp,they talked about this in 06-07 lots of manufacturers were adding higher numbers and government caught them..Dodge got in trouble for low balling the power numbers lol...

U need to change the starter because the oils will fry the stater
Good Trusty Rock Auto Next To Summit Racing Best Places For Replacement Exotic Car Part's Just Like Ur Viper Randy .
Randy, Contact a Hydraulic repair shop and they will probably be able to fix those oil lines.
sell the viper for that GTR PLEASE
Just a joke for you Randy but at 13:41 that's what she said. Lol
Happy Saturday Randy
Happy Saturday
Saturday 💪💪
Great video and work on this viper😎🔥
Was that your grandfathers scooter I saw when you threw out the weak hose?
If this car makes you happy when you drive it.....keep it. If you have to worry about it all the time...sell it.
@13:41 That's what she said too lol.
The engine was co-designed with Lamborghini when Chrysler owned them briefly and not Ferrari.

11:16 wow I can’t believe that WrongAuto I mean RockAuto sent you the wrong part.
I wonder if there is an Electric Water pump to fit that.
Have you bled those brakes yet
do water pump
Hi Randy
Since you don't sell at retail, why bother with all the maintenance items? Or maybe you plan to keep the Viper for 2-3 years?
It is possible to replace just the flexible hose sections of oil and transmission cooler lines.

Wow, again, Rockauto sent you the wrong parts. So far, I have never had them send me the wrong parts. I have used them for a long, long time.
That's a car you restore and put away to only come out on dodge viper day which is once a year, use your unique set of skills and get it fixed good luck my friend 🗽
No, that's a car made to drive! Not a garage/trailer princess...
Rockauto is sending incorrect parts for many cars lately not sure why
If you can't find the oil cooler lines, you can cut the hy-crimp off and just replace the hose with some bulk transmission/power steering hose and clamp it back to the aluminum fittings.

Dude, invest in a tripod for your camera, please
You need to get a table so you don’t have all of your stuff on the floor. Walmart $15 for a white plastic table.
Or a sturdy roller cart
You sell that your crazy.
Loktyte.
They just sent me incorrect parking brake shoe that didnt fit i had to return it
Good Morning Randy 0:25
that is why i stop getting parts from ROCK AUTO they always F>>>K up sorry
Good morning randy
Too bad Dodge sold out in 2014.
co designed with Ferrari? You on drugs?
The first v10 Chrysler hade a little help from Lamborghini ( Chrysler owned them in the 90’s)
Viper is cool as hell though
Jeeez. Lots of talking!!
