Are you 100% sure that's the correct etymology of the sheng use of "Sonko"? Sounds far-fetched to be honest. I've seen another explanation by a language researcher saying it's derived from 'mzungu'

Most from Britain itself don't speak English with this much fullness and richness and drama. Am here as a Welsh girl to learn about Kenya, since my mother was raised in Mombasa...though as she was there in the 1970s & 80s, one imagines the slang back then was totally different to now, and she wouldn't understand a word of Sheng! (sadly she never learned fluent Kiswahili, only a strange pidgin half-English version)
