Agreed, very underrated guitar player and song writer. Their first two albums (Cheshire Cat & Dude Ranch) had some very fast and complex guitar work from him.

Everytime i listen to the songs on Enema it gives me chills. I'll always love that album. Would be aweosme if you ever do a video on how to record clean and distorted guitars on the same song. Another great job my brother
Thanks , brother. Definitely a fun song to learn and record. As far as the clean and dirty parts, remember these covers are pre-recorded, so all I do is record the clean tracks separately. I normally use the clean amps that come in Logic Pro X since they sound pretty good.

Thanks, man. Tom's yellow Strat was definitely an inspiration for this build. I spec'd the guitar with an HSS mint green pick guard (still have it) but wanted to simplify it a bit this way for now.

He might not have been the tightest guitar player in the genre but he definitely knew how to create memorable riffs that still hold. Very underrated if you ask me.
From growing up listening to descendants, screeching weasel, nofx, etc. heavy influences, but can’t take away the fact that he came up with some killer riffs of his own!

The intro riff is a little challenging but not too bad. I think it’s probably hard to sing and play it which is why he might struggle with it live I guess.

In order to do covers like this, do I have to obtain permission from the artist? I can tell you professionally record yourself over the original recording with is awesome, but if I started doing this could I get in trouble legally without permission? Do you only cover songs that you have purchased? Or do you just use TH-cam to mp3 to get the master song into your DAW then record over the original song? I really want to start making high quality covers like this, I’m just curious about the legal way to do so is all. Thanks for your time and awesome playing!
Thanks, Blake. All of the songs I cover, I buy the MP3's via iTunes. As far as I know, you don't need permission to do this, but in most cases you can't monetize videos due to legalities, and any royalties/views/stats go to the artist/label as per TH-cam policies. I go over how I record these covers in one of my videos, you should check it out.
