I was lost without this tear-down! I lost my calibration when my detent popped out and I had NO IDEA what that thing was until I searched for this video. I had already purchased a new Encore in the time that it took. So now I'm back with my repair and saved $!! Keep making them! BTW; is this the only video that tells me the detent even exists?
Wow, I am impressed that a manufacturer hosts a video on how to fully disassemble their product. There's not even a plethora of disclaimers at the beginning warning dumb people of the risks. Thank you Baratza!!!
I have done a lot of work on my Encore during my time of ownership. I currently have no need to watch this video... yet I did and I feel very relaxed right now. Thanks!
To see a company put out tutorials on disassembly and cleaning their products is amazing in this day and age. You've earned a customer for life. AND the screws used are grat quality. Thought the T screws would be shreaded due to the angle my screwdriver had to be. Not a bit. Still able to tighten at an angle and no damage to the head 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
You forgot to show how to remove the conical burr from the shaft! This is important, because most people don't even understand the concept of "Left Handed Threads". And I, for one, am replacing my burrs! Glad I watched other vids. But overall, a very informative video.
Removing the case is quite a bit more difficult than it seems in the video. I was able to get it off, but not without the flathead chewing through the plastic of the casing. Did I do something wrong?
I was able to insert a Wilton frosting straight spatula under the case edge and feel my way underneath until I hit the tab, and then angle the middle of the spatula towards the tab and carefully "work it" to get it to pass over the top of the tab. Once the tab it released, stick something flat yet rigid in place to keep the tab from snapping back while you work the other tabs free. There may be a very very mild "micro stress blemish" as a result, but unnoticeable unless you're really trying to look for it.
hi there- thank you for doing this! you mention seeing your full guide in the video.... it used to be easily findable via a search, but i can no longer find it. i probably have a copy of the pdf somewhere, it would be awesome if you could put a link to where this PDF is hosted into the description of this video! another customer was asking below as well...
Using my Fluke75 multimeter, my voltage reading from the red/black wires (off the circuit board) that powers the motor reads 125 V (open) when the knob is turned to the ON position, and then slowly drains to 1V when the knob it turned to the OFF position. When setup to take an amperage reading, it is 0 A in the OFF position and 0.13 A in the ON position. I do not recommend hooking this up to a voltage source, but rather a current source for testing (unless you want to blow the motor).
Would it be possible to convert a stock Encore into an ESP? It seems like the only differing components are the inner coneburr+driveshaft assembly, outer ring burr assembly, and the metal grind size adjustment ring.
Thanks so much for reaching out and expressing your interest in converting your Encore to the Encore ESP. There are a number of parts that need replacing to convert and Encore to an ESP and special equipment is needed for proper calibration. Due to the complexity of the conversion, we do not have any plans to offer the ESP parts for sale. Please let us know if you have any future questions!
was it? I took it apart and put back together and it still stalls. Thankfully, a few good smacks to the side of the rebuilt grinder starts it up again lol
@@michellepauling5257 it wasn't unfortunately 😅 I think it's a short in the safety switch to prevent you from turning the grinder on without the top part on. Still need to check and see if that IS the issue. I bought a replacement grinder ring part that comes out as a couple of tabs were broken and messing up the grind consistency. But I also got a new grinder too so no pressure to fix the old one to give as a hammy down to family/friend.
Some sections went by WAY too fast. Slow down just a tiny bit. I know I can slow it down via youtube but I shouldn't have to. Also, the constant switching of angles makes it impossible to track movements. It's as if I was watching a James Bond film.
Should we post more videos like this? Let us know in the comments below!

Yes please
Yes. A very relaxing video too!

I’ve had the same experience!
Nothing wrong with some hesitation marks
Use a plastic pry tool next time. Best $3 you can spend at harbor freight or elsewhere.

This is why I love Baratza
Great video! Thanks for the tutorial.
A super helpful video. Thanks for posting these instructions.
Great tutorial. Enjoyed watching thanks.
Wonderful! The only issue I can see is that a "full guide" is referred to a couple of times in the video, but there is no link given to said guide.
Yes! I need this full guide. I can't seem to reconnect my wires properly.
How do I install the shims ?

Is that a DC motor? If so will you tell me what the required voltage is? I think this might be the answer to a powered grinder in my off-grid cabin..

what extension bit holder is that on your driver?
Does this guide also applies to the Virtuoso+?
Yes! You'll get a lot of the same steps once you get the case removed.
Where can I find a full guide for more details on grinder calibration? I messed up my calibration settings. Please help
Oh no! Hmm, lets get you connected with out support team. Just in case it could be a simple fix! www.baratza.com/en-us/support-by-country
This was really useful when some grounds got clogged in the machine and I couldn't get it just with a vacuum or tooth pick.

Just want I needed to fix my grinder that is stalling. I'm sure the issue will be obvious once apart.

I would love to see a GEARBOX REBUILD for MaestroPlus

Why did you allow ads on this video? Unwatchable.
If you get ads on TH-cam, it is because you don't pay to block them. No content creator has any say in whether or not a watcher gets ads.
1 only got 1 ad? for a commercial hopper lol not relevant
@@michellepauling5257 Lucky, you got a commercial hopper ad? Those are the best lol.
