Their friendship was so good, and I teared up at the end of the movie. The train scene really made me have it set in stone of some kind of relationship.

Honestly, although I think the plot lacked conflict, the animation, the character design and the development and chemistry of Luca and Alberto's "friendship" was 100% worth it and I would see it again.
I've seen the movie and there is one lesson I think Disney and Pixar got perfectly on point with: "Not everybody will accept Luca, but some will. And Luca can find the right ones".
Even if they're just friends, I am glad they're able to be so touchy with each other without it being a big deal. Don't get me wrong, the queer vibes were off the charts from the beginning, but I'm just glad it isn't specifically because they're okay with hugging each other and being vaguely affectionate. I guess I'm still stuck on how stupid it was when preteens and teenage boys would act like patting their friend on the back was a bad thing because it meant they were gay. Here, they could be gay, but it's because of the chemistry they've built up, the trust they have in each other, the implications with the train scene and "you got me off the island" and the scene where the granny mentioned they would never be accepted by some people but they found the ones who would accept them. There were a ton of better explanations for why the queer community identified with them so quickly than the fact that they hugged a few times.
That is the point of the movie. They don't need to be gay to be affectionate with each other. I grow up with that bullshit, where two boys couldn't show any affection, because that would be 'gay'.

OMG I still can't stop coming back to this video, even a year later.😭 This is honestly my favorite ship of all time, right up there with WALL-E and EVE from WALL-E and Luz and Amity from The Owl House. It's just so sweet, adorable, and wholesome. To me, all of Luca and Alberto's scenes felt FAR more romantic and meaningful than the vast majority of canonical romances I've seen. Even though Luca has a pretty simple plot compared to most other Pixar movies, it honestly means more to me than the majority of them combined. It's such a beautiful story about friendship, love, and acceptance that never gets old (at least in my eyes). Its themes are so relatable and hit SO close to home for me. This film makes me feel seen in a way that no other movie ever has. By the way, this is honestly my absolute favorite video from you!!! It's so well edited and captures the emotion of the original film perfectly! All the wholesome Luberto videos I've found on TH-cam make my day. Luca and Alberto are so cute together, my heart lights up like a Christmas tree whenever I see them, just hanging out and being adorable lol. I feel like this song really correlates to Alberto throughout the movie. Not having a mom, and abandoned by his dad, I bet he felt pretty lonely and unwanted. Literally no one wanted him, not even the humans who he so learned to love. Then Luca comes around. He finally has someone to teach all the fun things he's had to keep buried for months. He has someone to have fun with, and even take care of, now that he wasn't the one who needed the care. He wanted to impress Luca (and also had a crush on him) which meant that all Alberto wanted was to be loved. He tried so hard to be there for Luca.

I absolutely love Alberto and Luca; I could NEVER get the same kind of bond they had from anyone else. It was way more tear jerking and absolutely sweet, and I loved the adorable moments they shared throughout their journey. The two were able to grow beacuse of the other and found so much happiness together, I mean seriously I just can't think of their jealousy, touchy-feely, Connection, looking out for each other, the way Alberto shared his past with Luca but no one else, that moment Luca saved Alberto, the moment Alberto got beat up, there was way too many more lol. I absolutely adored the dirty jokes in the movie too; it makes me sad no one seemed to notice that when Alberto and Luca had that gigantic fight before showing the true sea monster form, Luca actually did that handshake that Alberto taught him in the beginning beacuse of how pissed off he was at the moment with Giulia, which was a serious crossing the line moment for the two beacuse it was personally "their thing" not "Giulia's thing" (Messed up her name but fixed with an edit)

I think it was meant to be like that. It was a character-driven story, coming of-age story. Conflict would be secondary in most of these cases.

I absolutely love Alberto and Luca; I could NEVER get the same kind of bond they had from anyone else. It was way more tear jerking and absolutely sweet, and I loved the adorable moments they shared throughout their journey. The two were able to grow beacuse of the other and found so much happiness together, I mean seriously I just can't think of their jealousy, touchy-feely, Connection, looking out for each other, the way Alberto shared his past with Luca but no one else, that moment Luca saved Alberto, the moment Alberto got beat up, there was way too many more lol. I absolutely adored the dirty jokes in the movie too; it makes me sad no one seemed to notice that when Alberto and Luca had that gigantic fight before showing the true sea monster form, Luca actually did that handshake that Alberto taught him in the beginning beacuse of how pissed off he was at the moment with Giulia, which was a serious crossing the line moment for the two beacuse it was personally "their thing" not "Giulia's thing"
