Hey Keith from Angola 🇦🇴 good morning to you, as an Indian 🇮🇳. I am fan of Kenworth and Peterbilt also Volvo VNL of North America 🇺🇸 and this truck is a badass of white colour.
I now drive a auto shift truck and I can drive a manual also I have nothing to prove to anybody. If you drive on road 100% auto is the way to go I even use the auto to get up a snowy mountain road this past winter use the hold a gear feature and pulled right up the mountain
Let them know that they can shift in Manual by holding the button on the side. It’s good for mountains grades or if you don’t want the truck to keep going up and down in the gears during slow traffic.
Beautiful truck but Im kind of old school. They are in my opinion ruining trucking with DEF/DPF engines and auto shift. I drive a Freightliner with a DD15 and 12SPD auto and im not complaining as i had a major shoulder injury on the shifter arm but if my arm wasnt all screwed and nailed back together id prefer a manual. I started learning on my buddys 86 W900 425 CAT and 15 double overdrive when trucks were trucks. Still love my trucking no matter what i drive.

Just found this video. When did Pete start manufacturing the 389 with an 18-speed automatic… what year? Also, when did they start manufacturing them with the control on the column… what year? This would be a dream to drive. Volvo and Freightliner have had automatics for decades but they’re 12-speeds. A 12-speed automatic is a joke! Again, this would be a dream to drive. Damn! I wish my company had autos. I only fuel Costco’s in and around the Sacramento area. Stop and go traffic, local as can possibly be. Roseville, Elk Grove, Sacramento, Woodland, Rancho Cordova, and Folsom. 5 loads a day, 11-14/hrs a day. GREAT company! I love this job, but some trucks shift like CRAP!Makes the day harder. Isolates the batteries from every connection in the truck. Very useful if the truck will be sitting for more than a week. That way you do not come back to dead batteries.
