I was initially getting this as part of my modern recreation of what my cousin and I had in our collections. Seeing this makes me remember those days but he's also cool and unique enough that I'd pick him up regardless. This is THE Quick Kick look for me!
I love the POC version, brother! But it’s good to have the retro version. I do remember this version of quick kick was one of my favorites to play with as a kid. I am hoping they make an updated version like POC. Your thought about the throwing star affect I agree with, and they should’ve given him some loose, throwing stars to hold. As always Yo Joe!!

That second head with the eyes half rolled back and the weird duckface grunting expression is going to find its way into some really really questionable photography. It’s going to be wonderful.
Yeah, I agree, this figure should've been retro carded and they should've released a more 'properly dressed' version with the classified packaging. But logic doesn't always apply to this line, remember we got the Crimson Twins in individual releases while we get two-packs of seperate characters like Roadblock with Tripwire... They just make these up as they go along, there doesn't seem to be any overall plan or strategy.
As an U.S. ARMY veteran and action figures collector im very happy with the job Hasbro have done for so many years and now bringing G.I. Joe back to life with incredible details on the Classified Series. I wish they come with some Tanks and vehicles like choppers, Jets and more. Also would be nice if they make some new 12 inch action figures. They need to add SGT Savage to the Classified Series.
This is a cool fig with a great sculpt and a lot of nice detail, but I agree about needing an update. This old-school look made it an easy pass for me.
I pre-ordered the figure. I loved the cartoon interaction between him, Bazooka, and Alpine. I would have liked the POC version with red instead of the yellow accents. Might have to do a little customization on him

QK was definitely one of my favorites as a kid, and I’ll get him once Alpine comes out. However, I think I would really prefer a new, upgraded - i.e. practical- version of him. Maybe we will get that someday. Hasbro was probably in a catch 22 with him and decided less people would complain if he more closely resembled the original figure.
Key and Sword is Intelligence, homie. Larry Hama wrote the file card, so I'm not sure if the 'racial' part of it is anything more than a fact of his own childhood. I would bet PoC Quick Kick is something we'll see down the line. He's popular from the cartoon perspective. Personally, I'm with Larry on QK. He's good, but he ain't no Storm Shadow. Despite that, he's number one on the list for this batch of Joes.

I am good with the version they released. It's what I wanted, but I get that they cod have done a retro carded version and standard Classified version. One of the things I find interesting is that backpack looks a lot like Jinx's o-ring back pack. It makes me wonder if they will release a retro Jinx with full sleeves and a version of this backpack?
I bet the retro jinx comes with that some backpack and swords ……now that the retro cardbacks are a mainline release and every character is probably going to get a classified release and then a retro release moving forward you can tell what there setting up ……..retro quick kick will have stright black paints and other small differences
I'm not into this retro look but the figure looks fun. The torso sculpt looks very nice, hope we get some reuse out of it (is it new?). But yeah, this guy doesn't exactly fit in with my future-war Classifieds. Same goes with figures like Shipwreck. If I can score him on sale I'll swap the legs and find a vala vest to fit.

See I don’t want anything but the OG style versions so I’m ecstatic for the whole wave! They really nailed it. I personally think they should all come on cardbacks I see no reason for the boxes at all, they can put all the gear in the card back just like they did in the 80s, but that’s what I’m into Classified for, nostalgia 110% I didn’t even start buying Classified until after that first futuristic version wave bcuz I wasn’t interested in the least, there have been umpteen versions of GI Joe since the OG DIC cartoons, comics and toys and the only one that was decent was Resolute, but again, I wouldn’t want toys of anything but the OG versions with modern updates like they have been doing since they realized that’s what we wanted and I couldn’t be happier with this line. I think it’s hands down without question thee best of any of the 6”-7” fig lines for the money especially.
My 25th version has 2 left feet. It was hard to find and never showed up in my area so I bought one second hand and the dude didn't tell me that it was messed up.

I did nt have a second thought, just picked him up now, he s 10x that... ; I m thinking about it.... [not happening] like you, I d want something more mature, naked feet? not today I d want him with at least scandals, running shoes, or light boots I can live pretty good with the rest, but a removable coat, or jacket would have improved him nicely this is clearly a retro version, for those that want him exactly un changed I pass I m going for an 82 - 83 team + Nunchuk, he s green, I like my team to be 80% green it s ok for Doc, Torpedo, Spirit, Gung ho, and other specialists, but only 20% I never used him much in the 80s, in retrospect, I had waaay too much to have fun and at that price... and the scale 6' needs a lot of space civilians before I have 4 dios, and all figs stay stored in their boxes, I live in a small place 'gotta catch em all' just does nt work in my conditions, I had to figure a system packed standing figs on shelves is not my idea of fun with these expensive bibelots - articulated statues I rotate figs every week or so on my scenes, always keeping them fresh and funny I was supposed to stop at 60, and now I m at 70... so since I m not over, I ll reach a 100 for sure this system - structure allows me to reach my goals with this place looking good for guests, it s art nouveau deco but... having just fighters is boring, 1 vs 1 gets dull fast, you need witnesses, victims, hostages, undercover agents I bought agent Woo legends as CIA Joe informant for Cobra activity globally, and he can be captured, or part of the operation I got Talos human form, and gave him a wrestling microphone to make newsman reporting on action events I have sw Carl Weathers with the wrestling champion belt [Apollo] with a f... machine gun acting as criminal boss on my urban dio, D and all that is more fun than Quick kick and just more agents again and again... I picked him up since he's a classic character, even though he's never been a favorite of mine. I'm happy with the vintage look. I'm not a fan of very many of the POC figures, especially that version of Quick Kick. His vintage look makes no since for combat, but it's unique and the POC version makes him look like every other martial arts figure. The copyright info is oddly placed. If they would have put it towards the back half of the legs it wouldn't be as visible in most positions. I'll be removing it when I get mine.
Yeah, the Retro Eel is a big middle finger. If they had just thrown in the combo laser rifle/spear gun from the ARAH figure, it would be awesome. And the Snow Serpent comes with Dusty's FAMAS? Where is the AK-47? They've already made it. They love to reuse the same weapons over and over. The original snowshoes would have been nice too.

This guy wouldn’t survive Arctic conditions bare foot and shirtless. I know mind over matter in the martial arts. But come on. The leopard seals attacking like panthers in the cartoon is funny too. Does the backpack fit on snug? I’m still looking forward to the figure.
100% agree he should've been on the retro card with a modern Classified interpretation. I'd buy both. As far as I'm concerned, the same should've been done with Shipwreck.

I wish the nunchucks had a bendable chain for posing. Disappointed that he doesn’t have a hand for the throwing star. Big miss. As far as the retro line goes…per what Lenny explained in the latest AiC podcast, unless something is ACTUALLY gonna be an ARAH retro look, then I just don’t think it’s needed until you can do it. 🤷♂️ But I also don’t think that every character that is made in Classified Series needs to have a retro release because the mainline one is close enough minus perhaps a weapon or a secondary. As far as Quick Kick figure goes, looks great I think, I wish one of the alt heads would have just been a smiling head bc he definitely was a happy guy in the cartoon and the two heads he comes with don’t seem that different to me.
Sure he's a classic inspired release, but how about something different. You hit the nail on the head, Bobby. Should have saved this look for a retro. They could have given him a vest with some webbing at least just to spice things up and that would make sense for his backpack, which apparently is just secured magically by his sash. As for the Shuriken piece, thats going straight into the spare parts bin.

I was thinking, in my internal monologue, "I hope he comes with an interchangeable head so he's not yelling all the time; he can relax." AND NOW HE HAS TWO HEADS, AND NEITHER IS YELLING?!! WTF?! Does Hasbro know they are creating ACTION figures, and each action figure has a different personality that might emote in different ways?
Yeah they should have done an update on him. Quick Kick was always the dumbest Joe IMO. Just some shirtless barefoot martial artist running around while everyone is shooting at each other.
I was never a fan of Quick Kick. I recall the first time I saw him as a child in the animated series and the dude was in an Arctic environment without any winter clothing which didn't make any sense to me even as a kid. Do agree with you this design should have been made for the retro line and what we should have gotten was a more updated version of him wearing shoes and clothing. This is a super easy pass for me and I would wait till he is being sold at discounted prices since i'm just not into this character. Even if he becomes hard to find I won't have any regrets since it's a silly character
I like him as is. I do find it a little weird how low his pants ride on his hips though. He's got nice accessories. Couldn't care less about the Fuggee bar. I really liked the ARAH figure as a kid, but couldn't stand his obnoxious character in the toon.
I definitely would have rather had the POC Quick Kick, or any other variation that put him in something closer to combat gear. Even as a kid, I never cared for the shirtless barefoot look.

Maybe the retro will come with his longer mullet look and a younger face sculpt, with an optional screaming face and more hands.

As far as Quick Kick figure goes, looks great I think, I wish one of the alt heads would have just been a smiling head bc he definitely was a happy guy in the cartoon and the two heads he comes with don’t seem that different to me.
The alt portrait is clearly his version of Blue Steel. Haha

Sure he's a classic inspired release, but how about something different. You hit the nail on the head, Bobby. Should have saved this look for a retro. They could have given him a vest with some webbing at least just to spice things up and that would make sense for his backpack, which apparently is just secured magically by his sash. As for the Shuriken piece, thats going straight into the spare parts bin.

I was thinking, in my internal monologue, "I hope he comes with an interchangeable head so he's not yelling all the time; he can relax." AND NOW HE HAS TWO HEADS, AND NEITHER IS YELLING?!! WTF?! Does Hasbro know they are creating ACTION figures, and each action figure has a different personality that might emote in different ways?

It's based on his first appearance in the Sunbow cartoon where he shows up in the polar ice caps and fights Storm Shadow and helps Bazooka and Alpine.
Yeah they should have done an update on him. Quick Kick was always the dumbest Joe IMO. Just some shirtless barefoot martial artist running around while everyone is shooting at each other.
I was never a fan of Quick Kick. I recall the first time I saw him as a child in the animated series and the dude was in an Arctic environment without any winter clothing which didn't make any sense to me even as a kid. Do agree with you this design should have been made for the retro line and what we should have gotten was a more updated version of him wearing shoes and clothing. This is a super easy pass for me and I would wait till he is being sold at discounted prices since i'm just not into this character. Even if he becomes hard to find I won't have any regrets since it's a silly character
I like him as is. I do find it a little weird how low his pants ride on his hips though. He's got nice accessories. Couldn't care less about the Fuggee bar. I really liked the ARAH figure as a kid, but couldn't stand his obnoxious character in the toon.
His toros looks stretched out with small legs. Looks off to me.
I definitely would have rather had the POC Quick Kick, or any other variation that put him in something closer to combat gear. Even as a kid, I never cared for the shirtless barefoot look.
