Very nice! Just a question, how can you configure manning's n values for the surfaces of these obstructions (wall, house, etc.) you are creating with this methodogy? Because I would think that in your example HEC RAS assumes it is the same manning as the river bed.
Hi, I am working on GLOF. Can you please let me know how to modify the terrain to represent it as a glacial lake under 2D flow area unit given the lake area and volume only?
Hei, I am not sure we can model in HEC-RAS a GLOF in 2D. I would estimate by other methods the hydrogaph in the lake after the outburst and I would set this as bc in hec-ras.
It is better to use try & error method with different scenarios, otherwise you can just use mathematical equations to obtain the necessary culvert diameter (or if your diameter is already determined, number of necessary culverts).
Bonjour, j'ai un problème sur hec ras quant je convertira un levé topographique réal vers un DEM puis quant je crée terrain sur ras mapper je trouve une déférence des altitudes entre le levé initial et le fichier créé par ras mapper, merci.
Very nice and useful the "copy/past" .shp features tool for terrain modifications! Thank you! Have you ever tried with Z.Shape.shp 3D features? [es. extracted from feature lines by C3D design corridors] Can't wait to try it! Bye!
Ana, you're amazing. Keep going!! Your work is fantastic. From Brazil.
Hi Ana - just a word of thanks - you are inspiring and enlightening :-) :-)!!
You are a great teacher of Hec-ras and would like to be your student. Thanks so much
thank you for sharing this, i learned alot from you
Excellent video!! Keep the good work!
Thank you ...
Thank you for sharing.
Awesome movie ;)

Thank you! Yes you can define a different roughness for the different areas separetly. From the geometry, you can select manning-> calibration regions

I have a question, how would someone know how many culverts one would need to place in order for flow not to be disrupted or water overtopping ?
It is better to use try & error method with different scenarios, otherwise you can just use mathematical equations to obtain the necessary culvert diameter (or if your diameter is already determined, number of necessary culverts).
Do you have an idea how to create a uniform lower elevation, such as creating a pool of limited depth and area at river section?
Hi Joko, I would draw a polygon using the contour lines and then set that polygon to a given elevation. I think that could work.

please how can i download the DEMs

I have not tried but surely a good idea to check !
