Great video no one else does a review on these speakers like you did ,I appreciate it. I just bought a c50 sr8 and needs a full restoration!😮 I hope it's worth it. Thanx
Always enjoy your videos! Not sure why some look down on 2 way speakers, most I’ve heard sound great and compete with 3 ways. I’d like your T-shirt please!
Well Doug, looks like the T-Shirt is yours! (lol)...I think it's pretty cool. Let me see if I can figure out how to send you a private comment so that I can get your mailing address. JG
I remember helping my dad find a pair of L200's back in the mid 90's. We used to split up the Tradin Times classifieds (remember those?) from the different parts of the state and dig around to find some old vintage JBL's. I can still recall my eyes coming across the ad, I had to do a double take. They always reminded me of the head statues on Easter Island for some reason in their physical presence in a room. Now I have these speakers in my living room with a pair of Jubals sitting on top and switch out which pair I'm listening to periodically. I have better sounding pairs of speakers (B&W 802 Matrix, Magnapan MG IIIa etc.) but still can't get enough of the old L200's. Probably my favorite all time speaker.
Would love a tee! Back in the day I had the sansui 9000. I was in the navy and thru my career picked up a pair of jbl 4311's nakamichi cassette deck, linear tracking technics turntable. I think my eq was sansui also. I loved that rig but alas..someone else did to and broke in and stole it while I was at sea! Anyway I love your vintage therapy!
My Dad bought new the C50's years ago, and in the back of one of the speakers there is a pouch, and in that pouch is a catalog that shows the C50 Olympus speakers with a price of $258.00, so your price of $6,000.00 seems a little off to me.
We use to lay out of school in the 70’s and beer drink and play my friends father’s JBL speakers like the big ones here. They would rock, then I went with my brother in law to get something for his stereo at a big high end music shop and the salesman put on a album with a big Marantz and Klipsch K- Horns playing. I told my brother in law thasome day I’d own a pair of those big Klipsch Horns. I’ve been listening to them for over 30 years. Now I have a pair of Klipsch Belle’s playing on B- channel in the back , so I really rock ! Fell in love with Klipsch speakers and still am ! Those big JBL were very nice but here they sold Klipsch more than JBL ! Cool , they all rock !
I too am a fan of Klipsch. I've never had K-Horns, but I've had Vitavox's version called the CN-191. In terms of Klipsch, I've had 3 different pair of Cornwalls, 4 different pairs of Heresy (including the last generation - series 3), a pair of La Scala, and...the infamous Belle's. I will say, the Cornwalls make me smile the most! Great speakers, created by a Legend!
I have two pair of them in my man cave theater. One corner horn above the other separated by a corner shelf (floor to ceiling wall of sound) and JBL's in the rear and center channel.
@@jimfitting5639 I will always have my memories of them. Today it a pair of Klipsch k-Horns with a pair of Klipsch Belles on B- channel. I’m at live bar room sound level at around a quarter volume. They rock and at 65 so do I !
Oh, lots of hunting for that one...they are circa late 60's early 70's. Search Malm, Preway, conical fireplace...Mine cam up late one night on a buy sell site called Kijiji. Ran the next morning with cash in hand, lol.
Your info is off…the L200 or L200a had the LE15B woofer with the accordion surround. It was supposed to be crossed at 1,200 hz however it is noted for having a boomy bass. The L200B had the 136A woofer with the foam surround. It was crossed at 800hz and is typically more sought after than the L200.
I'll have to go back and re-listen to what I said about the L200... I've had 3 pairs of these - so, I am very familiar with them.. it was probably a late night, lol. Thanks for the input.
I’m with you, the 200 are more like what I would want but as you said if a pair of C50’s pop up in my future I’d take them. Both beautiful, someoto pass on to your children. Music
They're unbelievable! A difficult job would be go for l200b or the studio masters.... Love them all

Your right! I've certainly heard better, but they sure are fun to listen too!
I bought a pair of L100's in 1972 because I couldn't afford the L200's. I still have the L100's and now, also have a pair of L200's.
The best of both worlds!
Welcome back.
lol, I know...it's like I've been hiding on the moon or something!
I loved my l200s. And miss them.
I've been tempted to buy another pair of L200's...very tempted.
*You have a great speaker. And a Great hifi system* 👍👍👍 I have a JBL 4341
Thank you!

Sold mine for $6500 Canadian. They do command big dollars today!

I have a pair of L 100s
Cost $250 each in 73. I'm pushing them with a Sherwood SEL200. 125 watts at 8 ohms. Good enough for a guy like me
lol, that was a barrrrgoon! $250, wow!
Love your decorating style. Please tell me where you got that orange retro fireplace. Thanks.

JBL Forever !!
Right on!!
Q What would think of a stack from Peavy (KF-550's ,and the KB-500's) running two Crown's Micro's 400 watt amps ?
I've never heard them - I really couldn't comment. Is this your current stack?
Loved the l200 but better l300
