    The Orian going past the opera house in Sydney in 1960 was a bit of a feat, they’d only just broken ground for it. Wasn’t completed until the 70s

      Yes! The official opening wasn't until 20 October 1973.

      @@leecowell8165 Right in the middle of the construction the architect had a dispute with the government or the builders and he went home, never to return. The design was modified slightly after that. Then they ran out of money and they started the opera house lottery to raise money. Some unfortunate history behind that lottery too.

      I came to say just that. Oriana served from 1960 to 2005. That photo is closer to 1980. Sirius building is there, completed 1980.

    Good photo, since the Opera House wasn't opened until the 20th October, 1973, this ''1960'' shot would be a pretty good feat of time travelling technology. Maybe they meant 1980.

    SS Oriana in Sydney, it can’t be 1960 as the Opera House wasn’t officially opened until 1973.

      That's right. The base had barely begun in 1960. The shells still hadn't been designed. It wasn't finished until 1973.

    Caption "SS Oriana in Sydney, 1960" is wrong. The Opera House was completed in1973. In 1960 there would not have been one sail completed .

    The "SS Oriana in Sydney, 1960" pic is very much in error. The Sydney Opera House was built in 1973 many years later so this is grossly incorrect.

    • @BigBri550
      @BigBri550 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Sydney Opera House opened in '73; construction on it began in 1959. I'm not saying the date on the picture in the video was accurate, but the opera house wasn't built in '73.
