    I commented in another video about coiling using string then realised you’ve made a video about it….brilliant!! 😁

    Love your clear and concise demonstration. And I disagree with the person who said it was blurry...close ups were very helpful and clear.

    Such awesome instructions. I am excited to try this soon. I purchased some paper rush a couple years ago and have been clueless how to start. Thank you so much for the wonderful explanation.

    Wow! My first wrapped gourd as I watched this great instructional video. Very professional and organic at the same time. Just a hint or two though, adding waxed linen to the existing is challenging. Perhaps on another video this can be added. I got it and perhaps others have also but then there are a few that wouldn't know what to do. Also it was difficult for me to see your second, third and etc. row stitching. I didn't want to deviate from the stitching I was doing so I just kept up with the original V. Is it me? First timer however is happy enough and thank you for the tutorial. Your artwork is spectacular.

      Thank you for your comment! That’s awesome you also did your first coiled gourd, congratulations!🎉 There are several ways to stitch subsequent rows so your input is helpful. I will try and get a few short videos on these upcoming!

    i really enjoyed the video on doing the V stitch. Very informative. I want to make a suggestion on the ending stitching. They make a curved needle that can be found in a package named upholstery needles. Might make it easier on the last stitches. Just a suggestion. You did a beautiful job on the gourd.

    Hi Jenn! I noticed on one of your tutorials with the butterfly that you did a leather rim around the top. Do you have a tutorial showing how you did that leather rim?

    What size is the paper fiber? Where do you purchase yours? Loved the video. You are a great teacher.

      Thank you! The tag on the bundle of fiber I have says 4/32”. I bought it from Country Seat (basketry supplier you can find online)

    Do you ever do wire coiling? Do you have a video for that?

  • @Silversmith925
    @Silversmith925 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you ever used artificial sinew rather than wire? Or maybe a heavy thread?

    • @JennAveryGourdArt
      @JennAveryGourdArt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have used artificial sinew, it works well! Here I am using Irish waxed linen. I have not used wire.

    What do you coat the inside of the gourd with?. Plus if the gourd walls are thin what do you use to strengthen the walls.

    • @JennAveryGourdArt
      @JennAveryGourdArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just acrylic paint. There is a wood hardener you can pour in to strengthen a thin gourd. But I just avoid using thin gourds!

    Maravilhoso!

  • @dawnabbott3783
    @dawnabbott3783 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice work…..so I guess it naturally curves inward? Also, I am assuming you didn’t have the full length of thread at the beginning and that when you are ready for more, another length of thread was tied to the end. Is that correct?

    • @JennAveryGourdArt
      @JennAveryGourdArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that is correct, the rim is cut on an angle inward so the coiling will follow that. I could force it to go in other directions if I wanted. I use about a double arm’s length, and yes when that runs out I need to add more.

      I use an awl or a drill to put holes in the gourd rim, is that what you wanted to know?

    ولكن كيف تمت معالجة اليقطين ؟؟؟؟؟

    • @JennAveryGourdArt
      @JennAveryGourdArt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is a hardshell gourd and it dries naturally. It takes 9-12 months for them to dry completely.
