As a child, forty something years ago we had cornfields near our home and my Dad used to take me to watch the harvesting. As an adult, 50 in November, I still love to watch it especially in the dark.
Hollywood employs countless writers and directors in mega-budget productions and yet can't produce anything as entertaining as Harry explaining farming, racing a storm to finish the harvest :) Let's see the twists and turns of the next season!
More in this style please, the "off the cuff" "stream of consciousness". The immediacy of your situation while recording, created a visceral experience surpassing any exotic-car road test.
Why would anyone pay the BBC £12 per month to watch shows like Countryfile when you can get content like this for free which is far more informative and exciting.
Because the BBC is excellent value for money and the envy of the world. What other broadcaster stepped up to educate our kids when Coronavirus struck? Educate, Inform and Entertain.
I want this channel to be part of the curriculum. we should all know where our food comes from, how it is harvested and the trials and tribulations that are involved with farming.. Harry has a rare ability to explain and educate in a straight talking manner that is so engaging you just want to keep watching!!
Amazing how invested we have all become in the fortunes of Harry's Farm in the last year or so, Brilliant to see it from planting to harvest with all the ups and downs 2020 has brought
I remember so many days like that on my parents' farm - tension, pressure and at times frayed nerves - that's farming in New Zealand too. Well done, Harry and good riddance to 2020 from over here too.
I never thought I would watch farming videos but Harry you make it a delight. I 've watch just about all you farming videos and most more than once, probably many many times. I subscribe to both your channels and they have become my main source of entertain and to relax to. Harry you are an absolute pleasure. Thank you Sir.
Harry, yet another engaging, entertaining and informative presentation. Yours are much more than ‘videos’! I was feeling anxious about you and Charlie finishing the harvest before the rain storm rolled in - very exciting! Keep the excellent farming content coming - So fascinating!!!👍👍👍👍
Magic stuff as ever Harry. I think that it's about time that you introduced us to Charlie and his take on Harry's Farm. Looking fwd to more video's on getting the land sorted & planted for next year.
A very edifying watch indeed. If only more content was so informative and authentic. The frenetic pace to complete the harvest before the inclement weather closed in was genuine suspense and entertainment. I derive a vicarious pleasure watching a vocation that I’ve always felt affiliated to!
Your films are a joy and remind me of my Great Uncles farm in Somerton, Somerset who was very traditional in that everything was from horse dawn days plus a threshing machine and several very elderly Fordson tractors, one or two of which worked! In the 1950,60’s it was a picture book but probably highly inefficient. He never worried..as long as they had something to eat, he didn’t care. I wish I had pictures to show but Harry...keep cutting, ploughing and seeding...it makes us feel good! 😀😀😀😀
If someone had said you have to watch some guy and his farming toys, I would have laughed at them. Yet here we are, both myself & my wife glued to it like it was Line Of Duty !
Absolutely fascinating. It’s compelling viewing. Since watching Harry’s Farm I know more about ears, tilling, drilling, moisture content, combining and a vast array of other stuff I feel like I want a job. Gis a job Harry! 🚜
Hi Harry....watching the harvest is a bit of a thriller....I love your videos..and love watching all things on the farm...all your work is really appreciated!. Richard
Wonderful farming drama, we're there for real. And all that big kit with really informed explanations. I learn something from every programme, and I'm a farming journalist!
I wish we had held our nerve for an extra day, Our moisture started at 15.7 in the morning and finished at 14.4 in the evening. The promised storm never came, it went around us and up the river Severn instead. Great light show.... but apart from a few drops.... No rain. Oh for a crystal ball.
This video is absolutely brilliant mate. I felt the tension watching it as the storm approached. But gum you've a hard job , weather, breakdowns etc all live too. Honestly one of the best vids I've ever watched . Respect and more
Another cracking video with equally exciting commentary. Latest we went on night was 04.30 am. Spring barley, moisture was low, straw didn't get damp, boss gave us a choice: to stop late night or keep going because he would have to pay us at the week end anyway. We kept trosh'in. Had a slight rain which cause straw to wrap around header. Moisture still good. Finnish the whole lot by 20.00 the following day (Friday). Thanks Hugh & Darren!
Best Harry's Farm video yet. Riveting stuff and loved that he continued filming as the rain fell, really gives you a great perspective on farming. For good or ill.
Thanks for taking time for the camera! Very excited to see the harvest come indoors. I really think you have managed this year (which we shall never speak of again) well.
Thanks harry for capturing the race against the weather so nicely, you could see the combine getting faster and faster as the rain storm closed in, hope next year will be a great one,
Superb viewing - thank you. We had a combine going up and down the field next door to us a week or two ago, leaving its usual trail of clouds of dust that got everywhere, covering our house and garden as usual. At least now I have an understanding of what’s involved and it’s absolutely fascinating. It’s really good of you to go to the trouble of explaining this to all of us who know absolutely nothing about farming. Better luck next year!
We're grateful that you kept the camera rolling even though you were up against it, close but no cigar, plus Charlie was shaving that off Wilkinson Sword close to the ground, another excellent video, thanks.
I'm a truck driver. A few years ago i gave the bulker job a go just at harvest time. I enjoyed collecting the wheat from the farms but delivering it to the mills etc was a nerve wracking time. They test the moisture content at every delivery point and are happy to reject it if they don't like it. Fortunately i didn't have many problems.
Thank you for the video Harry. A charming look into life on a farm, something that shows how the world is still chugging along even as loud mouth people shout over one another. Can't wait to see the next installment!
That’s was super cool, miss farming with my Father, spring barley all in, but yields were crap too, like you say forget 2020 crack on 2021!! Hope you drinking some good wine 🍷 👍👍
Fabulous stuff Harry; I am definitely a fan of yours; real drama not manufactured stuff!!!!! It would not be remotely so good without your ability to communicate and explain everything.
Only Harry can make watching the combine harvesting more exciting than watching F1 these days. I enjoyed this video more than watching Spanish GP. Marvellous indeed!
Great video Harry, you certainly cut that fine. Best to get it in before the storm, in case it was like what we had up here in NE Scotland the other morning. Have never seen rain like it before.
Hi harry, enjoy your videos. we finished harvest on the 12th, also glad to see the bsck of this one, but as annoying as rain is at harvest i would be happy to see some. In my part norfolk we haven't had any for weeks missing the storms so far and it lokks like the next batch coming on the 14th will miss us as well. The sugar beet leaves are on the floor each day now and are really struggling. What a season.
Thanks again Harry. Wonderful, informative video. I've learned so much about farming and get to enjoy it without all the risks that you carry. I really hope 2021 is better for all the farmers like you that we take for granted.
I used to help two brothers with their planting and harvest. Rain started during planting. Brother on radio to brother-on-the-planter who wanted to keep going, "Don't make a mess of it..."
My wife and her mum grow rice in Thailand. Fifteen years ago, dozens of people would turn up to help hand harvest the crop. As factories moved into the country it ended up with three of us taking almost three months to do the crop; people were busy in the factories. Finally, I persuaded them to rent a combine harvester service . Instead of three months the crop was cut in less than a day. One thing was pretty much guaranteed - it was not going to rain for several more months.
Fascinating Harry, more of these videos please - I like the simples explanations and things like that. It makes the viewer feel like we are there with you.
I was in Perthshire last week, lots of fields of very short wheat and barley due to May's drought. Not much harvesting yet, but the area did get the storms last week, last Wednesday night was an 8 hour continual thunderstorm and very heavy rain. The huge areas of flattened crops the day after was disheartening.
Never thought that i would be interested in this kind of videos . But i am really a big fan of that gentleman and everything that he shares with us is interesting and exciting. So thank you dear Harry for these experiences that you share with us.Greetings from Greece.
Harry! That was a classic 'race against time' video. Way more exciting than some Hollywood movies I've seen recently! Here's hoping and praying for a truly great 2021 year for you!
My uncle had a farm of about 60 acres. He had a Dronninborg trailed combine with initially a four foot cutting head, then he traded up to six feet. It took a week to cut twenty eight acres of Barley, but they really were happy days.
Really do love your videos Harry, I had a weekend job as teenager on a farm and loved harvest, carting as a 13 year old I felt like a grown up 🤣 still have a passion for farming now. Keep up the good work, very well presented and informative.
Just discovered your farming videos and working my way through them, this one is Amazing , well done for keeping calm and positive. Great videos so far, very interesting and professionally done. Loved my time working on a farm and fortunately I didn’t own one! Keep them coming
