    I was surprised to learn. How big the Union charge was. At 14000 soldiers it was larger than the more famous Ickes charge

      Yeah dude they didn't mess around back then. It was a meat grinder

      Yes, we felt the same way. Didn't realize the scale of the assault. And as Tim mentioned, using tactics that had shown success in previous offensives.
