When America still had some innocence and hope was abound, really miss that era the absolute best.
I was there and can confirm that this is all true. The 80's is indeed the greatest decade in human history 😅❤
@@Veganerd_ Indeed. I remember my parents telling me at 10 years old to go and hang out at the local pool hall/bowling alley so I could learn how men related to each other. Although I didn't become a gangster, and the men weren't "criminals" but were most definitely professional pool hustlers, the experience for me was very similar to the beginning of the movie Goodfellas.
As kids we were prank calling people and trying to get on the local radio station by requesting songs.
Well, I was in the 80's. Not all of us had MTV back then. For the rest of us, Friday Night Videos on NBC was our source for music videos.
I waited up until Friday Night Videos came on. I remember waited for the premiere of the Thriller video😊
boy, those were the days, we as a group would sit around the tv just having fun. The 80's were the best for everything!
Malls were big in the 80's too not just the 70's
yep. my dad met a LOT of women there-so he says. in other words, he played a lot of Atari.
Headbangers Ball was something I looked forward too every week! It was awesome!
You could go to the mall ,meet all types of girls and hang out all day, and watch cartoons on Saturday morning so much fun in the 70s and 80s and life was good
LIFE WAS INDEED GOOD-SO THEY SAY. I've read the most popular decade was the 1980s, followed by the 1950s.
I miss sking rinks. I was a "wall skater," meaning I held onto the wall and pushed myself along. But nobody cared. We all had a great time.
i grew up playing ice hockey but i couldn't roller skate very well even though that was the only place we had for birthday parties in the 70's and early 80's
Concert tickets rarely costed more than $25, and without a bunch of add-on fees. Parking was free, and there was no add-on taxes and fees. $25 was $25, and that's it. Many times a touring band would stop at a local music store before or after a show to sign autographs for free. Movies were $5 for first-run, and second-run movies were $1. Plus fast food was actually cheap. And we can't forget about hanging out at the mall, which often had movie theaters in them in the 80s.
And the concerts we went to was real music with real musicians. Teenager throughout the 80's great time to be young, we were truly lucky to be young in this era, today's youth are being cheated big time and they don't even know it. Went to so many concerts, almost 56 WHERE DOES THE TIME GO 😮. It's scary fast... Peace.........
As someone who was actually there in the 1980’s….. You went to a bar and then a nightclub,,, and then after hours party, and then breakfast at a diner. Saturday was lather rinse repeat……. You got drunk you got laid and you tried real hard to go to work Monday morning, sober and satisfied…. They tell me the 80s were great I wish I remembered them HAHAHA
Great video, it was such a great time to grow up, fashion , music, video games, were booming! Kids today have no clue, life was just so easy back then. The 80s rule!!!
A Friday night concert was the best or Saturday. The 80's and 70's even the 90's for concerts. Every year there were great concerts to go to. So many great tours.
And the tickets were around 20 bucks. Also, concerts w/o screens, we didn't watch through a filter. People on stage saw a sea of faces, not phones.
im guessing from about 1977 to 1992 was the best for America, before the dark times, before ZOGonzo joos.
No masks in the 80's lol 😂😂😂 but loved the video! Wish i could go back intime to the mid 80's! Best time ever!!
I noticed that too. We would have thought it was odd to see someone (back then) out in public in a surgical mask. Unless he was Michael Jackson after a cosmetic surgery.
Blockbuster, popcorn..soda..all set 😊
Thursday nite was Magnum PI and Simon and Simon 7.up and Dorito's
Before you went out, you watched "Dallas", or set your vcr to record it.
My dad is 76 and says the 80s is his favorite decade
Friday Nights were the best; watching TV and anticipating the wonders of the weekend, especially Saturday Morning cartoons and Soul Train and the Kung Fu Theatre! When you heard the General Lee on the Dukes of Hazard, you knew you earned your keeps for the week, not to mention Friday Night Videos on NBC!
As an 80's Baby I enjoyed the shows, movies and all the entertainment that I can live to watch every Friday.
Back when parties were NEVER Broke up by cops!!!
Considering that this is about the 80’s very few shots were at that time. Stuff from the 40’s,50’s and 60’s yes but not the 80’s
WE HAD IT ALL IN THE 80'S.
Great times indeed.
I was a kid and early teenager in the 1980’s some of us didn’t watch mtv or rent videos we watched mtv and recorded shows and movies on the tv we also had home game counsels like arti and in the late ‘80’s Nintendo
I would die waiting friday to come asap. Game and VHS rental for the weekend man! Expectation is something kids today dont have and dont know of.
I was in high school in the 70s......80s I was partying.
The 80s were my fav! I lived and worked in Hollywood, worked in music industry. Had my own band, financial backing, did record promotion. Was surrounded by all sorts of famous artists. Made many friends.😂❤
My bike never saw the road again after I got my driver’s license in ‘83. Me & buddies usually went to the movies during the week, not the weekends when they were packed. We did hit the arcades and pool halls until we were 19, then we hit the bars in Windsor, Canada.
In the ‘80s, cruising had switched from the nationally famous Woodward Ave. to Gratiot Ave. on the East Side. Lot’s of good memories on Gratiot.
I spent most Friday nights in the 80s playing table top role playing games, half of that time I was stationed overseas.
I grew up in a rural area, all we had was a 12ft satellite dish and all the movie channels, until they began scrambling their signals.
Key difference between all the 20th century decades and today is that back then music defined each generation. Today music is still important, but it isn't central to culture the way it was back then. Music has become relegated to background music as people twiddle away on their cell phones.
The internet ruined the entire world but especially America. Also i wonder if you could be double sued for showing a copyrighted video on a t.v. in your video. Hmmm.
Bitter Sweet 😢❤
I'm pretty sure the roller skate craze had just about gone away by the 1980s-- this was more of a mid-late 70s endeavor, culminating when the Xanadu movie was released-- and we all know that was a box-office disaster since roller skating was done.
my dad said he remembers going on classroom field trips to skating rinks and they played Michael Jackson and DuranDuran as everybody played video games.
MTV was awesome back then. Now it s#$cks. No more music videos. It's all reality shows.
Ah yes, who else remembers playing DDR? Those Bangles tracks were so difficult!
Friday night MTV, Marijuana & donuts 👍
Imwas born in 1970 the 80’s were great
Actually Blockbuster wasn't really a thing for most of the country in the 80s. It was more a 90s thing.
right. late late 80s i believe. i mean 1972 was the first VHS movie 'the young teacher'...but it didnt really take off until the 1990s.
Square Pan Pizza had the best arcades...pac man... Tetris...Tempest.,,Galaga.
i grew up in a village, no cable.... i worked in Ballys Aladdins castles in different area malls throughout the 80's :)
I was a little kid in the 80s, didn't have cable til early 90s but my best friend did, with HBO and all. We watched Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Rambo, The Goonies, Back to the Future, Karate Kid. Saw The Neverending Story in the theater. Man, it was a great time to be a kid, too. lol
Blockbuster Video was more of the 90’s.
Friday night in the 80s for me was pizza hut and high school football, or video magic.
💪80's💪
I was a teenager in the 1980s. We weren’t biking in the 1980s. If you had your license you were cruising. And if you didn’t you cruised with friends that did. This video makes it sound like the 80s were the 1950s when in reality we were partying, underage drinking, and any other kind of debauchery we could get ourselves in to. This was quite the sanitized reflection.
There were also social areas in high school: the smokers, the preppies, the partiers, etc. The ones who drank were in their own club. But us ‘preppies’ biked everywhere and never drank. It was a different world.
Same here. C/O ‘89. We “cruised” and “trolled” for chics once we had a license. 14 and under we rode BMX bikes without gps or cell phones as far as our legs could pedal. I grew up in the burbs of Houston. We even had “Vanz” here-Black and Gray with Black checkers for me. One day we wore Parachute pants, then the next were boots and jeans. Fun times back then with crazy freedom from parents who wanted us to stay outside until dinner.
Yeah, I had my own personal takeover in my town. I got three tickets in one week at 18. Racing, exhibition driving and speeding above double the speed limit. My insurance which I was forced to have was $280 a month for a car I bought after the tickets and it was the absolute opposite type vehicle. A 85 crx si. And that was for liability.
Weekend sleepovers with F13 marathons and Commodore 64 Olympic Games competitions.
On West Main High school crowd showed off their hot rods in Reebs dairy parking lot and McDonalds parking lot
Of course, the SWC of Texas and Arkansas too!
GAL! AH! GA! , Not Galayga! Or Golaye Ga! ... Narrorator theres no Oh in GALAGA! 😂
So awesome🩵
where i lived friday night meant booze drugs and girls and of course we had many musicians to play.. Fridays lasted until Sunday and cant remember them lol...
Exactly. This made it sound like we were Amish or something. Aside a couple things, yeah we were doing all the wrong this that would get us in trouble. Lol
blockbuster was more of a 90s thing
How strange to hear a narrative that is so close to true and yet completely off in its description.
I love the comedy movies of the 80s. Today's comedy movies sucks. They're just not very funny, and they cover topics that are not funny at all.
It's impossible to be funny and "politically correct" at the same time.
most of those pictures were a lot older than the 80s.
Who caught the footage of people wearing masks? That had to be 2020.😂😂😂
This wasn't as accurate as the 1970 episode. More late 80's cable tv was huge from 1980-1986 -87
Reaganomics, freedom, great music, TV and movies, America was on the march while communism was in retreat. I'd give anything to re-live these wonderful years again!
This is the Fast Times version of Fast Times at Ridgemont High. It's like Turning Japanese,, no sex no drugs no women.
I'd love to go to the 1980s and comb my hair like DuranDuran to get women. Wait, I'm doing that now, nevermind jaw jaw jaw...
I’m not happy someone please help me. I know you think they don’t care about you, but I need a life I’m suffering big time. STOP IT!! I just want to have fun
guh-LAH-guh?!?
it all depended on where you lived as to what went on on Friday nights
right. i lived in Antartica. the blockbuster video store was never busy
we had in the 1980s a Pharmacy called Phar mor on West Main it had the interchangeable digital watches with the interchangeable bands and face it I think cost about six or 8 dollars it was a Swatch knockoff the ones at Venture and K Mart cost more we had GPX personal stereo receivers with Headset and GE cassette player with ear buds and AM FM stereo Sony Walkman Sharp Hi Fye and tube televisions we had accordion bottles for drink powder with lids all you had to do was undo the accordion bottle and put water in it and shake it up. We had fish sticks Mrs Paul's Van Kamp and Gordon's we had Vess soda Shasta and still do today but no NY Soda date nights were Fridays as were Jr High dances Proms were on Saturday in the spring
Highly sanitized and too focused on "community". Also, some things are way out of date.
Great topic,too much talk.
I saw a lot of mask wearing in this video. I don't remember that being a thing in the 80's. I was in my 20's and in the military then.
You can still rent videos from the sole remaining Blockbuster in Bend Oregon.
alright, im on my way, let me find a phonebooth first to put Terminator tape on hold....
Highly sanitized and too focused on "community". Also,
So, this is about the 80s? Why the scenes from the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s etc? Half the movies shown are way before the 80s. Disappointed in this video to say the least.
Not very accurate. Most important thing about Friday nights......sex on back roads.
These are so lame and generic!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!😇
No kids on Friday night was watching MTV. That’s a fucking lie.
wtf is gah LAH gah? lmao it's GALAGA i.e, GAL-ih-guh.
On Friday night in the early 80s you said it table with your parents trying to get extra five dollars for gas or a sneaky six pack of beer. Nobody gave two shits about MTV.
MTV was my aunts life during mid 80s. girlies back then loved Duran and Depeche. they alsoooooo wanted $ to party, sure.
I’d go back to the 80’s in a nano second.
