I think there was a minor mistake when the author said that "taught" is "past simple" instead of "past participle". She made the audience confused about the structure of first conditional, which simply is present simple tense in the if clause and future simple tense in the main clause .
I know it was slip of the tongue, but "are taught" isn't the Past Simle form by no means. It's a passive contruction of the Present Simple tense. That's way it's a part of a 1st Conditional structure.
Hey Teacher: (4:42) Did you mean simple present? Because for all I know the first conditional doesn't work with past simple. So if Children ARE taught to be good members of society, the world WILL be a better place. The key word is ARE instead of TAUGHT. TAUGHT is in the past just because of the passive voice. Am I wrong?
Last time I wrote an essay I started writing about the differences between bred dogs and pet shop dogs, and somehow I ended up writing about wear and tear on turtles...
Hey Jade i need your help,i have done IELTS recently ,but did not get require band. I had problem in writing ,and that is still until . Please guide me.
Thank You so much for this lesson Jade!!!!!!.. I'm really interested about learning english.,so your video is quite helpfull.I've just been watching others channels ,however yours are better.
hi i started watching ur videos i watched the Introduction video for the essay Ielts and i'm watching the conclusion one but why can't i find the video explaining the essay body ? i mean the essay is three parts so i only know the first one and the last one or i'm wrong ? thank u
In the last sentence "....the role of the family would be destroyed." seems like a very unnecessarily strong word and (i think) doesn't fit in...compared to the rest of the conclusion. In my opinion, the better sentence might be " If schools were to teach this, the role of the family would become obsolete."....this sentence seems to be a little bit more subtle and seems to fit in quite nice.... and also shows off your vocabulary. Just saying...
Hi Jade, I would dedicate this week to watch all of your videos, in the hope to erase all my bad memories of learning English in my teenage years. At that time, people of the same age of mine learnt for exam's sake. Nearly no one was learning out of interest. It's just a compulsory subject. I felt sick of it. The teachers looked dull in their facial expression. The lessons were always repeating. I just needed to practice spelling, and did endless mock exam paper of the same kind. It's killing my interest of the language. I would say I can't master the language well because of the bad memories from my earlier life.

Thank you, Jade! It's really helpful.
Now, grammar in my paper is simply perfect! Thanks

If schools were to teach, the role of the family would be destroyed. I am sorry, but does this idea make sense?
Depends on your point of view
