as gorgeous as that thing is, clearly the very best restoration ive seen...but i just cant seem to ever remember WILLYS coming out with a urethane base-coat/clear-coat paint-job that was sanded buffed and glazed to within an inch of its life before...maybe its just my memory.....

Always place the bonnet gently while opening or closing..when it hits the Mirror side( Open) and headlamps upper side(Close)..Gets dents on it. Edit: Nice color.. M going to have the same on my Jeep.
Donny D Yess..It only defends from scratches..What I was saying is..When the wood hits the metal with force.. It creates small dents through the centreline of the hood without damaging the colour..Moving hand on it will feel small dots only on the center line..because of the points where welding ( underneath of hood)is used to support it .
Uuufff.que maravilha. eu amo sou apaixonado por esses carros. mas não tenho condição de comprar um tesouro desses.tenho 60 anos e 40 anos de motorista. e minha paixão por carros antigos .alguém pode me dar um carro desses. ? aaaff. seria a minha felicidade.
Willy's are great old desirable jeeps, but you'd have to change everything about this jeep to make it a highway vehicle. Only an 80" wheel base and steers like a tractor. I think the CJ3A will go about 60 mph and that's plenty
@Donny D Well I do have an overdrive in my 53 CJ3A keeping the rpms much lower, but 60 exceeds the safe feeling, and I am saying it's not a highway vehicle, more of a small town, back road farm vehicle.
@Donny D I really like the overdrive, great for any tar roads. Feels like a 4th gear dropping the rpms way down. I'm not sure it's any faster at top end, but it is way more comfortable to hit 50+ without high revs.
You went a little overboard cosmetically making it a little too perfect. Too nice for dirt roads and trails. Looks almost exactly like mine but mine seems more useable. That's the problem with these jeeps when you continue to work on them, they start looking better than new. I figured I better stop making mine look better and start enjoying it.
I did research on that first this was a original unrestored Jeep when we started and it never had them installed. There would have been some remnants of welting or rivets on the radiator support. Also I got confirmation from the experts that even though the later 3A's had the flanges Willys stopped installing the welting.
@@219Tucker Thanks, yeah I had to double check as it looks weird not having a welting with the flange in place and I was going to add the welting but the Willy's experts said that's how it was so that's how I left it.
@@fullcircleresto Yes I saw this earlier this year. Loved the color so did my restoration of my 47 CJ-2a the same exact color except I did black wheels and a black interior. I installed the radiator welting, also the hood welting on the two smaller sections of the grille. Brass rivets holding the hood welting to give a touch of class under the hood. :-)
How can you put so much time and money into this restoration and still pronounce the name wrong the i in the name Willy's as a short I sound pronounced as if it were Willis

How much of the body is original?
Which diesel engine would fit into a CJ3A like this best? A diesel engine that can go on the highway without impeding traffic.
edgar215
Mercedes or Kubota. A gas 20r Toyota would get excellent mpg and cause people to lose their minds...
