Me too,So sad, I loved his smile. Did anyone on here know he had cancer but what actually kill him he died from a blood clot RIP EVH I am happy to say I grew up with that music I'm a David Lee Roth fan have to say Van Halen rocks, I like Sammy Hagar I can't drive 55 but I loved David Lee Roth voice and when he left the band you just can't replace the frontman AC/DC did a pretty good job . Loved bon Scott so when he passed they didn't say hey we got a new singer or nothing I just went in there with Brian Johnson and that was magic, talking about all the bands that I grew up with led Zeppelin Aerosmith Van Halen Black Sabbath they are all dying we got old and believe me we rockers party hard, and I'm paying the price for it now my hips need replaced my knees need replaced my back is broken 💔 and my heart is broken gosh I can't remember the year living on Quaaludes but they did a rock concert in Omaha Van Halen was the warm up band for Aerosmith I'm 60 years old now I think I can't swear if it was 78 or 79 but yeah we pushed the boundaries I rocked out in the best generation ever, I miss, bye bye Miss American pie drove my Chevy to the levy but the Levy was dry and good old boys drinking whiskey and rye singing this will be the day that I die 😢😿😭💞

Women (and Men) were not so damn PC then. Open dialog and everyone not being "offended" made social situations more positive and entertaining. @Denise G. You have a good point. Valerie and Eddie were in the public eye so privacy was not an option. Celebrities who want privacy keep to themselves off stage or out of the studio. Back then people were much less offended but less prepared to dodge questions they did not want to answer.
There have been many cases of the celebrity just walking out of the interview.

@Denise G. People who are public figures choose how they protect their privacy. Right? She was young and already famous but being a rock stars wife and being an actress is different. No doubt...extremely sexist times during the 70's & 80's, when Mike was in his heyday on TV. He was a very nice guy & I believe he meant well, but was from the generation where it was OK to make a big deal of such things with women...even accomplished women, as Valerie was already in her young career. Valerie absolutely admitted to doing "coke" regularly at one point & time as well as also being unfaithful to Eddie during their 20+ yr marriage. Don't be blaming all the bad behavior on "the rock star", as she was just as much of a flawed human as he was...As we ALL are, from time to time in our lives. And just because they both engaged in some wild behavior, doesn't mean they are/were bad people. I can imagine her anguish at having to watch your only child lose, not only his father, but his very best friend. And for his only brother Alex too, to also lose his very best friend. It's extra tragic because of how close they all were.
I recently saw an interview with one of Valerie's brothers. He was visibly broken up talking about Ed's passing. So it's quite clear, Ed & Val remained very tight, as did their families. How do you not reach out for all those things that might not be so healthy for you...to comfort you...when the worst possible thing is happening & you can't do anything to stop it. I have no doubt they were all back with him that morning, but Ed was no longer coherent at that time to recognize them. (His wife Janie, his brother Al, Wolf & ex- Valerie) were all there. “I’m gonna abandon my spirit to them which is exactly what I attempt to do. You work yourself up into that state and you fall into the supplication of the demon gods.” - David Lee Roth (Rock, April 1984, page 30)
“I started playing guitar, drinking, and smoking at the age of twelve.” - Edward Van Halen
Where did Eddie get his inspirations for songs and the tones he came up with for them? Well, here is an excerpt from a January 1997 Guitar World interview Eddie connected. It was in an article titled UNCHAINED MELODIES by Steven Rosen. These are actual quotes by Eddie Van Halen given: “It’s a wicked feeling when a complete piece of music comes to you. But it’s not me, I’m just a vehicle and I really believe that.” “I ended up writing five songs that day including the music for Me Wise Magic. It blew my mind. I just didn’t want to believe I could do it without drinking.” “Then she had me do some yoga and meditation and some chanting. Next she had me close my eyes and imagine the room that you go to after you’ve had a six-pack of beer. Really try and feel that place. The therapist continued and said, Look you’ve been chosen to do this. All you are doing by drinking is blocking it. It’s a lot easier for them to send it when you are clear.
    I wonder who “them” is…..Demons……..
Also, Valerie Bertenelli is wicked as well. Valerie is an icon of show business and why is that? Yes she is pretty and she seems to have done a great job raising her son Wolfgang Van Halen. But she has been known to attend the Kabbalah Center and she wears a red string on her wrist which signifies allegiance to the devil. Here is an excerpt from her book Losing It: And Gaining My Life Back One Pound At A Time by Valerie Bertinelli on pages 157-158: Thankfully, I was able to stay at home for my next project, Murder of Innocence. Although shot locally, it took me as far away from myself as I’d ever been. The character I played, Laurie Wade, was a newlywed whose childhood traumas trigger a series of psychotic breaks that lead her to shoot at schoolchildren. She then commits suicide. Though the project let me work with director Tom McLoughlin again, I didn’t for one minute like climbing into the skin of this woman. I had the feeling that the ghost of Laurie Wade didn’t like it either. One day Tom and I were walking down a tree-lined street in an residential neighborhood, going over a scene in which Laurie is in a manic state when suddenly we heard an ear-splitting squawk that I swear to God sounded like someone saying “Get off!” Both of us looked up and saw two giant ravens sailing toward each other, like two planes on a collision course. He & I are about the same on that regard..He tells me everything, sometimes too much.. The younger one is opinionated he's just more measured & a little shy.. Parents need to stop coddling their kid's & make them realize the real world is tough & doesn't revolve around them

We didn’t see them hit, but suddenly one bird fell from the sky hitting tree branches on its way down and landing with a thud at my feet. I looked down and saw blood dripping from its mouth. I looked at Tom and said, “I don’t want to be this woman anymore.” As the weeks progressed I broke down into hives and rashes. They had dermatologists visit the set. Nothing worked. @@lisaallen918 She is lying in her book, too, altho I'm not sure why. I got curious after I saw your post and borrowed a copy of it from a friend of mine who had it. I started reading it, and the account she gives of the way it went down when she first met Eddie doesn't seem to match up with the photos she posted on Instagram last week of the first night they met. She claims in the book that she was taken into a room that Eddie was in with Alex. However, the 2 photos that were posted on the internet appear to show them in an open space with several people and Alex isn't in the background.

@@jacsig wow, you are really wrapped up in the details, aren’t you ? Just because she said they were in a room, but the pics show them in an open space, doesn’t make her a liar !! She never said the pics were taken at the ‘exact moment’ that they met, maybe they were just from that initial first meeting. That would still be when they first met. God, get a life !! Who cares if they were in a room or an open space ???

@@barbarawoodall4835 Happy New Year! Yeah that's what I thought too that it may have been taken later, after she initially fist met him. I don't really care if they were in a room or an open space, but it's just interesting to me that some of the accounts in her book about the way things happened don't match up with other people's accounts who were also there at the same time, including her own brothers or what she said in interviews both back then and since she wrote the book in 2008. And thank you for your advice.
