For the claymore vs great axe, it’s a lot easier to get armor than it is resistance, as well as there are many powerful enemies weak to spirit damage
I couldn't get into AoW 3, but the 4th got me hooked.
heavy armor greaves actually don't impact map movement. The slow effect does. But these apply slow ONLY in combat.

Summon animal is one of the best tier 1 spells. Get some Hunter Spiders and level them to matriarchs, and you have amazing tier 4 units on turn 15. Wildspeakers are also great, any unit that has a summon ability is good, but there are certainly better alternatives for flooding your enemy with units.

I think your hero starts with all racial traits if you pick champion but if it’s a Wizard king you have to unlock them when he lvls up?

Paradox with another W of a game that I'm going to have to drop $400 for all the dlc
ok dude so if you like tome of beasts try combining it with unicorn mystics. Your tier 3 spellbreaker gets mounted and becomes cav, so all your tome of beast buffs affect the best battlemage in the game who can also teleport because he's riding a goddamn unicorn. If you add tome of scrying it gives you an enchantment called "guided projectiles" and that lets you shoot through your own units without accuracy debuffs. Once you have that you can ditch all the other units and make a goddamn unicorn battlemage khannate. This is peak tome of beasts.
THE best is actually industrious with wolves for adjacent melee dmg.
It synergises with their race trait that also gives bolstered and the Bastions innate ability to give bolstered to allies And then their base culture spell strips all the bolstered off for fortune and strengthen.
Bastions hitting 40 points A HIT, with double the retaliations.... and thats before you enchant them with aspect of the root (which single handedly makes these guys unkillable) or any of the other of the enchantment buff options you could go.
It is literally the free-est wins you will ever have on brutal difficulty.
@@OmegaPuddle i havent even played industrious yet. I only really played mystics once theres so much replayability in this damn game!
I'm def gonna try wolves with the industrious tho, i already had that thought that wolves would be good for them.
@@MYPSYAI The only downside, (for some) is that the auto resolve AI tends to be a little braindead and use the wolf howl ability for like 10 dmg rather than 1 shotting them with 120 on basic. It also uses its aspect of the root ability at full health randomly.
And doesnt understand how to combo the spells. So it can actually be hit or miss sometimes on auto resolve.
Personally I don't mind just retrying the fights whereas some might get frustrated at slowing down their game.
@@OmegaPuddle i like to play the battles but i just do all the important stuff then click the auto button. when the enemy turn begins i click it again to get control for the next round. i feel like im missing half the game if i auto res, and i get like 10x better results. Just for example i watched a battle and ai cast fury of the horde 2x, when i played it at the same point i had cast it 5x, and had the full buff. no wonder we lost - you gotta at least guide it
Hey!! That slow movement debuff doesn't have to be that bad when you have an army with slower units already. Don't know if its the case for AoW4, but in AoW3 the army movement speed on the map was the movement of the slowest unit. In combat it we be slower, but on the map it might not be that bad after all. And 3 def in combat might make up for that slower movement.

When you're floating a lot of gold you should consider spending it on hurrying production of either structures or units. Prospecting is such a huge early game boost because of that extra income.
Also, that location with the mana node is occupied so you're not benefitting from it. Apparently the node has some invisible units on it.
