It seems we have similar feet, foot problems, and solutions. My heel lift takes place in Garmont Excursion boots. (I like the boots, though, and am sorry they are no longer available.) I've had good results taping my inner lower ankle area with 3M plastic micropore tape, but I might try your recommended product next time around. I used duct tape in the past, which worked very well, but left my ankles disgustingly sticky for days. I just got down today from a tour near Bear Lake, in Utah, and an hour or two into it my left ankle abrasion area started hurting for no obvious reason. I removed the liner sock and skied the rest of the day with just a heavy wool sock, and everything was fine. My experience is that it is always best to do something, anything, immediately--rather than just continue and hope the initially trivial pain will go away, or it will be easier to fix once you arrive at some destination, or whatever. Often a pretty minor change will make things better.

Great advice. I'm often guilty of not listening to my feet and you are right, ignoring the problem will just make things worse in the end. Something as simple as just switching socks from one foot to the other and readjusting the boot lacing or buckle tension might help if you catch the problem early on. Thanks for the feedback and I hope you had a marvelous ski today.

After trying your advice and experimenting with various blister prevention ideas on several long days I have come up with a solution. The only combination that works for me is to tape up my heels with Johnson & Johnson Water Block tape and then use the eZeefit antiblister socks you mentioned. To date I've had zero blisters! Thank you so much Tom for your thoughts

I was just looking for a solution to my heel blisters from breaking in my Alfa Vista boots. I haven't had these in while I used to put tincture of benzoin on my heels to toughen them up and hten baby powder over it. I'm going to try a few of your tricks first but I wanted to share this solution as well.

Another 3M tape I have had good success with for blister prevention. 3M Medipore, sticks well, allows the area to breath also.

I'll have to look into the Meidpore to see how it differs from the Micropore. Thanks for the feedback and for tuning in.

@@tomm9850 For me, it is a tape that the adhesive doesn't cause irritation also.

Wow, that was super helpful! Thank you for sharing the expert advice of a seasoned skier like yourself. I started low-angle touring this year as I found myself living in a new and snowy country (Canada!), and in the process of buying 3 pin boots I went through every available pair of Fischer and Alpinas to no avail, toe pinch on all. Fortunately Rossignols bend in the perfect place, but even my fairly soft and comfy BCX6 boots have a bit of a heel blister issue on one foot. Now I have a few solutions to try! I also find that, much like with bicycling, the first few outings are rough, but as a callous forms and pain tolerance is learned, the pain fades over the course of the season.

Finding the right boot can be an arduous task that is for sure. I hope you find a workable solution for blisters. Thanks for tuning in and for the feedback. Happy skiing.

@@tomm9850 Glad you liked my video. I bought some of those neoprene anti-blister socks you suggested and have used them a few times. No blisters yet! I need to take them on a longer tour before I claim victory. I also got some extra long voile straps to put around my boots under my gaitors. I think they help with the boot fit and give me additional support.

@Campfire Kodiak That is great news. I'm really curious about your experience with the anti-blister socks. Post an update when the season is over.
