The one Master Duel dev who made sure to program Exodia and Relay Soul into drawing is just crying watching this video. Finally, his work has been appreciated
I cannot actually believe they coded in that it would be a draw if you won with an alt wincon at the same time you lose from a condition like relay soul.
i mean they have to do that because if both players open exodia as their starting 5, or draw exodia off the same dark world dealings or something like that the official ruling is that it's a draw
@@brendancrowley3085 it is a programming thing, someone had to specifically ensure the code would react correctly when two wincons trigger at the same time
It’s not as hard to code as you think. Most likely there’s a counter for both players, if the count is 0 for both players game continues, if the count is 1 for one player, that player wins, if the count is 1 for both players, game draw. Relay soul is coded to add 1 to opponents count and Exodia adds 1 to player win count. The counts are checked after each action taken and both occurred within one action, so the computer checked and saw they both had 1 so draw. The problem is easy to solve, what’s important is being disciplined and organised to avoid making mistakes
Nothing will ever make me laugh more than when someone sets up a complicated hand/extra deck rip strategy and the opponent is playing Cubics or Dogmaticka.
4:11 I... and to think other online card games can glitch cards at utter random. I had one botch my ability to search cards in key turns on multiple occasions, but some nut actually coded this interaction to work in master duel exactly how i would expect it to. Hats off to them. 7:51 it's my boy 003! Deskbots are so great... 19:39 i actually really like when they do things like this, because it makes me go check the name, this is one of those hybridization of Classification pulls, that can happen with some monsters in the game, though i see it most with certain plant archetypes. Bufo for a kind of Toad, -licula as a modification of a species of pitcher plant. it's not the first or last time they've done this. 23:08 i have never seen someone pull that off in my life. well play- .... If I was in that Cubic player's position, I would have folded like a lawn chair when the double digit material zeus hit. Props to both players holy shit.
Cubic isn't going to actually be scared of zeus simply because most of the backrow has good grave effects, crimson nova is immune to zeus, and the smaller stuff either doesn't matter or only needs to be there for a moment to send something to grave.
People really were wondering what the fuck Konami was cooking for so many years before Master Duel came out and the fact that it's so resilient you have to try so hard to not even break it is a testament to how long they let that shit simmer for. If this was WotC made that shit would have crashed in MILLISECONDS.
I've used Relay Soul *WAY* too many times to not know *EXACTLY* how that first game was ending. The only thing that surprised me was that both animations didn't play. Also, that Boarbow player got what they deserved.
To explain why the first duel ends in a draw, the effect of Exodia to win the duel happens at the same time that the Relay Soul's effect that your opponent wins. Since both players technically win simultaneously, the duel ends in a draw.
Holy shit I had no idea the MD coders were this unfathomably goated, never would've guessed they had planned for an instant win state and an instant lose state to result in a draw, legit would've expected a game crash or smth
Someone has gotta do the exodia relay soul combo, but instead its using sumo dice games, and let the gods of chance dictate if a draw will occur or not
A month later, but: some in luke's chat were like "that's cheating, peaceful burial says you can't activate that card's effects". well actually Exodia's "effect text" is not an effect that activates but an alternative win condition, thus peaceful burial does not negate it. I actually asked this from my local yugioh judge aswell and he concurred this is indeed how it should play out.
OK! watched the first bit to see something i never knew about! gotta respect the mythbuster guy for wanting to test that. massive respect to them! it's both funny yet also just super interesting that, despite exodia's animation, relay soul would pair with it and thus end it in a tie. that's really damn cool
i played Magnetic Bagworm in Digibug before they got more support, as at the time I believe it was the only non-Digibug Level 3 Light Insect and sometimes I just needed another body, the few names they had weren't enough.
yep. i knew it was gonna end in a draw, no doubt i have already tried summoning holaktye while using one relay souled obelisk (along with the other 2 gods of course) if an effect that makes you win the duel collides with an effect that makes you lose the duel, it will end in a draw
No. They cant be considered leaving the field despite not on the field anymore. Thats why xyz materials csnt activate their floating effects if their clause is "If this card leaves the Field" than "If this card is sent to the Gy".
There must be separate values for winning and losing. If the game checks for win/loss and the same player achieves win+loss or two players achieve win+win or loss+loss the game registers a draw.
All time classic eppy-Mythbusting (begging to see more from this person), Mister Ghen playing all the old steal monsters and garbage machines Edit: ZZ's “plants” are also now proof that God has left us.
I don't understand how people are confused at how it works. Two Simultaneous conditions resolving at the same time. Those are conditions not effects. If A happens, B Must Happen, that is a condition. Exodia condition, have all 5 pieces in your hand you win the duel, Relay Soul Condition "if the monster leaves the field you lose the duel" Since A occured in both situation, B must happen in both. So you Win and Lose, at the same time. It's not exactly a draw, but that's the closest thing it can be referred to as. Something where this will not occur is an effect. Such as "If this card deals battle damage, draw a card" If A happens B must happen, that is also a condition. However if that monster deals the final blow the end game state is initated and the condition is no longer in effect because there is no longer a game state because the game is over. Conditions that create an End State will always interrupt resolving chains, and is one of the few time anything can interrupt a chain. So say for instance you have a chain link of 4, and on CL4 resolution Exodia is in hand with all 5 pieces, Exodia Win condition will interrupt the chain and end the game. There are a few other instances of when cards can interrupt chains, one of them being the Eldlixir Traps, their on summon effect will always interrupt chain resolution, because since they are trap monsters, their on summon effect is still considered part of their trap resolution effect. So for people that didn't know, in the event of popping a face up card with conquistador, you can use it like an MST to prevent the reolution of field spell and continuous effects.
i was shocked bout the first video n the other decks that managed to beat the meta's, btw i finally laugh so hard i almost lost my composer on my bed holding my laptop lol. Also we decks like this in ycs or internationals too.
Imagine successfully resolving Boarbow’s fucking useless 12 mat effect only to lose because your opponent is playing fucking Cubics.

They lost because they decided they wanted their opponent to go +6 after they resolved boarbow for literally no reason.

Crimson nova isn't effected by monsters with 3000 attack or lower so if he could get that on the field seemed like a sure win to me 🤷

Weird thing happened when you absorb a Relay Soul monster with Relinquished and link it off, it doesn’t cause the opponent to lose.
Do they go back to taking damage after the relinquished is linked off and the monster summoned off relay soul is sent to the graveyard?
Alright, I need a sub to somehow Relay Soul multiple times, give them all to their opponent, and then suck them all with Relinquished
