The one Master Duel dev who made sure to program Exodia and Relay Soul into drawing is just crying watching this video. Finally, his work has been appreciated

They lost because they decided they wanted their opponent to go +6 after they resolved boarbow for literally no reason.

I cannot actually believe they coded in that it would be a draw if you won with an alt wincon at the same time you lose from a condition like relay soul.
i mean they have to do that because if both players open exodia as their starting 5, or draw exodia off the same dark world dealings or something like that the official ruling is that it's a draw

It's not even a programming thing, instant-win conditions triggered at the same time.
@@brendancrowley3085 it is a programming thing, someone had to specifically ensure the code would react correctly when two wincons trigger at the same time
It’s not as hard to code as you think. Most likely there’s a counter for both players, if the count is 0 for both players game continues, if the count is 1 for one player, that player wins, if the count is 1 for both players, game draw. Relay soul is coded to add 1 to opponents count and Exodia adds 1 to player win count. The counts are checked after each action taken and both occurred within one action, so the computer checked and saw they both had 1 so draw.
The problem is easy to solve, what’s important is being disciplined and organised to avoid making mistakes

4:11 I... and to think other online card games can glitch cards at utter random. I had one botch my ability to search cards in key turns on multiple occasions, but some nut actually coded this interaction to work in master duel exactly how i would expect it to. Hats off to them.

Bufo for a kind of Toad, -licula as a modification of a species of pitcher plant. it's not the first or last time they've done this.

Crimson nova isn't effected by monsters with 3000 attack or lower so if he could get that on the field seemed like a sure win to me 🤷
Cubic isn't going to actually be scared of zeus simply because most of the backrow has good grave effects, crimson nova is immune to zeus, and the smaller stuff either doesn't matter or only needs to be there for a moment to send something to grave.

People really were wondering what the fuck Konami was cooking for so many years before Master Duel came out and the fact that it's so resilient you have to try so hard to not even break it is a testament to how long they let that shit simmer for. I've used Relay Soul *WAY* too many times to not know *EXACTLY* how that first game was ending. The only thing that surprised me was that both animations didn't play.
Also, that Boarbow player got what they deserved.

Weird thing happened when you absorb a Relay Soul monster with Relinquished and link it off, it doesn’t cause the opponent to lose.
Do they go back to taking damage after the relinquished is linked off and the monster summoned off relay soul is sent to the graveyard?
Alright, I need a sub to somehow Relay Soul multiple times, give them all to their opponent, and then suck them all with Relinquished

It doesn't make sense if you think in terms of YOU winning and losing but if you see it as your opponent loses AND you lose then it makes more sense
A month later, but: some in luke's chat were like "that's cheating, peaceful burial says you can't activate that card's effects". well actually Exodia's "effect text" is not an effect that activates but an alternative win condition, thus peaceful burial does not negate it. I actually asked this from my local yugioh judge aswell and he concurred this is indeed how it should play out.
If you use a relay soul monster for xyz summon, does it lose you the game?
No. They cant be considered leaving the field despite not on the field anymore. Thats why xyz materials csnt activate their floating effects if their clause is "If this card leaves the Field" than "If this card is sent to the Gy".

OK! watched the first bit to see something i never knew about! gotta respect the mythbuster guy for wanting to test that. massive respect to them! it's both funny yet also just super interesting that, despite exodia's animation, relay soul would pair with it and thus end it in a tie. that's really damn cool

i have already tried summoning holaktye while using one relay souled obelisk (along with the other 2 gods of course)
if an effect that makes you win the duel collides with an effect that makes you lose the duel, it will end in a draw
i played Magnetic Bagworm in Digibug before they got more support, as at the time I believe it was the only non-Digibug Level 3 Light Insect and sometimes I just needed another body, the few names they had weren't enough.

There must be separate values for winning and losing. If the game checks for win/loss and the same player achieves win+loss or two players achieve win+win or loss+loss the game registers a draw.
