    Truly enjoy your videos, watched the entire trip from NY to FL a few days ago, awesome adventure.
    As for this video: food for thought, iridium plugs cannot be gapped, why? It will damage the tip immediately, 22 years in the USCG as an engineer.

      I did read that. You can’t touch the electrode tip for that reason. Thanks!

    Have you noticed more corrosion having the boat in salt water full time versus being in almost fresh water on the hudson ? Love your videos !

      Yes! Matter of fact we just pulled the boat and every zinc is gone! Even the plate that used to last a couple years on the Hudson. That video will be out soon.

    Thank you!, I'm guessing this was the first time for these engines. How many hours? What is that silly line across the top of distributor? you put your finger on it at 0:54.

      I think it was at least the second plug change but probably original cap rotor and wires. The original spark plugs were different from factory. About 900 hours on motors. Those silly lines appear to be the electrical paths in the cap from the wires to the electrodes.

    You should always keep an extra set of belts on-board for long trips!

      I do have a spare set but these look in great shape even after 3 years+.

    Hi sorry for bothering you. It is the following: I had seen a video talking about the Mercuiser engine which was not above 3000 rpm when it was running, but if it was stopped it was above 3000 rpm. Could you tell me if you managed to overcome the same problem? And what is the procedure to be to make the same boat return to normal. I've already changed almost everything, even the electronic schematic of the other boat I put it in and I still wasn't successful, I don't know what to do anymore, please give me a tip!

    Really Appreciate this video. The Acrobats and tricks to access the outside plugs would have been of interest to this viewer, No Idea how to get to outside side of port engine here.

      Same boat? I just crawled in front of the motor and reached down the sides. Wasn’t easy. I found using old pillows or seat cushions to lay on make it bearable. You can also move the salon seats and remove the floor access panels for better access. I’ll be doing that for manifold replacements.

      @@AdventuresofHappyOurs I have the 2004 slightly smaller. Port looks the toughest. Marina quoted 4 Hours per engine

    How did you get to the hull side plugs? strictly by feel?

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the most part yes. Went easier than I thought but not very comfortable laying on back in bilge.

    You need to learn the firing order looking from the front of the motor the the right side should be 1357 left side will be 2468

      I’m dumb when it comes to that. So I just make sure it goes back the way it was. Lol
