I am so happy I discovered your class. I am 74 and have always loved ballet -- Now I can find balance, muscle strength, posture, energy, and confidence as I practice and repeat...practice and repeat. When I go to the grocery store tomorrow I'll be smiling and thinking, 'I'll bet I'm the only 74 year-old in this store who took a long and challenging ballet class yesterday!!' With love and appreciation to you!

I’m a dancer and I have to say, you’re an amazing teacher! Seriously, you explained everything perfectly, the terminology, how to prevent injuries by practicing good technique, all while making students feel comfortable about making mistakes and learning more about their bodies. Ballet creates such an awareness of the body, and it’s beautiful that it’s becoming available to everyone.🥰

I wanted to do ballet since I was small, but i never had the courage to do so ' cause of the way how my body looked and we didn't have the money either. Now a really good friend of mine dances ballet and I told her that I wanted to do so too and she is so supportive. Without her i wouldn't even have thought of doing want I wanted to do for so long. But now because of Covid I can't start classes and I still have to improve my flexibility 'cause i just started( not even a month ago) and i'm turning sixteen in 1/2 months. I wasn’t able to start classes this fall because I’m just not physically able to handle a strict schedule like that. This is amazing because I can do a class whenever I’m feeling up to it. After finishing this video, my body feels so great! I really think I needed to go back to the basics and start from scratch because my technique had been lacking so much. I love that you do a light workout and stretch at the end, it will definitely help with my procrastination. I’ve been feeling really discouraged lately and you have no idea how great this made me feel! I am so excited to do more of these classes!!!

Thank you so much for this class. I am 65 years old, always wanted to dance, and took my very first adult beginner class last Saturday. It was advertised as for the absolute beginner as well as the ongoing beginner students.
Between the Zoom challenges of a live streaming class, and my lack of a ballet barre/terminology, it was a near disaster (not mention being called out by the teacher for stopping because I had no idea what I was doing).
I am determined, and will be doing your class several times before next Saturday. You are lifesaver! (Ordered a ballet barre from Amazon...should be here by Friday.)

That's awful that you got called out like that, it shouldn't have even happened at all! That ballet teacher shouldn't even be teaching if she cannot even be supportive of everyone in the room at all. I'm gonna call that very bad sportsmanship! (Even if it might not be considered a term in ballet, but dance is a sport as well so I think it should be included with this as well). When I took Tennis for the first time in High School, we were going against each other, 1 team of maybe 10 girls against the other 10 and my team lost. Due to frustration I lost my cool and threw my tennis racket down at the ground. The teacher called me out in front of everyone for showing bad sportsmanship and made me do a little punishment for it. It was maybe a little bit embarrassing but I learned my lesson and understood that it can be very negative behavior not only towards myself but to my teammates as well! I appreciate that teacher so much and appreciate her for her expertise and fairness. Wish you could have known that and called your teacher out for bad sportsmanship right then and there, because it should have never happened. A professional teacher will never show bad sportsmanship like that no matter the sport. I hope that in the future she treats you with the same respect you treat her with. If she does it again, please don't hesitate for calling her out and telling her she's doing bad sportsmanship and you can maybe even add the line, "you maybe the professional ballet teacher over me but I can be your professional teacher in good sportsmanship" and if she says or anyone says ballet isn't a sport you can say, "I'll stop you right there, ballet is a form of dance which is a physical movement of the body therefore making it a sport." I hope you read my message and that I can help you stick up for your rights! :) you should never be humiliated. Even if you don't take it as humiliation at all, it should have still never happened. I just really want to help you out when it comes to people like that.

Thank you. I quit ballet when I was younger and regretted it as I grew older. I'm 18 now and always wondered how good I would be if I never stopped. I always felt like it was just too late and that I was too different to be apart of something so beautiful. But I've realized I only live once. This video helped me feel inspired to learn because I'm still young and it's never too late. I can't wait to keep learning through these lessons with you as my teacher

you're so sweet! thank you. I used to do ballet when I was a little girl but then something happened to me hours before the final year dance. I danced and everything... but since then I stopped taking classes. I have gone to some classes as an adult but they were too harsh and fast. I was not in tune with the teacher I believe. I needed something more loving, with the singing of the movements and everything as you do it!
Even more than to dance, this is to heal ♥

I'm 44. My wife recommended I try the barre about 3 years ago because as I was getting older, despite continuing to do judo (from my teens!) I wasn't as flexible anymore. Being stiff in a fighting sport, one can very easily get injured so I tried the first 10 minutes at the barre for a couple of months and it worked. She then recommended I stay for the entire class. I'm the only male and the only person not actually a lifelong dancer so I was incredibly nervous but tried it anyway. I couldn't follow the routines and on the floor, I looked like a bear getting ready to attack the dancers on either side of me. I felt ridiculous! But kept at it. Now I'm...better... for a guy who started in his forties. It's a shame I discovered so late in life how much the discipline of ballet could improve other physical activities because it's really improved my judo but ballet is special in its own right. I'm still doing it 3 days a week with my wife's class and loving it! I love how it makes me feel in control of my whole body! My balance, breathing and overall posture have improved, it's vastly improved my "uchi mata" (basically, imagine using the extended leg of your arabesque to help you throw someone over your hip!), and it actually makes me feel calm! Had I known anything about ballet as a younger man I would have tried it then. But you can't control the past, you only have agency over what you do from here on in and I love the challenge.

I just want to say THANK YOU so so so much! Yesterday, I finally got to take part of my biggest dream and go to my first official ballet lesson here in Munich, Germany. I thought i signed up for the beginners class and mistakenly signed up for an experienced class. The first 30 minutes of the 2 hour class, I wanted to run out of the class go home and cry on my bed. I sweat, i felt embarrassed and shocked. The only thing that kept me planted firmly there and going was my knowledge i picked up over many days of doing this video over and over at home the past 2 years for fun. At the end of the 2 hours many ballerinas came up to me and said despite it being my first class, it was great I stayed and i should never be worried as we all had to start somewhere. The absolute beginner class i found out take place on wednesdays and im so excited!!!

Thank you for this! I did ballet in my elementary-high school years and got up to dancing en pointe, but that was about 15 years ago! So although I remember a lot of the terminology and still have a lot of muscle memory, strength- and flexibility-wise I'm basically a beginner again. Those eleves and releves at the end kicked my butt! lol Like you mentioned, it's very difficult to find beginner classes for adults who just want to do it for fun/fitness and are not looking to go into it professionally, so this is really great. Also loved the chat and stretch at the end, it gave a very chill and friendly vibe. I'm looking forward to working through more of these, after I go through this one a few more times. Subscribed :)

I cannot emphasize how much of a gift this is. I have been thinking of starting ballet for years, but since I know the training can be intense, I always thought it was too large of a commitment I could make. I stumbled upon this video yesterday and I cannot tell you how delighted I felt looking through the videos on your channel, seeing all the lessons available so far. I often learn dances myself on youtube, but sometimes it can grow tiresome and tedious, and I can't seem to find the motivation to continue. Wow, such a great class! I am a previous dancer, in my early thirties now with very young children and completely out of shape. I have started to retrain at home after almost 5 years of immobility. Since I don't have the means to get to a proper dance class, I searched for something on TH-cam and came across your channel. Thank you for helping me to ignite the flame again. I feel my old friends, my muscles, working again and it is the most wonderful feeling. I am ALIVE! Thank you!
