Detailed, comprehensive and thorough review that is not only easy to follow it answer many questions specially for the first time Fiio M11 owners like me. Thank you for all your efforts in putting this review together it's very much appreciated.
Okay so I just bought an M11 and been using it for 2 days now. It's what I wished my Hiby R6 would've been. It's easy to live with. It has no heating issue, no output impedance issue, no Lame battery life, and no terrible wifi connectivity. Plus it sounds really good. Win win!
But it looks huge and heavy. Can you fit it comfortably inside your pockets and don't feel like you have a brick there? I would like something with these features but smaller...
How is the shuffle music option, I noticed my android phone music player sucks under the shuffle...ipod mastered the shuffle option if I had a 1000 songs Ipod would start from 1 and shuffle every song in the library until reaching 1000 songs while my android will repeat songs already played in shuffle 😑
Thanks for this review. I’m currently doing research before purchasing my first DAP. The M11 seems like it does everything I need it to do and I can probably find a decent price for a used one nowadays.
One thing I can tell you is stay away from the walkmans. I had the $350 model and that thing was horrible. Sound was good but that thing chugged and had bugs. I'm currently looking for a used fiio m11 myself
Got the M11 for 300$ on eBay. Let’s see what’s inside the box, once it arrives. Looking forward to portable music enjoyment. :) Those m11 plus models are soooo expensive :D But 300$ was worth the hype. hopefully 🙈 (owning the Sennheiser HD660S)
Is there a way to arrange a very large library with already arranged playlists on two cards? Arrange so the device can read a playlist that have tracks on both cards.
I just got my M11 on Friday. I absolutely love it! It is powerful and full of features and the built in audio player is action packed with features, but that EQ... Wow, does it suck! Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I put the lower three bands at +10dB and got almost no increase in bass. I have custom EQs for all my headphones and I didn't notice a way to save custom settings. I switched to USB DAC mode and used EQ APO through my PC and my headphones were back to sounding like the magical beasts I have been enjoying already so the hardware is fantastic! I downloaded some music players from the app store and they sound much better in the EQ department so I am using them for now. I tried that option to output everything as DSD and I really liked it. It made everything sound smoother and a touch more mellow (my IEMs are a bit bright so that was the main thing I picked up on). It also warned me that my battery life would be cut in half, so I turned it back off again. :) This review is the best one I have seen for this player. It is so comprehensive and hits on ALL the important points. I watched it before I decided to buy and again tonight. You've really nailed it on this one. Well done!

Thank you for such a comprehensive review. I am in the UK, and received my M11 two days ago. I am unable to obtain audio output via the USB C port. Via headphones, I find the sound quality to be very appealing with it's hint of warmth and a fairly wide, transparent sound stage. I don't know if the M11 needs to be 'run in' so these attributes may improve with time. Interesting to see the Calyx M. Connected to Oppo PM2 headphones I find it's amplifier to be far more powerful than that in the M11. In terms of sound quality there is still much that is appealing. I would like to see a professional comparison between it, and the M11.
You need an OTG cable to get audio from the USB out. What do you consider "more powerful" about the Calyx M? Is it because it seems to get louder, faster? It might have higher gain, but it has much lower power going by the specs. Unfortunately due to it being long discontinued, it is not practical to do a comparative review.
@@Currawong Thank you for your reply. I have both the M11, and the Calyx M, on their High Gain settings, and, with the Oppo PM2, the volume level is set much lower in it's range on the Calyx compared to that on the Fiio. Would the Class A output on the Calyx have a bearing? Is the need for an OTG cable specific to the M11, as I have not had a need for one using the USB C port on my Shanling M2s? AUG 15 2020 Is following problem reason to return and get __ what? New M111 player a week ago. Finally loading with all my files, uses to check it, the 3.5mm jack has poor quality control. Half of headphone and in ear/ear buds don't work on 1 or both channels. My best in ear is just new 1More quad and it is OK. Only one headphone I have, a Beyer with a 3.5 will work in it. Various earbuds I have and a Sennheiser will not, they do not make contact to get signal or only can get right side. Stroking the plug in and out will get some contact for split second. I read up on Fiio web site someone complained similar of no sound from it in 2019. Fiio poor response to check on use of proper jack, restart etc.
Question...had my M11 for months, thoroughly enjoy it....lately i notice volume/power drops off approx 3db, and will occasionally return to normal volume briefly (3-10 secs), then drop lower. Troubleshooting...eliminated the Oriolus BA300s i tether to it, cables, IEMs. Using 4.4mm balanced output. I use a Apple iphone cube power charger, would that over time fry any circuitry....? Seems like minimum voltage. Possible to have failed capacitors? If so, any advice?
Not only is my M11 unable to output Tidal over USB properly to my Hugo2, it then makes the whole unit behave erratically with the Fiio player app not playing files normally. If you then power off or try to reboot, the M11 won’t come back on for some time. This has only happened following trying to output Tidal over USB (replicated) - everything else works perfectly so I don’t think it can be my specific unit.
I wonder if anyone reading this can help... I'm trying to put my music onto an SD card for an M9. The Android file transfer always gets tripped up by an arbitrary file and stops transferring. When I try again, it says that it can't access the storage and closes down. Has anyone else had these issues with Android file transfer? I'm starting to wonder if this is the right player for physical storage music libraries, I can't really find much support for this use.
@@Currawong Thanks, I'll use that method. While you're here - are you a mac user with lots of physical files? If so do you have any advice on updating/syncing in a relatively painless way?
What I've been doing for a long time is using iTunes, then exporting a playlist of all the tracks that I have rated 3 stars or above into an M3U file. This you can do directly from iTunes. Then I use a script that runs rsync (in the terminal) to copy (sync) those files to a micro SD card, that reads directly from the M3U file. Other than that, there is also SyncMate which will copy music from iTunes.
@@Currawong that's a great tip! Might be just what I'm looking for, thank you. Last question - would you use a Samsung SD card? I've read some companies recommending Sandisk with their products, so wondering if that's why I'm experiencing issues.
I think that there are a few "good" brands, such as Sandisk, Samsung, LG, Silicon Power and Kingston (as well as the usual Sony & Toshiba). If you stick to those brands you should be OK. There is some info on FiiO's site about issues with certain brands or sizes. I don't recall the details.
I need this badly if phones ditch charge port I get this is not ideal for power hungry headphones but I can use a dac amp ifi diablo best dac amp to buy
@@Currawong Well since I carry a smartphone anyway. I think I know where I stand on that. You make great reviews by the way. Time to take over innerfidelity ;-)
I have the m11 plus ESS and just found a really weird issue -- anyone else come across this? For literally no reason (I promise! I'm real careful with it, no liquid comes within 10 feet of this thing) while I was listening to music one night it just started going haywire. It would switch around menus, screens, open apps, randomize inputs, and resist my own inputs. When I tried to minimize my music software (Tidal) it brought it back up again. When I paused a song, it would hit Play by itself. This continued for about a day and now it's fine again. I haven't seen anyone else talking about this, is it really that rare a glitch? Anyone know what might cause this?
Would you please tell me if M11 has an option to play a folder or a playlist in shuffle playing all the songs once without repetition?. I hate when shuffle repeats the same song in the same playlist or folder. Regards
Im picking mine up this weekend . CANT WAIT...I HAVE A TON OF MUSIC . This will be my first FiiO I had an ipod classic 260 gig and right before they discontinued it the rolled out an update that capped the volume level. Sold that fucker IMMEDIATELY . Ive been biding my time till something worthy of my music collection came out. Again..CANT WAIT !
Great Video. Can you help? I wish to use the M11 as a Wave File Player live at Gigs. There is no WAVE player i've found, that automatically PAUSES between songs in a Playlist! Can the M11 do this? If so, i'll definitely buy it. (Just don't want to spend $400 to find it's suftware functionality is no better than VLC, Winamp, PowerAmp, Windows Media Player, Apple's Music App or any other media player,,,that seems to have forgotten this function).- Thanks for listening. James.
It can't, as far as I know. That's a feature I wish someone would introduce. All the software you can get on the M11 and other FiiO DAPs you can get on any Android phone, so you don't need to buy the hardware to test the software. What you *could* do is contact FiiO and suggest this as a feature. Their CEO is even active on FB and Head-Fi.
Hi. May I know how does M11 compare with something like a Modi Multibit only in terms of their dac capabilities? Which of the two dacs is better sounding?
I'd be super keen to hear a comparison to the M11 Pro if you're able to get you hands on that (when it comes out). It will be awesome to see if they can get the same sort of price to performance ratio on a payer that might compete with the highest level stuff on quality.
I have the DP-X1a and just got the M11. UI on both is responsive (neither is laggy, even with large music collections) and both have lots of functionality and big, vibrant screens. Sound quality for both is high; I honestly think that you will see a much bigger difference between what headphones you are using than between these two DAPs. Both were super easy to set up out of the box, but the M11 has a few advantages. It very quickly scans all contents from both SD cards into one cohesive sound library (DP-X1a doesn’t). I’m using 2 x Samsung EVO 256gb micro SDs and it scanned 10,000+ flac files in a minute or two. You can really feel the extra speed of the 3GB RAM vs 2GB of the Onkyo. Probably because of this, the M11 boot up time is MUCH quicker. It also seems to have a better battery life so far. It does all of this while having appreciably more power for lower sensitivity/higher impedance headphones than the DP-X1a. On the high output setting/balanced 2.5mm input, the M11 will more adequately power the HiFiman HE-4xx, which is a low sensitivity planar magnetic headphone. The M11 also seems to drive the Philips X2 and B&W P7 with more authority and weight. Am about to try the Sennheiser HD58x (150 ohm) with the M11, and I expect that it will have no problem with them. The DP-X1a is a good player too, but the M11 seems more technologically advanced to me, even if I don’t use it for streaming or online music services. It’s strictly a DAP for my own music collection. So far I am very happy with the M11. It may be a small thing to some people, but an important thing to me that I really appreciate about it is the relatively quick boot-up time and non-laggy UI.
Hi all, Can someone recommend a portable HI-Res audio player that does support Tidal HI-res files? If yes, with the subscription would i be able to down load the files to the device? What would be the better performance Astell & Kern SR15 or Fiio M11? I have bowers and wilkins px headphones. If i got a HI-Res audio player ,whould I get the hi-res benifit with a HI Res player with my headphones through wireless/Bluetooth? Or would I have to use cable? Thanks.
TIDAL's files are not genuinely high-res. TIDAL HiFi is sufficient. I have about 50GB stored of TIDAL offline on the M11 on a micro SD card. My testing so far suggests that, at least with $3-4k headphones, that wired sound better, but I don't think the difference would be very noticeable with the B&W headphones, if at all.
Using the Pentacore balanced output with a HD 600, (in High gain mode + forced DSD upsampling) I don't see the point/need of an external amp like for the X7. Damn good unit for the price, super happy with mine using Qobuz Studio and the FIIO Music app. In term of improvements, If it could have additional DSP features like a maximizer/expander and a reverb.
I have a little doubt I am starting in the world of HI RES audio. I just bought a fiio m11 and I have some ATH-M50X audiotechnics. I would like to know the benefits of a balanced cable. If I buy a balanced cable of those that are twisted 4.4mm input for the fiio and 2.5mm input for the audiotechnics would I get more sound quality? I would like to know why balanced cable is expensive to see the real benefits. I apologize if my English is not correct I only speak Spanish I am translating.
I’m still using my AK120 from maybe 2014, battery is dead USB DAC doesn’t work and it doesn’t read SD card anymore. But I’ve not upgraded because I love the DAC chip it has. I stream and use DLNA and that’s it. I have no sense of the sound quality from this video other than there is a hiss with IEMs, which I’ve heard from others who say it’s unlistenable as a result. Any way of getting rid of it? Firmware upgrades help? Think of it as a Walkman - it plays music. All the features make it sound like 20 lbs of shit in 5 lb sack. Half the price of an SR15, yet I’m still leaning towards it because I feel I can trust quality will be there. Where are the compromises with the M11?
IEMs have a varying degree of sensitivity (as do headphones). A couple of extremely sensitive IEMs will, using them with the M11, result in a bit of hiss. I didn't find it to be a problem with one pair (Campfire Audio Andromedas) but some people can't stand it. It should be noted that these IEMs are so sensitive that they will pick up hiss from even the best electronics out there. So unless you own one of that handful of pairs of IEMs, I doubt it would affect you. It's not something that firmware would change. Because, ideally, the output impedance has to be as low as possible, yet the design has to have enough power for full-sized headphones, it affects the noise level. The solution is something like the IEMatch adaptor, or an X7II or Q5S for which you can get lower power, lower noise amp modules. The AK120 used a Wolfson DAC. I'm not sure anything would sound quite like it did.
So do I. I caught a cold on the weekend, which screwed up my voice (which you can hear in parts of the video I shot today). If the massive thunderstorm coming tomorrow doesn't hang around, I'll try and shoot it.
Would you happen to know how to downgrade the firmware from 1.0.6 to the previous version? The EQ broke on me; doesn't consistently work. It's a weird bug. I tried factory reset, but that didn't fix it. It worked perfectly fine on 1.0.5 and below.
Not a phone, but more like an iPod. They use the same OS (Android) as most phones, but instead have a much bigger battery and much better electronics for audio. With a good pair of (wired) in-ear monitors or headphones, they sound much better than using a phone. If you want to store a LOT of music too, this one has two micro SD card slots.
The 4.4/2.5 uses different op amps to drive the headphones than the 3.5mm port so I would have to assume there will be some sound changes. I haven't listened to them enough yet and only put my full sized headphones in the 4.4mm port and my IEMs in the 3.5mm port. Check on the Fiio website for the M11 and there is a block diagram explaining the internal layout. It's a nice level of detail to explain what you can expect.
MWeston2 how do you get your headphones to use the balanced 4.4? A 4.4 to xlr adapter? Never really seen a 4.4 to dual 3.5 cord like my sundara would need
@@jownbey I have a 4.4 cable from my Z1R's but I have also made my own. I buy the parts from Ali Express and then just modify them. I bought a 4.4->MMC cable and then hacked off the MMC end to put Sennheiser plugs on to work with my HD800s. That saved me the trouble of trying to solder to those little ends in the connector. There are a bunch of third party companies that sell 4.4mm to 3.5mm as well but it was cheaper for me to make my own. I am forgetting the names but if you do a google search for headphone cables you can find them in your country. I remember one company: periaptcables.com/
Better still I reckon would be if FiiO created a dock for the M11. I don't think they are interested in making new desktop docks though, from comments I've seen on Head-Fi.
A FiiO L21 + RCA to 3.5mm adaptor (mono or stereo will work). Or you can ask a cable maker to make one for you, such as Moon Audio. It is possible to use the coax adaptor in the box with a male-to-male RCA adaptor and a mono RCA to 3.5mm TS adaptor. imgur.com/6uHpP7b
The M11 has a sufficiently low output impedance that the Andromedas will sound as they usually do out of most DAPs. It is only models like the original Hiby R6 that had a high enough output impedance that would cause changes to the sound.
@@Currawong wait, do you mean Hiby R6 gives a better synergy with Andro? Edit: for your reference, i love andro with airy sound. I have es100 with iematch. I love to pair it with 1 OI and High Iematch. That kind of sound i find for. Very detailed and not boomy bass.
I meant that most DAPs have a very low output impedance. Some DAPs, like the Hiby R6, have a high output impedance which can cause unintended changes to the sound as the Andromedas don't have a flat impedance.
Is this compatible with iTunes? I have used an iPod my entire life to play my music and it just broke tonight, so I was looking into Fiio as a company. My entire music library is on iTunes, so can I simply plug the M11 into my PC and just drag and drop all my iTunes music into it?
Hello, thanks for all your great content. I just bought the Ibasso DX220 with (amp9 tube amp) and am having problems with it hissing (waterfall sound) with my qdc anole vx. Do you have any ideas on how I can fix this? Gain setting did not make a difference and I get no hiss with the amp1. Thank you
Excellent review thx! You briefly showed a coax cable connecting the M11 to a chord mojo -- what's different about that vs the coax that comes with the chord mojo? How do I get one?
How are you connecting it? You have to set the M11 to coax output mode for it to work. You need to at least use the coax adaptor that comes with the M11 and a suitable cable to adapt that to work with the Mojo.
What do you consider "poor battery?". The specs on FiiO's web site seem to match up with experience. I don't have a problem with hiss, even with sensitive IEMs. Some people consider *any* hiss, even hiss that is completely drowned out by the music, to be a problem.
@@Currawong Why are some IEMs too sensitive? My kz as16 is sensitive when using bluetooth adapter but with cable works pretty fine. I had read at some commets that playing flacs made the battery last a lot lower? than the specs at the web
FLAC files are what most people who buy these players use. It's only DSD that would affect battery, or the DSD up-sampling i mentioned. Screen brightness will probably have the most effect on the battery anyway.
Why would you put cell phone capabilities on it? The essence of being a dedicated digital audio player will be gone. Please be familiat with the audio community
I have ordered the M11 and it 's waiting for me at the shop...but i am still hesitating with M11 Pro that i did not listen too and Shop is ok to change my order ...Let's flip a coin?
Thank you for yet another exceptional review in covering M11 comprehensively that by the way answered most of my quires and has now helped me make up my mind between R6 and M11 and based your recommendation I have decided to go with M11 that seems to tick all the boxes in better functionality more option and overall more capable and better value compare to R6 or R6Pro ambitious pricing that makes it out of reach for me specially with the current poor exchange rate between Australian dollars to Us Dollars
Hi Currawong, I need a help regarding a peculiar use case. Please make a video on it. Could you please install Hiby music app and give a try to dsd iso playback over LAN (not through DLNA, as DLNA does not support dsd iso). Please check for seek performance and stuttering issues. The native Fiio music player will not have Lan connectivity in its options, Fiio team has confirmed this. Streaming dsd iso/ dsdiff edit master over lan is my priority. Thank you so much!
I wonder what micro SD card you are using, because the album art is loading so slow on your M11. I use Sandisk Ultra and Extreme and my album art loads much faster (FW 1.0.5). The included protective cover on my M11 fits perfect, no dents or bends. Did you get an early review device?
Yes, it's an early review device. The covers on other FiiO DAPs in the past were fine, so i consider it a one-off. I hadn't thought about micro SD card and album art speed as I've never bought the more expensive cards just for music players. It makes sense though with newer and much faster players like the M11 that there could be that benefit.
There are too many to list. It works quite well using the balanced output with planar headphones. I'd suggest picking something that someone else with similar music tastes as you likes.
I have 2 over the ear headphones, the Sennheiser HD650 & HD800. Both are apparently 300ohm impedance & the M11 can crank the HD650's until it becomes too loud for me. The HD800's however, could not be driven as loud without noticeable distortion, just not enough power. I have an OPPO HA-1 headphone amp that can drive the HD800's to ear destroying levels!
the choice between DX160 and the M11, still within the 30 day period to change my mind, but seems like the DX160 will stay, even with one less Micro SD card, I had no problem installing the Google play store
Thank you for the review! I have a question about the battery. I believe an iBasso DAP had a user replaceable battery at one point in time. When the battery no longer takes a charge, can the M11 be sent back to FiiO to be replaced (for a price)? I realize that the cellphone industry has effectively done away with user replaceable batteries. Planned obsolescence? Or is it the endless pursuit for smaller devices by the manufacturers.
I finally buyed the M11 and I am very happy with it.What are your best IEM for acoustic music ( classic/ jaz/z traditional music/ contemporary music -mainly acoustic musics- pop and Funk ) I see you have Andromeda ? Fiio FH7 ? what are the others ? What IEM you prefer ?

Thanks for the review
Question...had my M11 for months, thoroughly enjoy it....lately i notice volume/power drops off approx 3db, and will occasionally return to normal volume briefly (3-10 secs), then drop lower. Troubleshooting...eliminated the Oriolus BA300s i tether to it, cables, IEMs. Using 4.4mm balanced output. I use a Apple iphone cube power charger, would that over time fry any circuitry....? Seems like minimum voltage.
Possible to have failed capacitors? If so, any advice?
Like this review. I just bought this however I am having trouble getting the as cards to show up. I doesn’t seem to recognize a 200mb or 1TB.
What a great review!! This is what I call objective, thanks!
Offline or online? If offline, where is TIDAL storing the music?
It’s not offline, but streamed.
See if you can't get someone to make you a custom coax cable to connect them. The USB output isn't bit perfect anyway.
The solution is to connect the SD card directly to your Mac.
I don't recall the details.
what is the battery life average when streaming music? (I use the youtube music app)
I need this badly if phones ditch charge port I get this is not ideal for power hungry headphones but I can use a dac amp ifi diablo best dac amp to buy
So, why this one, when I can get a have a ifi micro bl or mojo formy smartphone and for similar money, I dont really get it?
Some people want *one* device, not two, for playing music. Other people don't care about using a component stack.
This will be my first FiiO
I had an ipod classic 260 gig and right before they discontinued it the rolled out an update that capped the volume level.
Sold that fucker IMMEDIATELY .
Ive been biding my time till something worthy of my music collection came out.
Again..CANT WAIT !
Can you adjust the eq for Tidal. Or must the music file be local to work with the equaliser. I've found other daps fail here.
Can you load Amazon Music HD onto it and download files to be played offline with no internet connection later?
By any chance does anyone know how this compares to the venerable Pioneer XDP-300R?
how does this compare to pioneer xdp 300r or onkyo dp x1? thanks!
Good question. I don't have either unfortunately.
On the SQ part, which will be your choice between M11 & R6 Pro? Its gonna be my first DAP.
Yes. Me too. It gonnabe my first dap.
I wanna know too.
Would like to hear your honest and in-depth review of m11 vs dx220
Like too
Yeah a comparison video of the DX220 and M11 from someone other than BGGAR would be good.
Joeeeeneeeeelllll
Kidding aside, yep i we would like to hear someone who will elaborate the technicalities not just claiming that they sound the same
Using the Pentacore balanced output with a HD 600, (in High gain mode + forced DSD upsampling) I don't see the point/need of an external amp like for the X7.
My advice is this: Buy better headphones first.
@@Currawong But if there is a real difference? and which headphones do you recommend
Find someone who likes the same music you do, and see what headphones they use, and if they are within your budget.
Hi , where do I get the co axial cable from the one you used to connect to the mojo
Very good review. I Hope for the fh7 review to be out soon. Since we are just getting pre-order possobility in Poland.
Have you asked FiiO?
@@CurrawongFiio doesn't have support.
You'd have to find someone who is a guru regarding Android installations for that then I'm afraid.
Is it fast or does it suck like fiio X5 lll
I want somethin like this but more like an ipod classic with the click wheel and stuff but with the amp/dac of this guy
Idk, feeling nostalgic
Sooooo I'm new here and I have no idea what these magical devices are. Are they phones?
Not a phone, but more like an iPod. They use the same OS (Android) as most phones, but instead have a much bigger battery and much better electronics for audio. With a good pair of (wired) in-ear monitors or headphones, they sound much better than using a phone. If you want to store a LOT of music too, this one has two micro SD card slots.
is there a big difference between using the 4.4/2.5 connections and the 3.5? thanks
Only with full-sized headphones, where the maximum power output is lower from the 3.5mm. With most IEMs nothing significant.
@@MWeston2 thank you, I'll check it
MWeston2 how do you get your headphones to use the balanced 4.4?
Man, I hope they patch in a proper parametric EQ; really the only thing it's missing for me!
The problem for me is that all the connectivity is on the bottom the line out should come off the top for docking
Better still I reckon would be if FiiO created a dock for the M11. I don't think they are interested in making new desktop docks though, from comments I've seen on Head-Fi.
Hai i'm new to the dap sene and just got the M11 😃 but how do you get album art to work? Thanks
Most of the tracks have album art inside them. If they don't, I add it using iTunes or Tag&Rename.
@@Currawong thanks mate 😄 going to try tag&rename.
Would I see the difference with my earphones Fiio FH7 with Fiio M11, instead of my phone LG V30.
Hi Amos, could you advise the correct cable I would need to source to connect the M11 to a chord mojo please?
A FiiO L21 + RCA to 3.5mm adaptor (mono or stereo will work). Or you can ask a cable maker to make one for you, such as Moon Audio. It is possible to use the coax adaptor in the box with a male-to-male RCA adaptor and a mono RCA to 3.5mm TS adaptor. imgur.com/6uHpP7b
@@Currawong Thank you Amos you are a Star!
Hi currawong, do you have any experience M11 paired with CA Andro? What signature will they do?
@@Currawong ok i got it!!! Thank youuu
Como se puede instalar aplicaciones como el tunenl radio en el m11 con apk pure ??
If the app doesn't require the Google Play store to run, it'll install via APK Pure.
FIIO value is very very good.
You really get what you pay for and more! FIIO are the most fair company in all of HIFI I feel.
Hello, fiio m11 has no AAC in bluetooth ?
For sending or receiving? For sending, APTx or LDAC are better.
Is this compatible with iTunes?
I have used an iPod my entire life to play my music and it just broke tonight, so I was looking into Fiio as a company.
My entire music library is on iTunes, so can I simply plug the M11 into my PC and just drag and drop all my iTunes music into it?
It wont sync with iTunes. But you can copy all your music onto a micro SD card and put that in the M11.
@@Currawong Would you happen to know what music programs the M11 works with?
Not off the top of my head. I do know that SyncMate can sync music to it from iTunes playlists, but I haven't used it much.
Can I sideload the Playstore?
No need now, they updated the software to allow it to work without side-loading.
@@Currawong thanks for the answer!

Thank you
Can you explain more on digital Filters?
I could, but it is one of those topics that the more you know, the more confused and mislead you're likely to become.
Currawong please make a video about it by the way awesome video 👍
Excellent review thx! You briefly showed a coax cable connecting the M11 to a chord mojo -- what's different about that vs the coax that comes with the chord mojo? How do I get one?
I made it myself. Any competent cable maker should be able to make one for you.
So what’s different about your cable? I get audio in my headphones but nothing coming thru the chord mojo - am I missing something?
How are you connecting it? You have to set the M11 to coax output mode for it to work. You need to at least use the coax adaptor that comes with the M11 and a suitable cable to adapt that to work with the Mojo.
Now came out Q5s and i dont know that to buy...
Did you know that I reviewed the Q5s as well?
Great review!!!
Talk Talk, Johnny Mac/Paco/Al Di.
Good taste sir.
I'd love to buy it, but the poor battery and hiss / noise according to other video I've seen stepped me back. is that true?
@@Currawong Yes, that could be. DSD files aren't like ISO files? or what is its extension file?
I recommend that, if you don't know about DSD, not to bother with it. An ISO is just a disk image.
Does this DAP power the Tin P1 and P2s?
Of course.
Should i use an IEM or will it be powerful enough to drive my Sennheiser HD6XX?
It'll drive a HD6XX.
@@Currawong Is the 3.5mm okay or loud enough, or should I get a 4.4mm or a 2.5mm balanced cables?

No. It has zero mobile/cell capabilities.
Why would you put cell phone capabilities on it? The essence of being a dedicated digital audio player will be gone. Please be familiat with the audio community
Do you need a head amp with this?
No. It has quite a good one built in.
So does the m11 have a built in D. A. C ?
Well, if it didn't, you wouldn't be able to listen to music with it.
I have ordered the M11 and it 's waiting for me at the shop...but i am still hesitating with M11 Pro that i did not listen too and Shop is ok to change my order ...Let's flip a coin?
Question: is it required to have the 4.4mm terminal cable in order to get DSD format audio?
Weird question, but no. The 4.4mm output has nothing to do with DSD at all.

What are great headphones over the ear to use with this under $1000 ?
There are too many to list. It works quite well using the balanced output with planar headphones. I'd suggest picking something that someone else with similar music tastes as you likes.
I have 2 over the ear headphones, the Sennheiser HD650 & HD800. Both are apparently 300ohm impedance & the M11 can crank the HD650's until it becomes too loud for me. The HD800's however, could not be driven as loud without noticeable distortion, just not enough power. I have an OPPO HA-1 headphone amp that can drive the HD800's to ear destroying levels!
Thanks for the review. I have an X7ii with FH7 IEM's. Is it worth changing based purely on sonics?

Thank you for the review! I have a question about the battery. I believe an iBasso DAP had a user replaceable battery at one point in time. When the battery no longer takes a charge, can the M11 be sent back to FiiO to be replaced (for a price)? I realize that the cellphone industry has effectively done away with user replaceable batteries. Planned obsolescence? Or is it the endless pursuit for smaller devices by the manufacturers.
Have you considered asking FiiO? They have representatives on Head-Fi and their own forum.
