    This was super helpful... I do have a question, what/how do you add more fabric/pipping if the fabric you cut was too short? How do you get them to meet? Please demonstrate.

    This is fabulous! I'm re-upholstering a round stool and this is the first tutorial I've found that sews piping in to a seam, and done without the piping foot. Thanks so much, feel ready to tackle the sewing machine now :)

    A good question. The cord will either have a tape of sorts already attached, or, it would have to be hand sewn onto the project.

    It will work. It will all depend on the type of skirt your making whether it can be seen or not.

    It's always best to cut on the bias. If you want to learn how to join them together, I've filmed a tutorial entitled 'Joining and Sewing Ends of Piping Together'. Hope that helps.

    Hi- thx so much for your helpful video demo! I have a question- must you absolutly cut the fabric for the bias tape on the bias? I am short on fabric... Thanks! Also, joining the cut bias fabric to lengthen your piping? What is the correct way to join it? Thanks again!

    hi there! i really want to thank you for making this video and i'll definitely try it out, just a quick question though, i'm planning to sew on the piping on the side of the sleeve (from the neck to shoulder part all the way down the length of the arm) and i was wondering what type of cord i should use to reduce the buckling of the fabric when i bend my arm?

      Yamazaki Sousuke Try a polyester piping as the fibres are lighter and softer.

    Thanking you for showing us that you can do this with a zipper foot, I am trying to buy more feet for my sewing machine but if I don't have to add a cording foot and can use something else it will help me save money.

    Hi, great video. So useful. I have a question about your stitch length and whether it's a straight stitch (sorry if this is a repeat). Was it a straight stitch? It appeared a bit zigzaggy. Is it important to have a fairly small stitch length? Thank you.

    You are an excellent teacher you should teach the student in high fashion. I'm familiar what these text me however games and your review is absolutely riveting. If you had taught me this in school it would 'nt been so difficult. I'm going to listen to everything you post.     if i use piping on a baby blanket how would i close it once i flip it inside out? would i have to have a small piece with stitching showing on the outside?

      You can still follow this technique, and practice with a pointed collar until you get it right.

    It's always best to make sure you get the right length to start with. If you don't, I'm afraid you have to start over. I'll do you a video tutorial showing how to sew the piping together. Thanks for the question.

    How will that work on a hem? You'd see the band of bias under the skirt, wouldn't you? I'd love to try this but can't picture how it will work on just one piece of fabric.
