    I never thought I'd say this, but this guy actually made a hub sales pitch compelling. This looks like a convincing no-nonsense, high-quality product.

    The important question is, how loud does it sound?

    • @rollinrat4850
      @rollinrat4850 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want loud, remove all lube out of driver. Hehe! I know when my Kings get noisier its time to overhaul!

    From 90,000 cycles benchmark, Neo's has passed 200,000 cycles test without problem...that's what we call quality...I wonder what is the threshold of this product.

    They look nice. Where do bearings come from? I consider bearing quality 1st. The best hubs have angular contact. I consider buying American made 1st! Bearings from Germany and Japan are good too.

    The bearings failed in my Neo Ultimate hubs in less than 2 months. Stan's took care of the problem but I expected a better product on a $1,900 set of wheels.

      +nrsbaker i'm wonder every time i hear some problems like that of a top brand shimano competitors. I've got the same shimano xt hub or almost 6 years and i never got any problem. Ceramic bearings or cup and cone?! i got my answer

      +Jerome Jackson These hubs come stock on Stan's Bravo Wheelset. I own one of these wheelsets. Check the website.

      +locoshaggy Same goes for other equipment for your bike or something completely different. The problem is how you care about your machine and tools. thats how they can last long or just die instant. Some guys need replacement of the Bearings every half a year because they clean their bikes with pressure washer. You can clean your bike with it without problems but if you dont know how you will decrease drastically your bearings lifetime.
      but sure sometimes a expensive product who want to sell you performance and quality can fail. My bearings on the newest DT Swiss XMC 1200 SPLINE get also wrecked after one month , how do I get them? Simple some one just dont want them on his new ORBEA OCCAM and those DT Swiss wheel set cost alone is about $2700.

      also the tech put on the bike parts, and the materials quality, but for me shimano has the best relation price-quiality, in my opinion.

    None of the hubs was for straight pull spokes, does anyone knows why?

    • @williamkeys5701
      @williamkeys5701 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      because straight pull spokes are less common at your local bike shop. So many straight pull designs are wheel set specific it makes it hard on shops to keep parts in stock.

      As a mechanic and wheelbuilder straight pull sucks. You can get a j bend spoke at any shop in the world. (Today!!)
      Many straight pull or proprietary spokes ( and other parts)will have you waiting a week or more.

    What is "engagement?"

    • @v1ncen715
      @v1ncen715 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Taylor Harris The engagements refer to how often the pawls inside the hub contact the gear to engage the drive mechanism. see sg.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091215174157AArsEB7

      +Taylor Harris +v1nce n7 so, in other words, that means the slack between backpedalling and changing direction to normal pedaling correct?

    • @v1ncen715
      @v1ncen715 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is my understanding, yes.

    • @nl3712
      @nl3712 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      rcpbandlife yeah, my understanding too. On older/cheaper hubs, you can hear and feel the distinct KLUNK as the hub engages from freewheeling.
      Better hubs have more points of engagement, thereby eliminating the KLUNK.

    Says better than anything on the market... I laughed when he said that. This hub is comparable to hope. Nothing more. Chris king and industry 9 are way better that this by a LONG shot.

    Those neo ultimate hubs sound like the 💩! And those new cb7 carbon hoops look sweet too but damn tooooo pricey!

  • @m00nchildblues
    @m00nchildblues 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    "more durability than anything else out there" he says? Better than Hope or Chris King? Cmon' u can't be serious. Should be a total recall on these hubs due to LOTS of riders being stranded miles out due to cracked rear hubs! Why Stans is risking injury to riders w just a replacement def replacement and no recall? Hate to ride out with zero peace of mind on hubs. Well my trail only has a 2 mile radius so I don't mind the walk..

    • @nl3712
      @nl3712 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then they are a NO GO. I ride 5-12 miles just to get to the trails.

  • @charlesmansplaining
    @charlesmansplaining 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    That AVION carbon rim is to wide for the applications he mentioned and might I add cyclecross. The reasons are the same as for why the cyclecross world have not adopted tubeless tires over tubular. I'm not a big fan of Stans because they don't really have the R&D to back up the claims they make. I presently have a built up set of Grails with Industry 9 hubs and the rims seem cheap. They flex to much and dent easily.

  • @TheAllEngineering
    @TheAllEngineering 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    These hubs are absolute rubbish. DO NOT BUY THEM unless you want to be part of their R & D and have to pay for it. A few friends have had them and all have failed.
