Successful start and sustained idle

Runs beautifully. Going to tear down the combustion chamber and seal up some leaks we found, should increase efficiency and make it a little safer. I'll finish wiring in the new ignition system and test that as well as check into some guage issues I discovered today. Oil pressure gauge was not reading anything at first, but eventually began working. I'm thinking an air pocket was stuck in there somewhere and eventually worked its way through the system or maybe the guage itself was sticking. Also, one of the EGT guages just quit, so hopefully just a bad ground.

Fabulous, well done. It runs beautifully. I take it the pressure cylinder next to the propane bottle is CO2 for starting? Ah ok, edit, it isn't! I've just seen you using a leafblower.

We found out that the electric leaf blower didn't quite have the power to spool it up enough, so I hooked up a compressed air tank to get us up to idle speeds. We started it with propane and tried transitioning to diesel, but I don't think I had enough fuel pressure set before I killed the propane and the whole engine shut off. Trial by fire.

@@rocketman_mike Indeed. Excellent stuff. You are at the end of a path that I am just setting out on. I had thought of using compressed air start, from air stored in a bottle.

The compressed air impingement start works very well and it only costs me $6 to refill the tank. Haven't found out how many starts I can get from one fill yet.
