In our first video, we dive in on the Dwarfs. This video will stress the events leading up to the end times then a foray into the goings on of each race. We discuss the ultimate fates of Ungrim, Belegar, Thorgrim and the mighty White Dwarf, Grombrindal

I hate to do this but as an actual Fantasy dwarf trapped in humans Body I must. First of all, Queek just decapitates Belegar, it is not described in detail how, but he is literally the last dwarf standing in Karak eight peaks. He was surrounded by skaven battered wounded and tired. Then the surounding Skaven open up the circle to let Queek go in to finish the job. Next scene is just Queek lifting the Belegar's head and lots of skaven cheering. Then, the final battle of Queek and Thorgrim is not in Karak Eight Peaks. Queek leaves Karak eight peaks and besieges Karaz-a-Karak the dwarven capital. When Thorgrim sees that they are probably facing the doom of their race he decides to go all out and face the skaven horde OUTSIDE(this is actually very important) of Karaz-a-Karak and meet them on the open field. For this last stand purpose he decides to open the vaults and hand out rune weapons to every single dwarf.(this hadn't been done since the war of Vengance) Once outside and when the dwarfs see literally an endless horde of rats going all the way to the horizon they hesitate. But Thorgrim being a smart High king, starts reciting all the grudges the skaven are responsible for from the dammaz Kron. The dwarfs now on a vengance frenzy start hacking the rats to dust. Ikit Claw who is also present at the siege, tries to press a flank with his weapons, but is grudgingly repelled by a regiment of Irondrakes called the DRAKEWARDENS and procedes to flee. The dwarfs being on the rampage they are, start to push to much forward led by the high king himself. Queek seeing that the high king is about to be cut off decides to counterattack and try and kill Thorgrim. Just as he manages to cut him of his Everguard(The high kings personal bodyguard regiment of Hammerers), Josef Bugman and Ungrim arrive from some hidden passes with some slayers and bugman rangers respectively and start turning the tide. Queek seeing that the situation is changing again decides that this is the last chance to kill the high king himself. And now comes the good part! Thorgrim sees that Queek is about to come to him so he instructs his Thronebearers to put him down(YES HE GETS DOWN FROM THE THRONE TO FIGHT QUEEK), then the high king proceeds to walk towards Queek. Once face to face Queek brings dwarf Gouger down on Thorgrim, only to be met by the axe of Grimnir and broken to bits, Queek's second strike is simply smashed aside by a backhand of Thorgrims gauntlet(Badass right?) who then grabs Queek by the throat, pulls him from his feet and closer to him, choking him harder. He then cuts of clan mors banner form his back with the axe of grimnir and then simply snaps Queeks neck like a twig....he then presses for a moment further before letting the body drop to the ground lifeless. And as a final GRUDGE settling he stomps the body to a pulp and spits on it(no I'm not bullshitting). In my book(of grudges hahaha get it? sigh....) that is probably the most badass vengance kill in all End Times. Oh and when he returns to his throne he just casually splits a skaven assassin from collarbone to groin, who had tried to assassinate him. :)
my dear peluca!! you are very right in your second portion of this, and a lot of the detail i personally spared, BUT! you are wrong in the first portion.
They DO have a duel and it's detailed in pretty gritty glory in the book The Rise of the Horned Rat!
Oh, I thought you were just using the core End times lore books, they imply there they have a duel, but dont go into detail. Right about that you are sir! :)
A shame he couldn't do the same to the final assassin that shanked in in the back. :'(

Thorgrim is the High King for a reason :)
The way the Skaven were portrayed as utterly invincible was so, so bad. Managing to overrun Bretonnia, Tilea Estalia Border Princes, Cathay, Ind, Lustria, Nuln, every single dwarf hold simultaneously, blow up Morrslieb, and conveniently somehow ally with Chaos despite all this contradicting previous lore was painful.
Feels like a lot of Skaven fan service in End Times.

considering how fast rat breeds and how dangerous they are if they have intelligent and GUNS and seeing as how in the lore they have secret settlement under all the world it is actually "believeable" that they could overrun everything

Hadn't played Fantasy in like 10 years give or take when total warhammer came out... wanted to get right back into it, and whoops, what's this? they discontinued most of their stuff in order to make Sigmarines?... Yeah how about no, if I wanted space Marines I'd get 40K... I doubt I was the only person who wanted to get back into the tabletop only to get slapped in the face by End Times.
@@DainnGreywall I wasn't much of a TT, I had gotten some Dwarf and Lizardmen models, tried painting once but a hard hobby to keep up when you didn't exactly grow up with it. Total Warhammer renewed that interest a great deal and then I found out it had discontinued into Age of Sigmar. Worse was that I had really started to love Bretonnia and wanted to give them a try, but they were completely discontinued, so I skipped on it all, feeling the mood disappearing.
To me, I just pretend the endtimes never happened and just see the skaven and dwarves hurling insults at one another. Ah, good times.

say whatever you wish about the end times. But one thing I think we all can agree on, they did Ungrim Ironfist right. Standing against the hated foes of the dawi, becoming the incarnate of flames, breaking the siege of Karaz a Karak, coming to the aid of his allies, standing against the lord of the end times himself, and finally getting the best death a slayer could ask for , falling by a man that could equal gods and in his death throws reaping a toll of chaos warriors that only all the other heroes of warhammer fantasy combined could even hope to match. Well done slayer king, you have finally found your doom,.
For me Belegar being killed by anything normal sized is Blasphemy. I don't care how skilled of a duelist you are if you aren't taller than 8 feet and can't crush rock with your barefist then Belegar really shouldn't be dying to you.

Belegar was super tired and bleeding from an old wound. He was on his way out anyway, Queek just finished the job.
I cried. Dwarfs are the best and goodest race in the whole warhammer world.

I remember reading about the Dwarfs last stand and to me the most badass part was when Grombrindal ordered all Dwarfs to plant their standards. Just the most epic way of saying "we arent moving, this is our end." I choke up about it sometimes. Just what a way to go and i can't see the Dwarfs going out any other way.

ItalianSpartacus exactly. All grudges shall be fulfilled. All of Dwarfdom goes down in one poetically beautiful last stand. One of the moments in ET that i thought they nailed. How the Dwarfs go out.
Balthazar's death irks me too, a master of metal, gets stabbed in the back, why couldn't he have exploded while fighting greater demons or something. Vlad's was kind of cheesy but alright in the end, Belegar's was pretty good.
most of the character's death seemed, "oh what about this guy?" *adds sentence* "there you go, FIXED!"
End times do not exist, we are still in 8th edition XD

JBDougy 9217Q yes and no? The end times effectively “ended” the old fantasy setting that is described in the video. The Age of Sigmar continues the fantasy but it was a reboot of sorts, taking place long after the end times in a new world(s) with only a select few familiar faces being brought into the new world.
The series continues, but it has changed so much that this old lore is largely treated as mythology in the new series and is largely irrelevant.

@@italianspartacus that book on Khaine was absolutely tragic. It had nothing on the Sundering series. Malekith was made out to be a weak character n getting all other stuff done for him
It could actually have been an epic story, had the writers kept their cool. Epic last stands are always good, but not if everyone randomly gets to be a god. What they did to Malekith was just the worst. He should be on the anti-chaos side yes, but not like they wrote it, more in a "shit if I don't I'mma die but I still want to kill me some high elves while I'm at it" way. Both Malekith and Mannfred should have fought against chaos out of sheer self preservation and that should have been it. The Skaven wanting to basically blow up the world makes not much sense either. Isn't their main characteristic that they're cowards? These guys don't want to die unless someone forces them to...
The only character that actually got cooler because of the end times is Settra. That part was great.

And vlad, I was actually while not a fan per say, I liked the end times just fine, because the majority of my context was The vampire end times, where you get to see roherim style blood knight charges (with *grail knight* support.) Vlad recognised as an elector count, arkhan the black being baddass, Setra being Setra, and the last of the dead defending the last of the living as the world winks out... if you leave out Manfred being a prick, and assume the ritual literally just failed, (probably due to Feckless getting too pompous and assuming he can hold two entire winds of magic at once,) it reads way better.

What is your reference for Gotrek and Bugmans raising Grombrindal on the shield? In the Gotrek and Felix novel, Gotrek ended up entering into a chaos gate to stave off more deamons attempting to enter into the world, which would have been at the same time of the supposed last stand.

If I were to write an end for Belegar, I would've had him, Skaarsnik and Queek all fight in a three way battle as the mountain above them collapses as meteors rain from above. None of the rulers of Karak Eight Peaks would flee or back down and would fight till the bitter end.
Also I would've had Kendra and Thorgrim Ironhammer flee to a nearby hold with Thorgrim planning to retake his father's home.

Man Sparty, I just looked at the (now old) FW Chaos Dwarf models. Damn I wish I could play an entire armylist like that under the old pre AoS ruleset. That infernal, mechanized dwarf look is just the best thing ever. Not to mention the Sorcerer on Great Taurus. So freaking cool.

5/7 for Mention of Pogs sir! I have on my desk a Batmen Forever Slammer from when I was a kid I found in my old home. I had two but gave one to my bestfriend who keeps his on him basically all the time. Which make sense since it is shaped in a bat symbol and ya never know when you need to defend yourself or slam some Pogs! XTREME!!!!
I loved the video, i think i would have maybe appreciated just a little more detail though, specifically on a few pivotal moments. Namely the last stand itself, who was it against and were there any big moments in that scene? Your descriptions of the battles between Belegar and Queek, and Thorgrim and Queek were very good and made the story feel more alive and fleshed out, if you could do that just a little more I would adore these videos, especially since i kinda missed the whole End Times era of warhammer.
I'll be honest, I was going to flesh that out more in the Empire portion as it pertains more about Gelt, Franz and Averheim! I'm sorry I didn't really disclose that

Would love to see one about the high elves - specifically Anith Alar and his part in things if there's anything to be said about him.
Dwarves, Greenskins, and Alith Anar's portion of high elves are my favourite factions so far, but I don't know much about what happens to them.
the elves in general will be a part of their own super video and it'll probably be near the end. they have a SUPER convoluted story that retcons itself midway through.. it's really hard to follow hahaha

In AOS Gortrek isn't actually dead his essence is actually scattered from the conflict he got into with Vulcatrix and Vulcatrix exploded after being slain by Gortrek. He can still be revived if you gather all the pieces of his scattered essence called ur-gold, and that is an important part of the fyreslayer lore in AOS. For them and fyreslayer fans its about finding all the ur-gold scattered throughout the realms in order to revive Gortrek/Grimnir 2.0. So yeah don't worry Italian Gortrek isn't dead just scattered in the form of ur-gold.

Hey guys, in fact, Gotrek wasn't even Grimnir
According to Ghoulslayer, and the end of the last G&F book, Gotrek was sent by Grimnir in the Chaos Wastes, and the Chaos Realm, where he will find his destiny..... but he didn't. He spend a countless time "Killing demons and being killed" and finally walks back in Age of Sigmar where... he wants to kill every gods because they failed him and the dwarves. By the way, he hates the Fyreslayers because they look and act like Slayers but they can't even imagine what it's like (Gotrek is the last living slayer, and he's probably immortal, due to his Axe that Teclis identified as Grimnir's Axe which provides him immunity to magic and a growing lifetime. He also now have a powerful rune that he put into his chest so...). Oh, and he want to find Felix and has a PTSD because he wasn't here for the End Times, or die in it.

I know a lot of old timers hate the end times, but I and I know a few more newer people to the lore that kinda like it. Newer we were not so attached to the characters so watching them all die is less painful. But I kinda like the fact the good guys don't win this one and loose the world. It is like a story it has a start a middle and an end. Unlike when you get into 40k and the end is a large mystery both good in different ways.
There we’re also a dwarf army from zhufbar who rallied behind a rune smith named gottri hammerson who follow Ungrim to averheim and stay with Balthasar Gelt all the way to the end
Yeahhhh but that's just not as cool as Ungrim going tactical nuke!

Really like the lore videos but didn't Teclis wish for Malekith to absorb all the winds of magick thus making him an equal of the chaos gods/nagash? It all went wrong because of Morathi if I remember correctly.

Grimir is supposedly scattered throughout the realms. Gamesworkshop has announced that Gotrek will be reappearing in a new audio book series.
This is all going into the book.
why did the wind of metal leave Thorgrim?
Abarron Tun'Dashare from what ive read he technically refused it and it bound itself to the throne of power. After the great siege of Karaz-a-Karak the great rune of Grimnir i think shatters which according to dwarf myth, signals the end of the Dwarven race. So once thorgrim wins the siege. The rune shatters and the wind of metal leaves and binds itself to Balthasar Gelt.
Honestly, the end times get a bad rap for ruining the setting sure, but at the same time it has some very nice stylistic choices in how characters end. From the dwarfs holding ground , fighting to the last warrior to defend their ancient homeland. Louen standing in defense of a priestess and a holy shrine. Vlad sacrificing himself to free Isabela... Karl franz engaged in a duel as the world literally ends around him. It's very poetic and uplifting inside of a pretty dark setting.
GW writing is poor at the best of times, but this was god-awful.
How could they do this to the best race? Dwarves never cause unnecessary harm unless they are tricked or are threatened. This is such a sad thing to hear, especially what happened to Belegar Ironhammer.
Where do i can read about all races and their storyline?

Haven't read the end times for a long time, but wasn't Thorgrims last victory against headtaker in his capital? Where a skaven army so large that it would've been visible from space invaded the hold; Thorgrims genius in figuring out that the skaven had cracking dwarven holds to a science but are horrendous in defense, so he lead a charge out of the hold with all of his forces and smashed the greatest skaven tide to ever befall the WH world and killing quieck
Minus the whole"incarned of the winds" part, that was one epic war and I would like to think Thorgrim gave his last breath for that, before the assassination, which tbh was not that bad when you consider thats how a lot of great personalities meet their end(both in real world and WHFB)
I would actually recommend you do an overview of the end times storyline before doing the individual lord thing, because its super confusing for people who have no idea what actually happens during the main storyline and these single accounts do not help in painting an overarching story.
I think the end times would've worked IF the goal was not to kill the WHFB world but to continue the story, instead of being always stuck in the timeline right before the rise of archeon;kind of what Warmachine/Hordes do with their stories, moving it forward with character progression while giving players the option to always play previous version of the characters.

There were a ton of anti-climatic ends to big name heroes/characters in the End Times. I think at that point, Gamesworkshop was just ready to move on and took out so many named characters to make room for the new characters.

I love your lore videos. I would love to know the future of the Dawi after what is essentially the end of their original kingdom as a whole. Like i'm not savvy the table top, so if the ...what i'm assuming is coming out soon "9th addition" of the table top books which includes lore has dwarves in it, i'd love to know about them!

By the way can you explain me what the fuck was the point of creating Valten as a character since he died in end Times and Storm of Chaos just to make Karl incarnate of sigmar
dude that was SO infuriating. Storm of Chaos is way better for Valten, but it's more of a figurehead to rally the Empire behind since they all quibble with Franz all the time
MAn when it comes to high fantasy, few franchises that emerged post Tolkien truly did the genre justice, in terms of evolving it. I speak of course of the Forgotten realms that grew out of D&D, but also, and mainl, the Warhammer lore. Its a bit ismpler andthe world is a tad smaller and less complicated than the Forgotten Realms world, but still, that makes it easier to focus on action. I love dwarfs, and the whole new post end times thing is kinda...im torn...hmm...

I bought the three end times omnibus books and suffered through them. Very painful... the entire Doom of the Elves books were awful... AWFUL.
The rise of the horned rat and the fall of altdorf are the bright spots. The death of Belegar’s wife and son and their retainers was actually pretty emotional.
The rest of the stuff was just bad. I’m reading through some Tolkein to cleanse my pallet.

I actually don´t hate the end times.
Honestly, it seems more like people are angry at the fact that warhammer fantasy ended rather than how it ended. How it ended just becomes the focal point to legitimize the sense of audacity that fans felt.
End times has its share of issues, but claiming that all of the lore didn´t have issues of continuity also, is kinda silly tbh. There were many of oddities in the lore before, but it was pretty much just forgotten because people still had the ongoing story. I for one don´t get it. Everything ends and most things don´t end the way we want them to. So, why do we expect all these stories, games and books to end exactly like we want them too? Or even expect them to not end at all!? Which is even more crazy imo.
I am eagerly awaiting the return of WH fantasy though. I wonder what they will do with it in the future now.
On the topic of AoS, Age of Sigmar is great too!
The new books are really, REALLY good! I really love that GW is doing in AoS, they have done an awesome job´so far in AoS imo.
Settra's End-Times story was OK.
But from what I understand most of it happened off-screen anyway, so.

There were two things from the End Times I liked. The return of Nagash of course, and the Bretonnians riding to the Empire's rescue at Altdorf was undeniably epic.
Why must the end times be so damn stupid, instead of an epic battle the dwarfs just collapse,queek just dies and thorgrim gets stabbed in the back... this whole scenario is just so bad😂

We can pretend mannfred didnt go out of character and they would have closed the middenheim chaos portal sigmar was owning archaon so hard it would have ended chaos once again with sigmar back

I was playing dwarfs in the 90-00.
Made of iron and hard to beat.
What have they done to my proud dwarfs. Gets beaten by everyone.
So if GW was out of ideas they just throw in the skaven. Sad....very sad
I think the dwarfs are too stubborn to fall so easily
