What do you all think of the latch mechanic change being reverted? Any thoughts on why Alderon didn't announce this change? Let me know in the comments below! Edit: Remember, it’s okay if you have differing takes or opinions from other commenters about the latch changes, but please try to keep discussions civil!
As someone who is trying to learn to be a raptor main, I thought the latch=no damage was a good way to balance the scales, esp since they nerfed bleed so hard on the raptors, AND latched attacks do 50% less damage. So while many apex and mid tier players were panicking over it, the fact was it was still VERY difficult for 1-3 small raptors to kill even a mid size dino before it kills you. If they're rolling this back, I hope they give raptors some of their bleed back, cuz otherwise they're basically just flies to be squashed by everything else. Achillo is prob the only dino that was worth rolling it back on, since they're way more powerful than the two smaller raptors and rhamp
Alderon is VERY silent about why they make changes. They basically never explain why they buff/nerf/rework something, and as far as I know have never responded to questions regarding why they made a change they did. That's probably why they never made an announcement about reverting this change, they just seem to really hate explaining or even talking about changes they make in the game. As far as what I think about the change, it's for the best. They already made pouncing much stronger by making you have to hit a prompt to buck, bucking hardly drains any stamina from pounced dinos, and the removal of the no-pounce hides. I know that raptor mains hate it, and I feel you. But having every mid and apex-tier dino be able to be almost casually picked apart by pouncing raptors was extremely frustrating.
@@Stayfnay42 well I’m afraid I disagree from experience when 4 Achilles with raptor strike were nuking my health into oblivion and there was nothing I could do but waste stam they jump off and run away rinse repeat and I can do nothing I played raptor I was fine with taking damage as raptor you have to play smart
Rhamphorhynchus should be completely immune to all damage when latched, because lucky feather is completely useless if you're latched on during combat, which is pretty much what Rhamp is _meant_ to do. Raptors getting immunity is ridiculous, though, and it getting removed is awesome. All it did was make solo players unable to defend themselves against an even slightly competent solitary raptor.
Probably because they realized their mistake, lol. But this is a win. They have proven that they listen to their community. I love this game. God has certainly blessed us with this ☝️ ✝️
It made a bunch of people upset, latch is still completely viable without it, nothing should be completely invincable while pouncing. You just need to actually calculate where to pounce instead of poucing and spamming bite(which take 0 skill at all) then jumping off and regaining ur stam within 10 seconds of sitting. All dinos have weak spots. Just find those out and go for them and youll be just fine.
Perhaps they haven’t said anything yet because they’ve rolled it back for now, but will be replacing it with a different feature soon such as reduced damage when pounced.
they had already reduced damage inflicted by a latched dino by 50%. I do hope they give the raptors SOMETHING back tho, cuz right now they're so squishy (at least the little guys)
Well you’d think if they were just temporarily rolling it back, they’d communicate that to the player base OR at least reply to my bug report saying it’s a temp solution
Funny enough Now it seems raptors take dmg from ANYWHERE on the latched dino. Before the no dmg updated raptors could latch to the hips or back legs of a dino and not take dmg, however, now no matter what slot you latch to, you will take dmg. It happend with a lambeo and a maip(modded dino) so its not just a mod thing.
Maip could hit latched dinos from anywhere before this change occured. You could use tail attack to hit dinos on your hip and claw attack to hit ones on your chest.
