I met Steve only once. Late 86. He tolerated my couple of dumb questions to him very patiently, took them as seriously as you'd take anything. A guy really seeing people, and really responding. Grounded, I guess.
Had the great privilege of zoom chat with Steve for about 40 minutes. I was giddy for the first 10 odd & Steve sensed that & put me at ease. The mark of a great person he was, apart from his knowledge, was that he offered to do the zoom around midnight his time, to cater for the OS time difference. I wouldn’t have it considering he would’ve already had a long day in the studio. ..we settled for 7pm ish Chicago time…I’ll cherish this memory & blessed to meet him. What a great person 🖤🙏🏻
Steve was the best! Hell of a guy, gracious host and hilarious dude. Got to not only meet my hero but work with him. Class act and truly a one of a kind guy. Thank you for my entire musical world Steve! You are dearly missed! ❤ #thankyouSteveAlbini
Que homenaje más bonito!!!!!! Las canciones fueron increiblessss!!!!!! Dios bendiga a Steve Albini!!!!!! Gracias ELECTRICAL AUDIO por compartir esto!!!! Es hermoso!!!!! Thanks You ELECTRICAL AUDIO for Share this beautifull video!!!!!
Thank you for this. I was lucky enough to have a few interactions with Steve way back when... and I think the world will be unravelling his influence as an incredible engineer and a an incredibly solid human being for a long time to come. He didn't need to give me the time of day as a nobody teenager publishing a tiny fanzine, he didn't need to send us hand written letters with funny drawings on them, but he did. Also, changed the landscape of modern sound. RIP.
Very touching to see everyone saying such kind things about Steve. Never got to meet him but unanimously he sounds like a true class act. RIP to an audio legend.
If Sandburg's poem were a person, Steve's a top candidate. "Flinging magnetic curses amid the toil of piling job on job..." Loving it, and getting us all to love it. Ambassador for the city and to our souls. Thank you for everything.
Thank you so much for posting this, Team Electrical Audio. It’s so thoughtful of you, and lets those of us impacted by the man have a way of processing and grieving him. Much love and respect to y’all. ~Nico
I'm glad that Steve stopped being such a prick later in his life... Cuz man he was a prick. I met him maybe 15 years difference between and what a difference that time made. I think just generally seemed happier in his life... Or maybe he just got it out of his system.
@Cassius3745 the covid vaccine. little man decided that a tribute to Albini's musical legacy was a good opportunity to throw some political shit on this wall. Proper twat behavior...

He had that knack, he made you feel like you were just as important as anyone else he would ever talk to.

Wow. Thank you and love from Sydney
Thank you for posting this! Albini seemed like the exception to "don't meet your heroes" and it's nice to hear people say as much.
Awesome remembrance and music!

Class song choices!
Rest In Peace, Steve. (from a musician in his 60's, ex-Scotland >> Japan). God bless your family, and your close friends, too. xx
This is beautiful.

Thanks so much for this ❤️
what a nice group of sweet old people having fun.
Is there a trained archivist connected with Electrical and Steve's work?
I sadly never met him, but he seemed like a good man.

Of course Fred Armisen is there 😂
