While you focused more on Aoyama's potential for search and rescue heroism, I was surprised you didn't mention the fact that, for a seemingly self-absorbed character, he made an incredible selfless act to sacrifice his chances for Iida's sake. That act in itself made him more heroic and likable in my eyes.
Aoyama is anything but self-absorbed. All his attitude and act throughout the first months in the UA is his way to socialize and blend in. He feels like an outcast in the pool of talented and social kids in 1A, thus his wish to be equal with everyone. All the kids in 1A even Izuku (who we know has no friends prior UA) are seemingly so social and quickly become friends with each other in his eyes. He's observant, and he actually feels lonely because he has no close friends at all. Heck even Mineta is having a partner in crime in Kaminari. Koda is popular with girls thanks to his bunny. Aoyama is the only one left out of the class kids. He's actually selfless.
I swear to God had this been almost any other protagonist he would have tried to find some dumbass way to make sure everyone could pass the test. *_Deku ain't playing that game!_*
The Otaku Dragon Slayer True... i really liked the way that all the class passed. Although in terms of writing this wasnt the best choice but how it was done makes up for it. Power of friendship cliche was used but executed right. Rather than the characters getting random power boost and winning, they won by using their existing power in a combination to immobolize there enemies. Btw i am a manga reader and anyone upset with everyone passing... slight spoiler.. the one who will fail will be the least expected ones.

When it comes to failing the exam, Seiji Shshikura has no one to blame but himself. He could of easily passed the first test before he encountered Bakugo, Denki, and Kirishima but he arrogantly chose not to.
Chibi, i think that Aoyama feels inferior to others, not cuz he's weak, but because he's not able to adapt his body to his quirk, kinda like Izuku was struggling on his 1st days with One for All, but Izuku went through this cuz he was quirkless and he had to adapt to someone else's quirk with hard work and dedication, meanwhile Aoyama was born with a very bad weakness, the stomachaches and the laser leaks, and so it had a more negative impact on him who had to go through that complex ever since he was a little kid, even now having to depend on his support belt in order to use and control his quirk... Aoyama's belt is basically like a wheelchair for a kid that can't walk, that's how i see it and so his character makes me so emotional that even with all those limitations he still wants to be a hero, he wants to be like everyone else... he the best shinny boi out there.

Great video, sir. When the guy asked Midorya to cut him some slack, at the pause I was hoping he wouldn't "pull a Goku" and leave him be. Also, the teamwork aspect was done right, and although you mentioned Minetta's using his quirk, what made it more effective was Ojiro and others) knocking the students into his balls to immobilize them. Finally, Aoyama like it or not is our "Improbable MVP" of the entire series. He helped Midorya in season 1, he showed up against Mr. Compress to free Bakugou (temporarily) and Tokoyami in season 2, and in this arc his navel laser (and his self-sacrifice) allowed the rest of Class 1-A to advance in the exercise. Like him or not, you gotta give him his props.
I love how some quirks complement the character that have the quirk. Aoyama wanting to always stand out thus having a laser beam quirk, Bakugo having an explosive personality and quirk.
Aoyama and Mineta were the MVPs for Class 1-A in this part of the exam. Without those 2, it was most certain some of them wouldn't have passed the 1st exam.

It’s just like in real life, there will always be competition either getting a job, getting food or getting your wants etc, sometimes you have to crush other people chances/ideals so you can succeed in life is it messed up? Maybe but humans have been competing over many things since the dawn of time, sometimes it’s survival of the fittest in order to get what you want and humans had adapted and got used to it.
I think that Ariyama was not just a beacon. He did the ultimate sacrifice to eliminate himself for Ida to pass which is prove that he will be a great hero

I'm both really surprised and happy to see out of all people *AOYAMA* being the *considerate and self-sacrificial one* - he's clearly making some progress towards becoming a true hero in spirit and I like it - because honestly I hated Aoyama up until this point - loved this episode and I was truly relieved to the whole class pass

dicecop the thing about the manga, I think, that makes that scene what it is is the way it's drawn. It's drawn so intensely, it's like you can feel the movement and see it happening even though it's a still panel that has no animation whatsoever. It's the same case with shigaraki, where he just comes across more intimidating colorless and non-animated. the scene was still great to see with music and voice acting though. Kaminaris voice actor did really well
I love the whole theme of clashing ideals in this series and how your ideals and motives affect you and others. I think its my core reason for loving MHA. Thanks for this video chibi, it really helped me to reinforce that.
About Izuku destroying others ideals: I actually saw it in a whole different way. First the college analogy doesn’t make complete sense. In that scenario it is one person just completely trampling another person who was just trying to do their best. However in deku’s situation the point of the test is to take out another person. It’s unfair to say he is crushing another persons dreams just for doing what the test ask for. Second, what I took away from that scene is that deku finally sees himself just worthy as anyone else to become heroes. If it was the izuku we met at the very beginning he probably would have questioned whether he actually deserves to take another (possibly more worthy) persons chance away. But now after everything he’s been through, deku is finally confident in his ability to become a hero. Though we have differing opinions it was still really interesting to see your point of view on that scene 😄. Great video 👌

This was an unexpectedly beautiful episode that highlighted underused character but boy...the fact that he did not smile when he said that line at the end will just fuel the theories about him being a traitor. Overall, I feel like he was not happy because he, once again, failed to kinda stand out as individual. I still want Mineta to die though. And no, Deku beating him was not a wake up call, it just made him angrier. Him getting caught and caused All Might's retirement was a wake up call. We all know that he can beat Deku.

Yeah Izuku crushed their chances but it was a fair test. You can't be a sore loser. Each individual was given a chance to win and the best man won. That is the unfortunate way the world works. If everyone was a winner, no one would be. Izuku's actions aren't cruel, they are in the spirit of competition and he isn't given any other choice. I know that you aren't hating on Izuku but it comes off that way so I have to justify him in the comments so people don't have a negative opinion of him.
Trust me some people will take it as a kid with a powerful ability being heartless and crushing the dreams of other selfishly in order to achieve his own. My point is that Izuku understands the weak because he was there but he can't simply let go of what he wants in life especially after so many have tried to help him achieve his goals.
Exactly. Someone like Mustard would get butthurt and cry about how XYZ isn't "fair." but we have seen time and time again that the path to becoming a hero is not always there for everyone and not every kid begins at the same starting line.
People who don't like Izuku usually have these kinds of opinions: "Crybaby" "Doesn't deserve the quirk" "Not as badass as [insert extraordinary character]" Because they only love people who are badass from the start.
I personally think that Deku didn't stomp upon other peoples' dreams as much as it was the other people who failed in realizing their own dreams. Deku can't be responsible for everyone else who want's to become a her, when the spots for being a hero is limited. Then it's the system, and those who designed this system thought it was for the best for society. That's why I don't see a problem with it.
Also..the small convo between Deku and Bakugou was amazing. It shows how smart and how much Bakugou has grown. He has always been my favorite character and I have never once thought that he might become evil
I was straight up confused for a good 20 seconds when you mentioned that Mineta was not liked and it was because of the later things that happen, but then I remembered.
As a Bakugo Fan who has like him since the first chapter I remember all the hate he got. I was even going to drop the series early on because I thought after he lost to Izuku that he would fade into the background of the series and start becoming friends with him or something, but then that scene happened. All might came to console him after his lost and Bakugo said to all might that when he said he would not lose again he was talk to him to. I knew from that moment I had to keep reading to see what the mangaka would do with his character going forward.

Chiby said in other video that in BnHA there wasn't any cliché, and when there was one, it was used differently than in any other cliché. in this épisode during the fight with Kaminari, the "good guy" win, then it's the "bad guy" and then the "good guy" again with "just as planned". it's just a normal cliché every one in 1-A UA succeded and half of them were the last one to pass. normal cliché just like in any other serie. like I said, the épisode was good, but there is exactly the same cliché in this show like in any others
Mineta's quirk is super powerful. Those sticky balls don't lose their stick for a long time. Plus they're really strong, as we haven't seen them destroyed.
Competition against ones peers is a huge thing in Japanese culture. They're expected to outdo one another from a young age. Especially in the academic field. And you can see the same thing here. In order to get to your goal, you have to make sure other people don't. For the students who are on their third try in getting their provisional licenses, if they don't succeed this time that means it's probably over for them and that they just don't have what it takes to succeed in the Pro world. It's unfortunate and harsh, but that's just the way it is.
Another interesting thing I just thought of. A system that makes it really hard to become a hero could potentially breed more villains. What happens when people get their dreams of becoming a hero crushed. They could just turn on society and become a villain instead.
One of the best Mina ilustracion Horikoshi-sensei have done on the manga just love see that in anime, that beautiful smiling face and the perfect thums up to Aoyama is just perfect make me cry. Mina is the best girl in side and out side love her.
I think the last half of the episode was the best part of this half of the season so far. UA students are better when working together with the exception being quirks like half cold half hot since it's range is huge. Anyway. It's not the power of friendship it was the students learning and coming together using their talents as a whole. Individually most of the remaining class 1A could've been eliminated and they know it. But their realization that their strengths lie in teamwork helped them all pass. The sticky ball plus animal offensive was incredible and it showed. Aoyama said he wanted to stand out and once he shot the beam in the air class 1A had their rallying point back. They were together. Some people seem to think Mineta's quirk is weak even though it stopped All Might and trapped him to a concrete slab when he pretended to be a villain and attacked the class after the USJ during the special extra episode for the anime event fair or whatever. If everyone was a winner, no one would be. Izuku's actions aren't cruel, they are in the spirit of competition and he isn't given any other choice. I know that you aren't hating on Izuku but it comes off that way so I have to justify him in the comments so people don't have a negative opinion of him.

Trust me some people will take it as a kid with a powerful ability being heartless and crushing the dreams of other selfishly in order to achieve his own. My point is that Izuku understands the weak because he was there but he can't simply let go of what he wants in life especially after so many have tried to help him achieve his goals.

Someone like Mustard would get butthurt and cry about how XYZ isn't "fair." but we have seen time and time again that the path to becoming a hero is not always there for everyone and not every kid begins at the same starting line.
People who don't like Izuku usually have these kinds of opinions:
"Crybaby"
"Doesn't deserve the quirk"
"Not as badass as [insert extraordinary character]"
Because they only love people who are badass from the start.

That latest episode was really good
So you could say that Zero is the living proof of: if tape can't fix it, you are not using enough tape.
I personally think that Deku didn't stomp upon other peoples' dreams as much as it was the other people who failed in realizing their own dreams. Deku can't be responsible for everyone else who want's to become a her, when the spots for being a hero is limited. Then it's the system, and those who designed this system thought it was for the best for society. That's why I don't see a problem with it.
I just want more Gentle and La Brava.

Also..the small convo between Deku and Bakugou was amazing. It shows how smart and how much Bakugou has grown. He has always been my favorite character and I have never once thought that he might become evil

Mineta and I Can't Not Stop Twinkling are my some of my favorites. I think they bring lots of comic relief.
As a Bakugo Fan who has like him since the first chapter I remember all the hate he got. I was even going to drop the series early on because I thought after he lost to Izuku that he would fade into the background of the series and start becoming friends with him or something, but then that scene happened. All might came to console him after his lost and Bakugo said to all might that when he said he would not lose again he was talk to him to. I knew from that moment I had to keep reading to see what the mangaka would do with his character going forward.
i woke up this sunday with a new episode. watched it and now I'm ready to have breakfest. this show makes me like sundays

it's not at all a flaw, it's how exams work in real life too. Quality is more important than quantity.

in this épisode during the fight with Kaminari, the "good guy" win, then it's the "bad guy" and then the "good guy" again with "just as planned". it's just a normal cliché
every one in 1-A UA succeded and half of them were the last one to pass. normal cliché just like in any other serie.
like I said, the épisode was good, but there is exactly the same cliché in this show like in any others
Mineta's quirk is super powerful. Those sticky balls don't lose their stick for a long time. Plus they're really strong, as we haven't seen them destroyed.

Competition against ones peers is a huge thing in Japanese culture. They're expected to outdo one another from a young age. Especially in the academic field. And you can see the same thing here. In order to get to your goal, you have to make sure other people don't.
For the students who are on their third try in getting their provisional licenses, if they don't succeed this time that means it's probably over for them and that they just don't have what it takes to succeed in the Pro world. It's unfortunate and harsh, but that's just the way it is.
Another interesting thing I just thought of. A system that makes it really hard to become a hero could potentially breed more villains. What happens when people get their dreams of becoming a hero crushed. They could just turn on society and become a villain instead.
It is the best way to start your Saturday :3

I think the last half of the episode was the best part of this half of the season so far. UA students are better when working together with the exception being quirks like half cold half hot since it's range is huge. Anyway. It's not the power of friendship it was the students learning and coming together using their talents as a whole. Individually most of the remaining class 1A could've been eliminated and they know it. But their realization that their strengths lie in teamwork helped them all pass. The sticky ball plus animal offensive was incredible and it showed. Aoyama said he wanted to stand out and once he shot the beam in the air class 1A had their rallying point back. They were together. Nice to see Hagakure fighting enemies with her quirk rather than just being invisible.
Some people seem to think Mineta's quirk is weak even though it stopped All Might and trapped him to a concrete slab when he pretended to be a villain and attacked the class after the USJ during the special extra episode for the anime event fair or whatever. If Mineta's quirk can stop the most powerful hero in the world then people need to start taking him more seriously.
