Thank you. The ideal width for shelf layouts is different for each. My layout is 2 feet deep at the yard and 1 foot at mainline shelfs. The length is 3 feet for the heavier shelfs and 5 feet for the lighter ones. Important for the deep, you must be able to reach the most distant area of the shelf.
@railworksdabest The C41-8W are OMI brass models. UP 9554 and 9555 were modified by GE during mid 1994 to burn natural gas, the two units never formally entered service. The natural gas program (actually called LNG, for Liquefied Natural Gas) was cancelled due to increased costs for LNG, and technical difficulties for the locomotives themselves; both GE units were placed in operation using diesel fuel. The SD9043MAC and the C60AC are OMI Brass too.
@TheAllgood07 UP had four tank cars converted to serve as LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) fuel tenders. The cars were numbered UPT 1 to UPT 4. These 30,000-gallon-capacity tender cars made by Process Engineering. The cars were 71 feet long and nearly 11 feet wide. The model is OMI brass.
UP always had the most interesting diesels especially their experimental ones!!! If i ever have the money I would love to get a hold of a set of those locomotives!!!
Superb! EXCELLENT videography that HD quality was incredible. I too was going to ask who manufactured the engines, but I saw where you answered that question already. Gorgeous weathering indeed! Thanks for sharing this terrific video!

Wow. Much better than mine. I have 8 Trees, and a 100" grass mat for scenery, 3 working locos, 1 broken one, 8 passenger cars, 7 freight cars, and 2 cabooses, spread out over three time periods. I only have about 15 - 20 feet of track. LOL! :)
The LNG tender was a part of a set of two brass C41-8W, sold by OMI.I bought it about ten years ago and I it`s sold out. Maybe you can find one at Ebay or an brass dealer.
I feel your pain, but I intend on making what little space that I have WORK for me, so I know what you're agonizing over. I hope that you're able to overcome your space issues, good luck to you!
the guys on yard jobs used to get to work early in the summer, as the LNG units were the only ones in the yard with AC....LOL....I learned quick, when it comes to yard engines, first come, first served...and in East LA in the middle of summer...oh, that ac was so sweet....the engines couldnt pull worth a shit, but I didnt care..I was niced and cool up there..... ;)
No, not everything. The signals are always controlled by computer and the locomotives always by the throttles. The switches are controlled by the throttle or pushbuttons or the computer. Some few switches are thrown manually.
What a beautiful layout and trains!! are the engines custome made,I love them they look so realistic.The yard is what I allways want but can have,it's this a home layout or a club, either way grat job. And yes make more videos plaese, I subscribing to your channel.
is that code 100 track? The reason I ask is that the height looks very realistic especially with the excellent weathering job. Code 83 is supposed to be closest to the scale size but I think it's too small.
here in az we have a radio station called "kiis" so when i saw that i thought it was some here in az...up to this point i have been a free lance modeler. i now am in the process of doing a proto type. since i live in az & am a bnsf fan, i am modeling bnsf's pevine sub. if you get a chance, check it out. your comment will be welcome thanks & again you have a great layout vinny aka bnsf6951
Whatever..the track work is great..handlaid is always better in looks and operation...but, and heres the butt....you need to get rid of that small hump I saw there...smooth it out...as an engineer for UP for 18 years...all those UP engines bring back a LOT of memories...and your right about the LNG units...they built an LNG charging staion in East L.A. but only ever used it for the LNG switchers...and they spent more time in the backshop than they did in the yard...BUT, LOL....
Pelle's skills are based on meticulous research.I literally saw him in Mojave,Ca taking measurements of the Denny's with a tape measure and foot long wooden measuring stick.Then a few months later his article on building the very same Denny's appeared in Model Railroder! And the 18 wheeler truck I was driving was modeled passing it.And people wonder why I'm such a big fan! And you're modeling skills,sir, are up at the same level!

So detailed! I can't believe how much work you have put in to this layout!
such a great looking layout. A lot of work and detail can be seen in this.This is the most real one I have yet to see...Great job.....
Lovely...just beautiful workmanship! Thanks! Great realistic looking layout!

At first i couldn't tell if it was a layout or the real thing. Great job!
Thank you. Yes I use superelevation. I thought first, it was too much, but now I like it.
Awesome layout, and vidio! Especally love how much detail those engines, and cars have. The weathering on them is great!
by far the best video i have ever seen. hopefully i get to see more of these really soon
Wow.

I wouldn't say you are miles away...it fooled me. Fantastic layout and models. I'll be looking for more videos of the layout in the future.

Thank you. Not all locos are brass, only the ones on the mixed freight
Outstanding work MrSwissengineer!!!
Wow! this is amazingly realistic. I thought at first that it was 1/48!

@retrainrun
Thank you. Some engines are custom painted and lettered and the layout is a home layout.
Now these are well tuned Locomotive's ! Excellent sound capture.
Thank you :-))
WOW very very nice engines and sound effects love the layout thanks for sharing
Great video man. i noticed you had the dynamics running on the UP widecabs.
I though this was real until i saw the toy truck in the background.great job :P
Wow great layout and detail
very nice,looking layout,makes me want to get back in the hobby in a hurry,but i don't have any space
Thank you. No, the layout is freelanced somewhere in the Sierra Nevada and the deserts of western US.
@miachevydude
The speakers are Railmaster, 8 Ohm Bass Reflex Speakers, 18mm x 53mm
VERY NICE ON THE APL TRAIN! IM running a 25 car APL Train my self :)
Cool Trains I liked your engine facility

You need to make some more videos...Nice Layout!!!
Far out! If there are more videos, I'm subscribing.

I bought these OMI models few years ago as the LNG set with the LNG fuel tender for about 1500$
All locomotives on the mixed freight train are OMI brass models.
Professionalism at work!
Awesome layout and motive power.
outstanding layout
Is this Pelle's layout? I love the super elevated curve! Nice video.
I think its great track! Looks very realistic
Man you banked the hell outta those curves!
I can see right through the grills on the diesel engines wow there so detailed. Could you tell us who made them?

Ya need ta make more videos! This is great!
@GRUBEDGAM1
There are two LifeLike SD60M`s, a Kato AC4400 and the last is an Overland SD60M.
Okay!
Enjoy your layout; it is pretty cool.
Love that fuel tender at the beginning!
I like the long,heavy trains and the massive locomotives in the wide open spaces and forests of western US.
Give me the Los Angeles Harbor RR!
Great layout and trains
Awesome trains and video, please make more!!! =)
Very sweet fuel tender. God bless!
Thank you
If I didn't know any better I would say that they are really trains nice and slow.....Very! Nice.
No I did not. My brass locos were bought from Caboose Hobbies, Sumpter Valley Depot or here in Switzerland.
I bought it several years ago here in Switzerland.
Great video.

Are those plastic or metal wheels on the cars?

nice video
@cflRailfan
Thank you. No, it`s not Pelle Søeborg`s layout. I`ts my own and I`m miles away from Pelle`s skills.
