😆❤ hey guys, I just watched your to dead reckoning cause I’m getting ready for when the part two comes out in theaters this year. What I particularly want to say is that I have been on a bit of a soapbox rants on binging versus weekly since fallout came out the TV show fallout. In regards to Mission impossible I just spent two days binging. The entire series and mission impossible is a binge worthy franchise if I had nothing else to do and plenty of time to sit and watch it definitely suits binging because of the pacing. The first three movies is kind of rough because it didn’t have a real flow for me but everything from fourth movie up to now reckoning part one it was like I did. The movie just kept going and I was not tired in anyway shape or form, and I watched it until late at night. so I feel in my opinion definitely sure shows or movies franchises are built for binging and others are just not they. They just have to be week to week.
One of the best pure action movies I have ever seen. I remember in the IMAX when Tom jumps off the cliff everyone in the theater (myself included) somehow managed to both scream and gasp at the same time. And the theme of A.I. in this movie is extremely relevant to today.
My gf saw the first 2 movies with me reluctantly, She is anti Tom Cruise for no really no logical reason, and yet we saw this in iMax and she said "that's how you do action movies" and was utterly excited to continue watching from #3 onwards. Talk about a MAJOR tone shift.
The AI theme is actually the part I didn't like in this movie, it's too overused as an antagonist and the term itself is overused nowadays, specially because I'm not anti-AI or whatever. Still an entertaining movie though.
@@darkceptor44 it’s why I prefer the terms used in Mass Effect which are VI and AI. A Virtual Intelligence is what we all see as present day more common place AI, but AI in that series is used to describe a true, independent, fully conscious and self aware digital entity.
Fun fact, the reason Rebecca Ferguson wore an eye patch in the desert sequence isn’t for some tactical reasons, it’s simply cuz she told director she can’t wink lol
- The Eye Patch was because the actress couldn't wink one eye to look through the gun site. True fact from an interview with director. - It took me a week to remember that it was a reunion between Cary Elwes and TomCruise because they were in Days of Thunder together - Chris Macquarrie said Jeremy Renner was meant to return but due to covid there were delays (I believe Hawkeye series filming got delayed) and they had to write him out. - The magic with the key reveal was a callback to the magic he did with the floppy disc in the first film..
I actually enjoyed this movie. So did my dad. Except he got mad when Ilysa got killed off. The car chase scene, my dad and I were screaming "stairs, stairs, stairs, stairs!" Can't wait for part 2
Love how this had so many homages to the previous movies. The Dutch tilts, close ups, the train scene & referring Luther’s nicknames The Net Ranger & Phineas Freak from the first film, the knife close to his face from part 2, the lens flares from part 3, the humor & sandstorm from Ghost Protocol, the close combat fighting from Rouge Nation & Fallout.
42:24 I love that during the cut, Ethan was so desperate he turned to Zola asking him to kill Gabriel, and Zola's not a dumbass either, he went for the gun on instinct...
I love the MIs. I always feel like I'm holding my breath the whole movie. Love my Benji, he was so stressed in this one poor thing. He needs several hugs. Side note, John and Michael kinda look like brothers😊. Loved the reaction guys.
Last time Michael was on, Greg was lacking sleep. I'm glad John is full energized for MI7. Nice of RR to have Omn1 back. I hope Omn1media channel gets some bumpin' love from the citizens of the Reject Nation.
I can't say this was one of my favorites but I still really enjoyed it. Really liked the callbacks to the first one (the extra focus on distrust and espionage, the foggy nighttime stuff, bringing back Kittridge, the magic tricks, the train scenes, and the Dutch angles all over) , which is honestly maybe my favorite after rewatching recently.
I have a theory that Gabriel is someone working for the entity that is wearing the face of Gabriel. And that’s part of the entity’s plan to unhinge Ethan.
One of the best films of the year so far and one of the best of the franchise. Amazing action, story and directing. Christopher deserves a Oscar nomination. This is The Infinity War Of Mission Impossible and i think The Next One Is The Endgame. Can't wait for Dead Reckoning Part II and hope Lawrence, Paula And Angela come back.
It’s at the bottom with #2 for me. I liked the action, but I’m pissed at what they did with Ilsa, pissed enough that I’ll probably never watch this one again.
@@WindupchronicI don’t think Ilsa dying is on the same level as the ridiculousness of M:I II. Granted, I think there’s fun to be had with even that, but at the very least Ilsa’s death is a risky move that we don’t actually know how it pays off or not yet.
“Dead reckoning” is a method of navigating or orienteering. You start from a known point and use precise measurements of distance and direction to get to your objective. You don’t use terrain association or GPS.
The magic trick of making things appear in the hands was also done in the first film with the disk with the NOC list. Another reference to the first Mission Impossible.
The man learns magic 21:08....but Ethan did the hand-is-quicker-than-the-eye magic in the first Mission Impossible in the '90's. Dead Reckoning has several salutes to several MI over the yrs. Love it. Can't wait for DRpart2.👍❤
Fun fact. They made her wear an eyepatch because for whatever reason, she wasn't able to lose one eye while looking through the the scope of the gun. Odd not to able to do that.
What I've read about Ethan's background with the villain in this film is that they actually filmed a scene showing what happened but they used de-aging tech and they felt that it wasn't convincing enough to use in the movie so they cut that scene. Maybe we'll see it in the next one because I'm sure they'll have time now to touch up the de-aging CGI. But we'll see.
Apparently Tom Cruise has something in his contracts about not allowing them to de age him, so if they do that flashback they’re gonna really need some good makeup
16:58 "That is the most perfect way I've ever heard this character described." I'm partial to Alec Baldwin's CIA Chief Hundley calling him "The Manifestation of Destiny", but this is also good.
9:42 John, your right. But it’s a callback to the original MI. Brian Del Palma often used lingering claustrophobic shots, many in Dutch angles. Check out the Untouchables stair shoot out scene
I watched “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning” at the theaters and I really really enjoyed it. This movie was great and it’s a proper action movie with great action sequences, a solid storyline and an amazing cast. I loved the whole action sequence in Italy, Venice and the final battle on the train was brilliant, including when Ethan jumped from the hill. And Tom Cruise just knows how to entertain the audience and never gets old as he just keeps doing crazy stunts and just keeps getting better as he ages👍🔥
Shared watch?! Well alright. I remember back in 2019. Paramount, Skydance and Cruise himself announced back to back sequels:part 7 for 2021 and part 8 for 2022. The pandemic pushing back everything. Production on Part 1 wrapping up, the first trailer dropping and announcing the beginning of the end to the franchise was exciting. This was definitely worth the wait. The story is brilliant, the cast is good and plenty of shockers. These action sequences are all incredible and steady keep you on the edge. Well constructed for Cruise to do his thing and other actors getting into the action as well. I did see this on IMAX and enjoyed every minute. Right now, this is one of the better films out among many failing blockbusters. Dead Reckoning Part Two was hallway through filming when the actors strike started. No telling how or when they'll start back up again.
I really liked Dead Reckoning Part One and I can't wait for Part 2. But Fallout is still my favorite. As much as I enjoyed it, I would've preferred they continued the story with The Apostles after Fallout, instead of an entirely new story and villains. I know they killed off Solomon Lane and John Lark in Fallout, but it would've been really cool if they survived or maybe someone takes Lane's place (maybe Gabriel?) to lead them, and Dead Reckoning Part One is the penultimate finale of Ethan Hunt and the IMF finally taking Lane and The Apostles down once and for all in Part 2. It would've been cool too if this AI (The Entity) was created by The Apostles as a final attempt to "dismantle the old world and bring forth a new one from the ashes." For me, Solomon Lane is easily the best MI villain. l loved how they built him and The Syndicate (then Apostles) up in Rogue Nation because although I didn't at all agree with their methods, I understood why they turned against their governments/agencies and wanted to bring the old world order down. They were forced to do so much harm for their governments/agencies only to be disavowed and cast aside. All that trauma of taking lives and likely destabilizing and breeding chaos around the world for the sake of the “greater good” or their own country’s interest takes a toll, until they finally lost faith in that system and snapped. It as very relatable because that’s what some intelligence agencies do in real life. It would’ve been cool to keep fleshing out that story because Lane, Lark, and The Syndicate/Apostles are basically the evil versions of Ethan and the IMF. They're what they would become if they really snapped, went rogue, and lost their moral compass. And as relevant as AI is, and as scary as The Entity was, it just didn't make for as compelling of a villain because it's a disembodied and intangible thing. For some reason, an AI villain was just a little far-fetched for me in this franchise. You can't really relate to or understand The Entity. It probably would've worked better as a weapon than an actual character. And while some of it was funny, I think the humor was a little too silly (given the situation) sometimes. ALSO, I was so bummed that they killed off Ilsa. I love her in these movies and her relationship with Ethan. I didn't want her to die.
I'm hoping she's not actually dead, that it's all some ruse so she can go deep undercover or something. Because if she is I'm going to be piiiiiiiiisssssed.
@@michaelriddick7116 I wouldn't have minded if she fell to a really deadly opponent, but as we saw later in the movie Ethan dealt with him comfortably. It's just so stupid for her to lose to such a mediocre foe.
Hunt couldn't have chosen a different guy. It HAD to be someone the people in that room would know, who had the right to be in that room while that meeting was taking place. It had to be someone Kittridge trusted completely. Tom only had one choice. This movie has one of them most intense cold opens ever. It's crazy how well it is done. I also love that Kittridge says I can't stay out of your way... because as the head of the CIA it's his job to go after Hunt. And he will. But, he's actually allowing Ethan to complete the mission even Kittridge knows must be done. He's a very cool and enigmatic character. SO glad they brought him back. He's a really amazing spy/bureaucrat character.
this is quite the different approach to the usual two person movie reaction of reel rejects but i LOVE it. You guys have been really popping off this year!
My heart broke when he killed Ilsa... she was my favourite character 😢 but she was brave till the very end. Also how is it that in every movie where they use these masks the mask machine brokes at one point😂 they should know and expect that by now😂 Fun fact: the only reason why Ilsa had the eye patch is that the actor couldn't just close one eye.... when she tried she was making funny faces😅 so they solved it by giving her an eye patch
This is genuinely the best mission impossible movie I have seen yet! My mom and I were on the edge of our seats the whole time when watching it in theatres, can’t wait for part 2!
Fun fact: eye patches were common among seafarers (ie pirates) because during a ship boarding, going down into the lower decks of a ship with little to no light with eyes that were used to being in the sun all the time, you wouldn’t be able to see anything as your eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness. It would be easy to walk into an ambush or a trap simply cause you couldn’t see them. So they would wear an eye patch that way one eye would already be ready to see in the dark, thus making clearing out the bowels of a ship faster and safer.
"dead reckoning" is a nautical term that basically means that they have a pretty good idea where they are, based on their last known position and some quick head math. Essentially it means 'approximately'.
When I was watching this in the theater, all I could think is that this does all the major franchises as well as, if not better than, those franchises. And "the entity" is a metaphor for streaming.
A mind reading, shape shifting incarnation of chaos is hands down the best character introduction ever. And that team is not a team of slouches either. The IMF just plays on a whole other level from pretty much everyone. Back on top of a train... except this time, they are actually on top of a train, on real tracks actually moving at 60mph. They built a train for this movie.
There was definitely more Brian Depalma in this than the previous 6. It felt like an homage, especially that first Kittridge scene. The angles mirror the scene in the restaurant from the first movie
I watched this film already, but Michael called to my attention the badass lady assassin was played by the actress of Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy. The fact Pom Klementieff's villainous portrayal here is vastly different from her protagonist role as Mantis had me confused. Plus, her thick French accent threw me off, as well as her tan.
I took my son to see this, and this is the first MI he's seen. Needless to say, I think he's a fan now. We plan on going to see part 2 this next summer. Hopefully, this SAG-AFTRA strike will be over soon so they can continue production.
46:11 It was such a heartbreaking experiencing seeing llsa die the way she did knowing she was fighting like hell to live and save her team, Ethan and the new girl; It was even more devastating seeing how driven ethan was trying to get to her and save her, you could feel the desperation in his running trying to prevent the mistakes of his past from repeating themselves and the infallible pain you see in his face knowing that he still fail even though he tried his damn best, hands down a powerful and well written scene!😔😘💯🔥👍
my review: I feel like there was some weird camera shots, and some weird extreme wide-shot scenes. almost felt panoramic at times. i didn't enjoy the car chase scene as much as i usually do. again i think the camera work was a bit off? we didn't get enough zoomed out shots, it felt very close to the face. which made me confused as to where we even were driving at times. i didn't feel like there were as many iconic moments, but it's seriously HARD to top rouge nation, and fallout!!! i did enjoy the AI villain. i loved how you couldn't stop it, and it was often just trolling you. i LOVED the train scenes. especially AFTER the drop, where they had to fight upwards be fore the next section would drop 🔥 I hate that my favorite character died. i missed more bengie action. I didn't feel as sucked in with the fall on the motorcycle BECAUSE of the shot. in fallout we were with him in the air. Here it filmed him from above, and only few seconds in the air and then boom, he was on the train. it was not as epic but a very very impressive stunt!! Tom Cruise NEVER disappoints. While this movie did not deliver as high as Fallout and Rouge nation for me personally, it is still better than most movies we ever get today. i loved it 💕
Love the collab reaction! A little awkward moment on the Titan Sub lol, but love the reactions as always. One of the best MI, gonna be hard to rate them all in order until we see part 2! Im sad we lost Ilsa, but happy we got Grace!
Dead reckoning: the process of calculating one's position, especially at sea, by estimating the direction and distance traveled rather than by using landmarks, astronomical observations, or electronic navigation methods. 👍
I enjoyed your reaction, very timely. I went to Okc on Friday with a friend to see the Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning. I had a great time, I’m very much a fan of the James Bond, Jason Bourne type of movies. The day after I watched your reaction on TH-cam. I’m a regular on Omn1media and it was fun to hear both of your comments! I became a follower to your channel! Great Job!
It’s can’t be that the makeup team etc didn’t notice that Alana’s eyes were a different color than Grace’s- it’s the same actress so they made the deliberate decision to make her wear contacts to change her eyes a different color. They had to have some reason whether it was just so the audience would know the difference or something else idk

51:10 I'd say he might already be on the team considering they showed a new recruit joining the IMF in the beginning
The guy that did the soundtrack for this movie definitely deserves an Oscar nod.
The banter between you guys is so good! loved your dynamic and all the references!
this is quite the different approach to the usual two person movie reaction of reel rejects but i LOVE it. You guys have been really popping off this year!
My heart broke when he killed Ilsa... she was my favourite character 😢 but she was brave till the very end.
Also how is it that in every movie where they use these masks the mask machine brokes at one point😂 they should know and expect that by now😂
Fun fact: the only reason why Ilsa had the eye patch is that the actor couldn't just close one eye.... when she tried she was making funny faces😅 so they solved it by giving her an eye patch
15:51 you missed Kittredge saying "of course" when he saw Ethan put his face on. 😂
I really think this might be my favorite Mission impossible movie, I love fallout but idk man this one goes hard
That Fast X cut scene had me fooled man😅.
28:11 Dead Reckoning Part 1 is what Dial Of The Destiny has to be.
10:55 i really appreciate that Psych reference John
Love this Mashup reaction!
This is a 🔥 collab. Big fan of both
"dead reckoning" is a nautical term that basically means that they have a pretty good idea where they are, based on their last known position and some quick head math. Essentially it means 'approximately'.
28:00 If you're wondering how fast John's wit is, this line says it all.
The Comedy thru actions was surprising and great in this movie especially during that car chase
Dude that sound cut when Ethan parachutes off the bike scared me so fucking much in the cinema
2 of my favourite men reacting to 1 of my favourite franchises , perfect!!!!
YOOOOO YALL GOT MY BOY OMNI ON HERE
21:17 that was a callback to the first movie, he did the same trick there. 😉
When I was watching this in the theater, all I could think is that this does all the major franchises as well as, if not better than, those franchises. And "the entity" is a metaphor for streaming.
Greatest action franchise ever
Oh man i love these two together cause they both explode in excitement
A mind reading, shape shifting incarnation of chaos is hands down the best character introduction ever. And that team is not a team of slouches either. The IMF just plays on a whole other level from pretty much everyone.
Back on top of a train... except this time, they are actually on top of a train, on real tracks actually moving at 60mph. They built a train for this movie.
I saw this in D-Box and the car chase felt like you were on a bumper carts ride! It was totally wild! Great reaction!
Anyone else just realize the random Italian dude that gets assaulted at 19:08 is the main of Equalizer 3? 😂 Dude is going places
I saw this film this summer in theaters,it was amazing
John had the second half of the key around his neck this entire time. If that is your "REEL" name....
Loved this movie...can't wait for next one
TBH Ithought the entity is trying to help Tom to destroy itself to prevent it being abused by humans and that’s why he used Gabriel to engage Ethan
@ReelRejects What's the heaphone with mic you using? So clean with good bass using any other tool for vocals?
Saw this for the third time in 4DX, can confirm the Rome sequence was an ORDEAL lol
He was doing the same magic trick in the first Mission movie with the disks.
Omn1 and John love it can’t wait I’m more here for Omn1 with the Rejects rather than the movie 😂❤
46:11 It was such a heartbreaking experiencing seeing llsa die the way she did knowing she was fighting like hell to live and save her team, Ethan and the new girl; It was even more devastating seeing how driven ethan was trying to get to her and save her, you could feel the desperation in his running trying to prevent the mistakes of his past from repeating themselves and the infallible pain you see in his face knowing that he still fail even though he tried his damn best, hands down a powerful and well written scene!😔😘💯🔥👍
my review: I feel like there was some weird camera shots, and some weird extreme wide-shot scenes. almost felt panoramic at times.
i didn't enjoy the car chase scene as much as i usually do. again i think the camera work was a bit off? we didn't get enough zoomed out shots, it felt very close to the face. which made me confused as to where we even were driving at times.
i didn't feel like there were as many iconic moments, but it's seriously HARD to top rouge nation, and fallout!!! i did enjoy the AI villain. i loved how you couldn't stop it, and it was often just trolling you. i LOVED the train scenes. especially AFTER the drop, where they had to fight upwards be fore the next section would drop 🔥
I hate that my favorite character died. i missed more bengie action.
While this movie did not deliver as high as Fallout and Rouge nation for me personally, it is still better than most movies we ever get today. i loved it 💕
The scene where the train falls of the bridge gave me Back To The Future 3 train crash flashback
This movie has the best car action I've ever seen.
Wasn’t Jeremy Renner injured when they started shooting?
I enjoyed your reaction, very timely. I went to Okc on Friday with a friend to see the Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning. I had a great time, I’m very much a fan of the James Bond, Jason Bourne type of movies. The day after I watched your reaction on TH-cam. I’m a regular on Omn1media and it was fun to hear both of your comments! I became a follower to your channel! Great Job!
This is awesome. I didn't think I'd ever get a collab with you guys and Omni! What an awesome surprise. Been a long time watcher of both channels!
loved this reaction, would defo be up for more cross over reactions
So many people say magic is a "new trick" for Ethan but it's not. He does it on the very first Mission Impossible movie.
Two of my favorite reactors! 😯
Soon as bro said Gabriel looks like several different actors I immediately thought Timothy Olyphant… then homie said what I thought.. wild 😂
For a sec I thought you had Paul Dano as your guest 😂
Anyways amazing movie!
