Furniture is terrible match for this gorgeous house. What a big disappointment. The inside has lost all character. Inside and outside totally different. A shame.

This is a beautiful house but the furniture , lighting fixtures and a lot of the modern touches just don’t fit. If you have modern taste then buy a modern house. I wouldn’t turn it down but if I had it anything modern looking would have to go.
They don’t build homes like this anymore. If you live in a subdivision of today, where your neighbor’s garage is ten feet away, where your find that the trim carpenter was the same guy that nailed the walls together, then you probably know what I’m talking about. Houses of today are crappy. The house in this video shows the glory of building houses decades ago. I call this one a helluva house. Thanks to anyone who showed this mansion.

Ok, i think you kinda over exaggerated on houses of today, but I do agree with you about houses from decades ago.
No you didn’t exaggerate. Houses in new subdivisions have no character at all and they all look the same. This is a home.
They also don’t steal the labor and wealth of serfs like this today.
Home is lovely but decor is much too modern for the house in my opinion. Seems like much of the period charm has been removed...too bad

Lovely home but while I love, repeat love modern decor, I don't love it here at all. Every historic home from anywhere in the world, in every possible architectural style that has remained original (or mostly) on the outside but has been gutted on the inside with modern everything is a total miss for me. I'm not saying that every last inch of the house has to be restored to a strictly period correct format but that should still be the over riding theme throughout any historic home, period.
Agree with you. Totally bland and unmemorable interiors. No attempt to harmonise exterior and interior.
Keeping true to the architectural feel of the home to preserve the history is a must in my book. I turn away immediately from homes which have been modernized as I prefer the aesthetics of the original manor to compliment my antique pieces. The few saving items were the claw foot tub and the original floors and windows.
What a pity! The interior home dont reflect in any way the exterior style.

So perfect and beautiful! Love the spaciousness of the rooms and the staircase. Reasonably priced, can be turned into a Bed & Breakfast easily.
Love the house but it doesn't exude cosiness at all am afraid to say. The decor is not cohesive and a little disconnected with the style of the house.

As a character home it falls a little short. However, in the right hands with a proper budget it could a real stunner. Thank goodness the staircase is intact because the home looks like all the beautiful old stuff we come to expect has been sadly and painstakingly removed.

Funnily enough even the French love to have mod-cons, no clutter and easy to maintain homes and not always live in the past. Life is not always a cliché

The real beauty of this house is the modesty it radiates. Despite being a high-end and most valuable abode, it all looks austere and effortless. If I could afford to buy this house, I would keep it the way it is now. I would only replace the art with my own pieces.

i've always wondered, what do french people think about foreigners buying property in france? especially houses such as this, which belonged to the same family for over a century, it must be weird for the french to see outsiders in properties with such local history
Why should the French be different to any other nation that embraces or tolerates immigration. People fly or 'sail' in and buy up property and the building industry is happy !

Love it. Blend of modern and old. Like the internal clean lines and neutral wall colours so you can dress it up with furniture. Always dislike those that think throwing tacky garish colours on walls is great - I was always taught keep the walls neutral and dress with furniture, cushions and drapes. Because they can be changed easily when your taste changes.
Interiors, bland. The co!our grey should be banned everywhere, so many other amazing colours to choose from

Strictly speaking this is not a chateau but a manoir. It is beautiful but so many of the original features have gone. I hope it was a rescue and that the original features were unsalvageable. That would also explain the modern vibe both with construction but with furniture and decor. Gorgeous but not what I’d want

The house is immaculate but the staging furnishings is so bland and sterile. It looks like a very nice bed and breakfast, not the magnificent Edwardian/Georgian (not sure which) Manor it is!
Finishes are cheap. Carpets on the first floor are terrible. Kitchen and dining are underwhelming. Entrance hallway tiles pattern is too small . Wainscoting does not go beyond second floor stairs. Where is the French Oak parquet floors?
Beautiful house with horrible Scandi interior, I hate how people don't respect the character and history of these old buildings. Be great to see the top floor and outbuildings.
For a North American, a ikea kitchen in a such beautiful provincial demeure is really how to destroy the house spirit.

Its a nice house, but the renovation destroyed too much of the old details. Plus the price seems a bit high considering. If you were near the beach or a major city, then maybe, but in the countryside? Much better for better money to be had.
