I didn't like Daisuke's high pitched scream at first either until I realized his control over it and how tightly it fits with what they're playing. They quickly went from shocking me, to becoming my favorite band because after 45 years I'm so tired of the same old bullshit of asshats thinking they're "hard" and feeding me shit I've heard 100 times before they were born. I love when they get hard but when they mix it with light poppy stuff the hard parts feel even harder. I don't get that when I'm listening to Amon Amarth. From an old school metal head like you, I will always have MTH on my permanent playlist.

Great reaction! I think I know which reactor you mean, a lot of people are shocked the first time they listen to MTH, since it's not usual to see those transitions in a song.
You should listen to Hungry Pride, Shimi, Utsukushiki Hitobito no Uta.

I agree, the high voice is my favorite here.

Most of M.T.H. early stuff is very punk. Their sound has evolved over the years but you can always recognize their distinct sound when you hear them. I believe that is a hallmark of any great band.

Reactions to Maximum the Hormone from old school gatekeeper metalheads are always cringe as fuck because they don't get it unless there's nonstop screaming guitars and speed metal drums. There's so much talent here beyond "I play really fast with zero groove and I'm dark and scary but have zero songwriting talent".
MTH have so much more talent than 90% of the bands I've heard over the last 45 years but it's that old school f*cktard mentality that hates anything that's not Iron Maiden that keeps MTH from breaking into the west.

Love Maximum the Hormone. Basically, I simply listen to them as entertainment. I don't understand Japanese well enough -- nor do have enough cultural knowledge -- to get a lot of the symbolism, socio-political commentary and irony in so many of their songs. Definitely my loss.
