Very true about the hair advice. I'm white but have lots of issues with hair breakage that isn't common for white hair. In my early 30s, I randomly asked a black woman in the store for a shampoo recommendation. She gave me the best advice. I started going to a black salon, even though i get funny looks. I like that, "there's room at the table for everyone"! @@Kandipiisen i’m going to be civil and respond with some nuance. there’s nothing wrong with finding community in people who share your experiences. there’s a lot less black ppl than white people in the us, so you have to take that into consideration. a lot of us deem community with other black ppl to be important because our heritage was taken from us. white people can easily form their own community, but unless they were colonized they don’t necessarily need to. we all do the same thing with religious or economic status regardless of race. it’s ok to be around people who relate to your experiences. when i’m looking up makeup videos, i’m not going to search “white girl” when i’m not one. there are some things black and white people may not always relate together on, and your tone proves that.

We all know the history and how terrible it is but black woman use it as a way to be a victim and pretend they are oppressed which isn’t the case. Black woman have the same opportunities as anyone else. Opportunity in life is about where you come from, what you are born in to, not because of the colour of skin
Not black but I love your perspective on how women can support each other. Regardless of our differences, we (women) all need to start supporting each other in this same way. No judgement, give tips and tricks freely and learn from each other. Thank you so much for your message! You are an amazing soul (with a fab minimalist beauty also!)
She is absolutely stunning, but there is nothing minimalist about her look in this clip: false lashes, weave, full face of makeup, French mani, etc. Maybe I misunderstood what you were saying. Did you mean something else? If not, perhaps reconsider what minimalist beauty is. Minimalist beauty would be more like skincare but no (or almost no) makeup, no weave/extensions/wig, no false lashes/extensions, buffed nails rather than polish or gel/acrylic. A major beauty routine has been so normalised that a major routine is now mistakenly seen by some as minimal as long as the colours are more natural rather than bold. Minimalism is about buying less and using less. The look she does here is lovely but actually high maintenance compared to how we are naturally. In any case, I totally agree that she is ridiculously stunning with or without makeup, and the positive attitude is even more beautiful. :) I hope you know I’m saying this because I want women to realise we have internalised beauty duty as being so normal that many see a high maintenance look as natural or minimal, when it isn’t at all. We aren’t obligated to do all this work! We can if we want, but it is work and it’s not natural or minimal, and we need to acknowledge the work, time, and expense that goes into it. I don’t want women to feel like this is the norm and some sort of obligation. We are good enough as we are! Being ‘pretty’ for others is not our job or obligation. We are naturally beautiful and good enough the way we are without the paint and procedures.
This is so important! As a west African, it broke my heart having to disassociate with my west African female "friends." Wether it was to me or towards me, everyday was nonsense. Gossiping, flirting and sleeping with their friend's boyfriends, gate keeping, being obviously upset by any success that comes their way. Just pure chaos. My white tensor friends always treated me like a sister, ironically.
That is tremendously sad. I'm black originally from Central África, but I'm born and raised in Europe. I'm not disconnected from my african culture but I am very well integrated in my european culture as well. Everytime I hear horror stories like this one, about the incapability of black women to support and love their own, it makes me incredibly sad...
I agree, I also distanced myself from people of my heritage because of their negativity but please be careful with the white counterparts. I promise you they’re not any better, every race has shady questionable people. Don’t assume they will be loyal, truthful and a good friend just because they’re white. You are not their kinfolk and they will always remind you of that when it REALLY matter. Best of luck to you ❤
Real, I’m over half black (DNA test says like 60%), but yk how black genes work so I’m completely white presenting. On culture day all my black friends mocked me for “trying to be black so bad” when I wasn’t even wearing an African dress (a Venezuelan one). Like my sister can do box braids, talk “black”, wear our cultures because she looks black, but I can’t. Surprisingly all my white friends stand up for me and don’t care how I look. I hate how they’re always stereotyped as bigoted tho.
im white, i live in california, and sadly i can confirm that there are plenty of fake female friends here too 😢 we can thank the patriarchy for that one (they have internalized misogyny)
I’m an East African woman with awesome female African friends. I find it sad how quickly you are to admonish African women in order to align yourself with whiteness. Our people are just as complex and dimensional as any European. You do not have to suppress your culture in order to be accepted into western society. Where is the pride for your people? The rhetoric that black women are inherently more difficult to get along with is incredibly insulting and heartbreaking.
Agree with this. Anytime I see a black girl out in a relationship where she seems loved and appreciated I feel so happy for her. If she is old (like over 60), I have been even known to shed tears of happiness!
You are stunning! I don’t know black girl code but I know girl code. And all of my friends and I mean all of them are black women. And I have their back and they have mine. Yes to the hair details! I met a girl at college and she had the prettiest crochet curls I'd ever seen, so I complimented her on how natural the part was and how pretty the hair itself was. She told me exactly where she got the hair and who put it in. Turns out my mom did it so we had a good laugh once I recognized my mom's phone #, but I bought the hair cause it was cute af

Very true about the hair advice. I'm white but have lots of issues with hair breakage that isn't common for white hair. In my early 30s, I randomly asked a black woman in the store for a shampoo recommendation. She gave me the best advice. I started going to a black salon, even though i get funny looks. I'm very glad that I did because my hair grows to waist now instead of breaking off at my shoulder blades.
Ignore all the funny looks. Im happy for you
I got my best friend a bonnet and gave her some of my hair products. She says it’s the best thing that’s happened in her routine because now she’s able to brush through her hair with no pain. Curly girlies need to stick together!
@@maononsaka81I have 4 daughters, only the youngest has curly hair. I bought her a bonnet out of desperation, her curls got matted so easily. It’s been so good for her hair that my eldest daughter and I also started using one.
I'm glad you asked! Black women are loving and nurturing, despite what the media may portray. I'm glad you found your hair tribe and you feel comfortable. And of course I'm glad you found what works for your hair! We love to see it!!
Gurl, you're stunning😫❤️
This is an excellent perspective. Infighting can be a really big problem in marginalized communities because of the fear that members are fighting for limited opportunities. There's room at the table for everyone. Ladies, let's put the envy aside! Thank you for this message.
This is correct.
@@LisaSoulLevelHealing😢😢
I like that, "there's room at the table for everyone"! Whether we are talking white women, women of color, straight women, queer women, cis women, or trans women (or any variance of intersectionality, there), we should be uplifting one another and if this table doesn't have room, we all should be speaking up to make sure we get a bigger table to fit all of us!

The jealousy thing made me immediately remember how the girls that were my actual friends were treated because of things like colorism and them actually being curious and wanting to learn but I literally heard a TEACHER say one of the girls was “too dark to be acting all smart”. We were in 3rd grade, too. She had the prettiest dark skin and was so incredibly sweet and literally taught me how to study. Sorry for rambling but you reminded me of her

"black girl comunity"? i would never.. ever say "white girl comunity" like what? segregation is real i guess, even if I don´t see it because don´t live in it.
@@Kandipiisenyou mad😂
@@Kandipiisen😢😢😢😅😅😂😂
@@Kandipiisen it’s not segregation. She just simply said that she struggled to fit in with black girls. no need to make a big deal out of it.

Agreed…she’s absolutely beautiful…but you could have left the “black Barbie” part out darling 🫣
100% about the lace lifting. I was in the store and I saw a beautiful black woman with her lace lifting and I whispered it to her as I passed and she was so grateful. I didn’t wanna cause embarrassment so I just said it loud enough for her to hear.
#classy to be kind
I wanted to tell the nurse who was taking care of me her lace was lifting but I was too shy and didn't know if it was alright to do.

What does this even mean ?
@@Rise-and-Shine333 "I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own.” -Audre Lorde.
It's about raising up people that share a common struggle. By tearing one another down, success becomes harder to achieve. By instead raising each other up, everyone receives the support that they need to end the struggle.
@@RottyMacbeth yes that doesn’t explain a thing. Just some speech with no explanation at all.

Black woman today are not slaves so I don’t get why some of them make out they are direct victims of it. It’s beyond ridiculous. We all know the history and how terrible it is but black woman use it as a way to be a victim and pretend they are oppressed which isn’t the case. But we need to support one another as she said, we "envy each other so much 'til it can get ugly".

Girl you are stunning!!!
I hope you know I’m saying this because I want women to realise we have internalised beauty duty as being so normal that many see a high maintenance look as natural or minimal, when it isn’t at all.
@8jaime8 and if she wants a full beat and wig and lashes and nails to look good for herself?
Girlll you’re makeup is soooo cute 🥰
