Well, opening the contest apparently isn't the worst thing ever. Spain came second last year opening the show. The way I understand Dutch JESC is that kids do (mostly) individual auditions, and based on available songs kids are grouped (in this case) and paired with songs. Then there is a contest between usually four contestants and these four won that contest.
They wont be opening. Italy will be opening who in my opinion are very underrated while its definitely not the best song its also not deserving of a bottom 4 or 5 spot and Im Australian so Its not like I just like my own countrys song. When they announced the results of the draw I predicted the Running order and when songs have been coming out I have just been changing it slightly. At the moment I have them going 6th sandwiched between North Macedonia and Poland who are both underwhelming. Maybe North Macedonia are going to come 12th again. Im confused how Poland have had more success then the Netherlands
