Lots of engineers are very nervous going back to training/assessment, after all we’re not the guys who did GCSE, A level and degree courses. Some assessment centres are very structured and rigid, which I found makes for poor transfer of knowledge. The ones where the tutors are more friendly and relaxed help settle guys who then tend to learn more. I’ve seen good engineers go to pieces because of the tutors attitude, some seem to revel in their power over people. Everyone loses in that scenario...............

As others have said Derek, don’t let the minority spoil it for the majority, I’m currently doing my portfolio and when I pass my ACS hopefully later this year I will have you to thank. I watch your videos over and over again and always pick up little snippets of information that I didn’t know, i would not be at the level I’m at if it wasn’t for you. Thank you Derek, your time and effort is appreciated, Kevin Jacob, london

However, you challenging us operatives is great.
