I always loved the look of those kx’s with the integrated number plate in the rear mudguard / fender. You can see the rear suspension lever and it just looks so tough. Great job guys 👍
My most similar bike was a 82 KX 250. Air cooled two stroke reed valve with standard porting. It was a very nice machine first year for production KX to have disc brake equipped. The number plates were kind of unique and functional not really popular. The uni-trac was in it’s third year and getting better but still room for improvement. Plenty of power across the power band and would rip hill climbs. Bike sure brings back memories.😊
!n 1983 I had a 1983 KX 125. Maximum Horsepower was achieved at 10,500 RPM. quite a punch at mid-range revs. But, overrevving did not yield much. You would have to be a very good rider to take advantage of the power band that the '83 kx-125 had to offer. I also had a 1981 KX-125. That bike produced maximum Horsepower at 12,500 RPM. Was a non liquid cooled engine that was a real screamer. Pulled a many hole-shots with the '81 KX-125. Nothing could ever beat it in a drag race.
This Video is Proof That All Boys Need Fathers. My Father Helped Me learn to ride, helped Me with anything I had to do with rebuilding top ends and so forth. He's 83 and I'm 58. Long live Masculinity. The Absence of This is Everything that's Wrong With Our Country today. We had some interesting times. We didn't have TH-cam. We had to dig through manuals to find things out. Calling shops etc.
Me and Jimmi scraped up the money to buy (RM100)our bikes. Our Fathers were never involved (in Racing) after buying our first bike: XR75 for all 3 of us. We would beg, borrow and steal to go racing. Never realized it then, but now i know. Racing has become this GIANT Family Business.
I am a 110% TOTALLY straight man ...but WOW ..i think i would still marry Devon 😅 just for his AMAZING skills of restoring these old motocross bikes ...ESPECIALLY this 1983 KX 125 💚💙🖤..Devon you hit this one right out of the ball park ...my fav vintage mx bike / year of ALL times . ..so 😎 ...CONGRATS Devon on a job beyond well done !! P.S sorry Devon ...the marriage is off 😅 I need to find myself a woman who looks like Tayler Kaplan ❤
I had one like that , well not nearly that clean . I remember that ridiculous looking rear fender/number plate. The thing was an absolute flying machine and tough as hell.
That is one truly Sick vintage 1983 2 stroke MX Dirtbike. Love those blue handlebars and that Green Sprocket. Devin must be a guy with rare talent like Justin. All your employees have over the top skills. The fact that Wizard was blown away by Devin's work quality speaks in large volumes. Even more impressive is the fact that Devin was actually able to teach all of y'all something really blew me away the most. Since I don't know what Devin looks like, I have no clue if I ever saw him in any of yall's videos or not. His work on that gas tank, with him rebuilding it, is something I didn't even know could be done. Your Mom was a very wise woman with offering you that dirtbike as incentive, to get you to wanna go back to school! She did save your life! ❤
Man I hated that bike compared to my 83 CR125. And that rear fender number plate was horrible BUT I love the history and ground breaking era of the 80’s. Def a golden age
19 83 Kawasaki KX125 Factory tuned you make me feel like a kid watching this video a lot of my friends had that bike absolutely gorgeous Kaplan Cycles God Bless America❤
Love this guy! Very humble! Very wise! Plus, they restore the coolest bikes! Can't wait to visit! Not a kawi fan but that's a nice bike! Love the Dinosaurs!
That's when motocross bikes had some soul to them and you could tell instantly what brand bike was coming from far away. I am a Yamaha guy but always considered this model KX as being on of the best looking bikes of all time.
@@KaplanCycles I'm sure I've seen it but it was a while back. I got hit in the head a lot as a kid and I don't remember the bikes condition when you got it.

Damn what a beautiful machine. I remember when it came out. Had the gold swingarm and linkages and the number plate rear fender. I was riding an 82 kx80 at the time. Been looking for one to restore ever since.
You want some OEM 89/90 Red and white YZ Tank Graphics ? I’ve got a box full of Yamaha dealer closings Graphics , seals , gaskets I’ve just begun digging into .
I misunderstood you I guess. This bike producing 32.5hp is .26 horsepower per cc if assuming exactly 125cc. One horsepower is one horsepower but as far as how much horsepower does one horse have? Not 32.5 but generally believed to be about 15hp peak for a healthy strong draft horse.
Brings back memories with the number plate rear fender looks cool af.Who ever done this massive respect sir
I wish they would keep that look
@@rossilake218
A lot of people hate it. It’s funny, either people love it or they hate it, there is no in between.
I raced that exact bike in 1983 in NESC in the amateur class, great job brings back sooo many memories. thank you.... regards Dan
80s had the best looking dirt bikes to me all the new stuff is graphics
Yup they looked tuff the newer ones look to tribal.
The white and red Yamahas with the radiator on the handlebars were my favorite looking.
@@ChaNnArD-mD I had an 87 KX 125 that was my favorite looking.
@@577buttfan I remember back in the 90's I had a 1985 CR125 amazing bike, but some guy in a 90's KX250 would always pass me on 1 wheel 😂😱

Me and my friends, some were a little older than me when I was 15 and we all learned to jump on a 1980 KX 125 in 1980 and we will never forget it.
Can't believe how fast that thing is for a 82 model, love it.
My buddy had one back in the day… Sooo crazy that lil Scoot… BEAUTIFUL!!!
A friend had this bike. It was an iconic looking bike back in the day and it still is today . Always reminds me of Brad Lackey.
what a badass bike!
Sounds really good nice and crisp the wizard knows his stuff, I enjoy your channel
Anyone else liking on the rear fender and number plates. Obviously not a great look by today’s standards but unique for the early 80s

Always went perfectly with that particular bike! Definitely unusual.

I Love This Channel. Always Great Bikes. Especially 2 Strokers!
Absolutely perfect 😍 That’s exactly how I would’ve built it except I would’ve put a full DG exhaust on it and modern Footpegs 😉
Great looking bike takes me back I had a kx60 , kx80 and kx125 back in the 80's end up getting a cr500 in the 90's still in the garage
